Dilemmas in Cardiovascular Disease is a two-day
program that will address current issues in the field of cardiology
especially as it relates to Heart Failure & Pulmonary Hypertension;
Dilemmas in Acute Coronary Syndromes; Dilemmas in Cardiac CT for 2010;
Aortic Valve; Mitral Valve. This program is designed to provide
cardiologists with state-of-the-art information to be applied to patient
care from experts in the field. The format includes didactic lectures,
panel discussions and interactive case presentations specifically
designed to highlight areas of controversy or uncertainty in clinical
management.
The new developments and advances in multiple
areas of cardiovascular disease intend to afford benefit to the millions
of patients who suffer from these conditions. However, the rapid pace
at which the results of important clinical trials and novel diagnostic
and therapeutic approaches come to light presents a challenge to
physicians who implement the translation of those discoveries into
clinical practice. The exponential growth in several areas within
cardiovascular disease contributes to this challenge by constantly
increasing the amount of information that the practicing clinicians need
to be familiar with in order to best apply proven new therapies to
their patients.LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Recognize the aspects of the clinical presentation of patients with heart failure that are associated with successful outcomes after each mode of therapy is implemented.
- Interpret the results of the most recent trials in patients with non-ST segment elevation acute coronary syndromes and apply the appropriate level of aggressive treatment for each clinical presentation
- Describe recently developed treatment modalities for patients with severe aortic stenosis that have changed the paradigm for the assessment, follow up, and intervention in these patients.
