FOR MANY YEARS THERE HAVE BEEN INFORMAL
MEETINGS AND RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN ALLERGOLOGISTS FROM THE LATIN
MEDITERRANEAN COUNTRIES, ITALY, SPAIN AND PORTUGAL, DEVOTED TO PROBLEMS
OF COMMON INTEREST SUCH AS THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE POLLEN FROM THE
LOCAL FLORA AND THE EPIDEMIOLOGY OF THE ALLERGIC DISEASES IN THE
RESPECTIVE COUNTRIES. MOREOVER, THESE COUNTRIES STILL FOLLOW SIMILAR
EDUCATIONAL AND TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR ALLERGOLOGISTS AND CLINICAL
IMMUNOLOGISTS.
The
logical consequence of these meetings was the decision to enter into a
pact of friendship and collaboration which was formalized in 2006 with
the institution of SEAS (Southern European Allergy Societies).
SEAS in primarily concerned with aspects of good clinical practice such as:
► Development of collaboration in the area of applied research
► Exchange of information concerning good clinical practice in the area of health care of allergic diseases.
The
comparison of postagraduate schools in Allergy and Clinical Immunology
in order to standardize training programs and to promote programs for
the international exchange of young specialists. In this context,
the focus of this first congress will in good part, be directed toward
questions having etiological and epidemiological characteristics which
are peculiar to southern Europe. There will be many presentations which
compare and discuss the differences and similarities between the
diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to allergic diseases in Italy,
Spain and Portugal.
The agenda which regards allergological questions
of eminently practical nature has been set
by inter-society working groups.
We will deal with many topics in our meetings
such as aerobiology, climate change, food allergies,
bronchial asthma, allergic dermatitis, Hymenoptera
venom allergy in Southern Europe,
allergy and aging, news and problems with diagnosis
in vitro, updating in immunotherapy, protocols
and techniques of desensitization in drug
allergies, anaphylaxis in clinical practice, allergic
rhinitis and conjunctivitis. Each session will see
three highly competent speakers, one from each
of the founding organizations. We will have
poster sessions and satellite symposiums.
As in every scientific meeting there will be many
news and updates. We believe that one of the
special aspects of this congress is the special
focus and the special characteristics of Southern
Europe Allergology in the highly practical nature
of the presentations and discussions.
A beautiful aria from the famous lyrical work by
Giacomo Puccini called “Gianni Schicchi” begins
with the words “Firenze è come un albero fiorito”
(Florence is like a flowering tree). The name Florence
comes from Florentia , the city of flowers,
therefore of pollens. What better place could
there be than Florence to hold the first convention
of the SEAS?

National Congress is the culmination of scientific and educational
value of the Company, an opportunity for discussion on the most recent
acquisitions in the field of cardiovascular prevention. The
main objective of the Congress SIPREC resides primarily in promoting
the encounter between professionals working in various fields of
preventive cardiology. In
addition, the event promotes collaboration within the EU scientific and
public awareness that cardiovascular disease, which remains the leading
cause of death in our country and elsewhere in Europe, may be largely prevented through effective prevention programs.
In today`s Business climate, many companies are trying to widen margins
by reducing operational costs while at the same time becoming more
Agile and Intelligent in Business operations. In addition they want to
become more responsive to Business events and more flexible in their
ability to quickly change in response to competitive pressures. To do
this requires that companies improve the efficiency and automation of
their Operational Business Processes through Enterprise Business
Integration and on-demand intelligence. Four levels of Integration are
needed to create the Agile Process Centric Intelligent Business. These
are User Interface Integration, Business Process Integration,
Application Integration and on-demand Data Integration. This in-depth
two-day seminar discusses the Business benefits that can be obtained
from Business Integration and then focuses on the architecture
options, the technologies and a methodology on how to integrate
Business operations and also leverage Business Intelligence on-demand
in operations to create the Intelligent Business. Attendees will learn
how to justify the Business benefits of Enterprise Integration, create
an Enterprise Architecture and then bring the architecture to life
using common integration infrastructure technologies to join up
Business operations. They will learn about the components of Business
Integration including standardising integration interfaces using Web
Services, using Metadata integration technologies to create a shared
Business vocabulary, on-demand Data Integration using Enterprise
Information Integration (EII) technologies, Business Process Management
technologies, Business Activity Monitoring (BAM), on-demand Business
Intelligence and Enterprise Portal technologies. In addition attendees
will learn what technologies to use, how to select and how to integrate
these products into an end-to-end integration technology framework
based on integrated shared Metadata.
