Objectives
- Gain an understanding of the newest clinical research on Alzheimer’s disease
- Realize emerging methods for the diagnosis and treatment of AD such as biomarkers, imaging, and memory screening; as well as practical management of AD patients
- Appreciate the differences between normal and Alzheimer brain tissue as seen in a video of brain autopsies
- Demonstrate the best pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic home and facility based interventions in patient care depending on behavioral symptoms as well as cognitive function
- Be able to describe dangers of polypharmacy in dementia patients
- Identify lessons learned from studies of successful aging
- Describe Genome Wide Association Studies and the future implications of personalized medicine
