Welcome to the 39th Basel Coin Fair

The kick-off event of the numismatic year. The 39th edition of Basel International Coin Fair will be held on January 23 and 24, 2010! As always, the venue will be the congress center of Basel fairground. According to the wishes of our exhibitors and visitors, the event’s length and opening hours – Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm and Sunday, 10 am to 4 pm – remain unchanged as well.

In the coming weeks and months we will be providing further details of the upcoming event.

Chicago`s NEW Sportshow is Chicago`s biggest fishing, hunting, camping and lodging event.

Since I am an enthusiastic fisherman as well, I have been a regular visitor at first to the exhibition held in Brno, and since last year also in Prague. Nevertheless … simply said I had a feeling that fishing which is a regular hobby for about a quarter of a million of people would deserve something else. The fact is that at present most established shops are fully supplied, which means that their offer is already quite a nice show, i.e. an exhibition of all the “gear”. And this is still completed with e-shops… But if there is to be an exhibition then it must have an added value too. This means an excellent accompanying professional programme, entertainment and competition programme, regular fishing atmosphere and excellent fish gastronomy. Shortly said – as the project subtitle reads: “… or Exhibition in a Slightly Different Way”. This was the key idea of how a festival of all anglers could or should look like. And when a group of anglers met on the Orlík dam bank on a beautiful day some time ago, they started to speak about the possibilities of organising a fishing exhibition, as there was zero activity of fish that day. And as it is often the case, we have turned from ideas and speaking about a fishing exhibition to acts because all of us think that there is some space for such a new project. We have managed to create a preparatory team with an excellent representation, and we have managed to convince not only guarantors and media but also state institutions. The result of the work of these people is the project on the pages of which you are currently reading.

We believe that the festival will become, already from its very beginning, a feast of all “silent crazies” and that all will be satisfied with its level and will remember it only as a good and useful event. The satisfaction of all active participants of the festival will be the best reward to those who are preparing the project and who dedicate so much time to it.
So see you in January when we are looking forward to seeing you in Letňany, where the new fishing season of 2010 will start.