There is no doubt that Business Performance Management (BPM) is
becoming fundamental to building, growing and managing a successful
Business. This concept is based upon the principle that improvements in
performance can only be delivered if performance is measured in
specific Business areas and related to strategic Business objectives
and targets. A full BPM implementation therefore includes:
CPM/EMP/SPM Scorecards and Dashboards
Enterprise budgeting and planning
Processes and BI both integrated with Scorecards and Dashboard software (not just BI)
In-line analytics for on-demand BI, reports and analyses available in operations
BI Web Services to integrate BI into operational Business processes
Business Activity Monitoring (BAM) to monitor Business process events to detect exceptions and opportunities
On-demand and event driven data integration to integrate historic and operational data for analysis
Data Mining services for automatic analysis,
Reporting services for on-demand and event driven reporting
Rules engines to make automatic decisions and take automatic actions
Automated alerts
Live recommendations
Guided analytics
Dynamically guided intelligent processes
Activity based costing to monitor and measure the cost of operating
This new two-day seminar provides a roadmap and methodology to
creating the Right-Time Intelligent Enterprise by using methodologies
and new technologies to manage a Business at both strategic and
operational levels.
It looks at how Operational Performance Monitoring technologies like
BAM can be integrated with Operational Business Processes and linked to
Strategic Performance Management technologies such as Scorecards and
Dashboards as part of a top-to-bottom Enterprise Business Performance
Management program.
The European Academy of Occupational Health Psychology and the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Prevention (ISPESL) would like to invite you to the ‘Eternal City’, Rome, to attend the 2010 conference of the European Academy of Occupational Health Psychology.
The European Academy of Occupational Health Psychology was founded in 1999 to provide pan-European representation for research, education and professional practice in the discipline. One of its major activities is its biennial conference which attracts delegates from more than thirty countries who gather to share innovations and best practice in the field.
Occupational health psychology concerns the application of principles and practices in applied psychology to occupational health and safety issues for the promotion of the quality of working life. The discipline’s researchers and practitioners aspire to foster `healthy workplaces in which people may produce, serve, grow, and be valued. Healthy workplaces are ones where people use their talents and gifts to achieve high performance, high satisfaction, and well-being`.
The 9th Conference is being jointly organised in collaboration with the Department of Occuaptional Medicine of the Italian National Institute of Occupational Safety and Prevention (ISPESL). The event will take place over three days, 29-31 March, 2010, at the Pontifical Urbaniana University . Situated in the centre of Rome, adjacent to the Vatican, this prestigious venue is sure to offer an ideal location for researchers, practitioners, educators, and postgraduate students to share developments in the exciting field of occupational health psychology. We look forward to welcoming you in Rome.
Do you already know data modeling basics and want more? Take the Masterclass! You will first apply a Best Practices approach
to building and validating data models through the Data Model
Scorecardtm, a tool for improving data model quality. Next we focus on
a collection of intermediate and advanced modeling techniques,
including advanced normalization and enterprise data modeling. The
final section contains guidelines used to gain consistency across our
data models in areas such as in abstraction and whether to star schema
or snowflake.
Each participant will receive a copy of all presentation material and a copy of the 2nd edition of the book “Data Modeling Made Simple”, by Steve Hoberman.
Poor information quality costs organizations ten to twenty percent of
total sales or revenue in the form of process failure and “information
scrap and rework.” These costs are real and direct costs equivalent to
manufacturing scrap and rework. Lost and missed opportunity costs as a
result of poor information quality can be even greater than that. You
learn the quality principles that must be applied to both business
processes and information systems processes to achieve effective
business performance. You learn how to measure and improve information
quality to reclaim the lost profits of poor quality information.
This course provides guidelines for implementing a Total Information Quality Management (TIQMtm) environment to create a “Center of Excellence” and sustain an information quality environment for business effectiveness.
W. Edwards Deming’s 14 Points of Quality provide the basis for defining
an information quality management environment. You learn management
techniques for implementing sustainable information quality
improvement. Illustrations show leading-edge best practices that
result in business effectiveness and competitive advantage.
It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 4th European Virology Congress (EVC) in Cernobbio, lake of Como, IT, April 7-11, 2010 (www.eurovirology2010.org). The congress will be the annual meeting of the European Society for Clinical Virology, the German/Swiss/Austrian Society for Virology (Gesellschaft fϋr Virologie) and the Italian Society of Virology.
The Eurovirology Congresses, renamed European Virology Congresses, were initiated in 2000 to bring together young and senior investigators from all Countries of Europe and from all branches of Virology. The aim was to strengthen Virology in Europe, by providing a platform for basic, medical, clinical, veterinary, and plant Virology. Congresses were held sequentially in UK, Spain and Germany. Importantly, they have fostered the foundation of the European Society for Virology (www.eusv.eu), the inaugural meeting of which will be held in Rome, April 24, 2009.
The Venue is the beautiful Spazio Congressi Villa Erba, Cernobbio, Lake of Como. This is one of Italy`s most enchanting corners. Cernobbio, very close to Como, dominates the west side of the lake and offers a breathtaking view of miles of the lake. Lake Como has always been and still is a world famous international resort. Visitors are enraptured by its charming atmosphere and natural beauty. Cernobbio-Como are 50 Km away from the Malpensa Airport, the main airport in Northern Italy.

The world of wine is made up of men and women whose passion preserves history and culture to take them into the future. Vinitaly is where these people meet. The 2009 harvest focusing on the values embraced in every single bottle of wine will evolve in 2010 into inter-personal relationships that highlight the life, emotions and history of one and all. Because this is the world we love.
The goal of EW2010 conference is to provide a forum for researchers and developers from universities, research labs, and companies to share new findings and discuss challenges about wireless and mobile networks. The conference will include presentations of theoretical and experimental achievements, innovative wireless and mobile systems, prototypes, and standardization.
People use software, but other people build that software. There`s
the problem. Solving it means understanding the actual work of the
Business users and what they need in order to do it. And then the
resulting requirements need to be communicated to system builders,
customers and suppliers. Requirements analysts need a process that
provides a structure for organizing the requirements. However the
requirements process needs to be flexible enough to suit each
particular situation. This seminar teaches you that process. Since the
first version of the Volere process and template was released, it has
been adopted and adapted to improve the requirements of thousands of
organizations all over the world. The Volere requirements specification
template, links the functional, non-functional and constraint Business
requirements to the requirements models and connects them to the design
specification. This seminar has indispensable information for Business
analysts, requirements engineers, systems mangers, project leaders,
consultants, systems analysts and planners. This material applies to all
stakeholders: users and
customers will benefit from learning how to participate in this
multi-disciplinary approach. It is for anybody who has a responsibility
to deliver the right products-the ones that get used. The seminar
focuses on:
A process for gathering the correct requirements
Methods of eliciting requirements from all the stakeholders
Ways of knowing when your solution precisely matches what the user needs
The ability to write a complete and unambiguous requirements specification
Improved relationships between developers, customers and suppliers.
The original Data Warehouse architecture of the 1980s separated
“decision support” from day-to-day business operations. This supported
Decision-Making needs at the time and was easily implemented on then
emerging technologies, such as relational databases. However, today’s
Business needs fully integrated processes, closely linking information
and activities from all areas of the Enterprise. Decision-Making and
Action-Taking are tightly bound. Business cycles are dramatically
shorter and span company boundaries. So far, Enterprise IT, including
Business Intelligence, has responded slowly and incoherently.
Business Integrated Insight (BI2)
is a new architecture that reintegrates all Decision-Making and
Action-Taking into the overall processes of the Business. Starting from
the Data Warehouse, it incorporates a variety of technological
advances, such as SOA, distributed access, Web technologies, Content
Management and specialised relational databases. BI2 thus
provides a comprehensive structure for the full Enterprise IT
integration demanded by modern Businesses. In addition, it directly
addresses the current Data Warehousing issues, such as operational BI,
executive Decision-Support, comprehensive information discovery and
innovation, and Enterprise-Wide Decision Management. And, although
novel, BI2 is designed as an evolution from current Data Warehouse, operational and collaborative technologies.
SOA has rapidly seized the momentum and center stage because it is seen
as the key for Enterprises to achieve Business agility, improved
quality of service, lowered total cost of ownership and to align
Business with technology. SOA represents a unique and rare opportunity
to bring IT and Business together. However, this opportunity implies an
evolution and often an organizational change, especially in the role of
IT within the organization and in the way IT and Business work
together. This seminar starts with examples of popular Business
strategies, explains how SOA can enable them and foster a better
alignment between Business requirements and IT deliverables. It gives
you insight into the key organizational challenges that IT Managers
face with the adoption of SOA and how to master them through efficient
governance. Next, the seminar discusses the key standards that one
should consider when implementing services and it outlines the
important aspects of Enterprise Architecture that have to be addressed
in order to make SOA projects successful. This includes defining a
loosely coupled architecture and proper separation into service layers,
as well as a comparison of conventional Web Services based and RESTful
architectures. The seminar then drills down into the major aspects of
application architecture, for example how SOA enables new types of
clients, the characteristics of orchestration, application, and
infrastructure services, and it maps standards to the layers of the
application architecture. Furthermore, the seminar will help you
understand how SOA can be applied to integration initiatives within
your company, in particular through Service Oriented Integration (SOI).
In this context the concept of the Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) is
introduced. The seminar concludes with an overview of today’s
predominant platforms for building and deploying new Business
applications (Java EE and .NET, as well as open source tools),
examining these platforms in terms of their support for SOA.

As you remember, the first European Conference on Interventional
Oncology – ECIO 2008 – organized by the CIRSE Foundation in April 2008,
was a great success. The scientific content, the quality of the
presentations, and the overall number of delegates who attended the
meeting exceeded even the best expectations. Even more important, the
“atmosphere” of the conference was very lively, with interventional
radiologists and oncology clinicians facing each other in the
scientific debates and the workshops.
In order to cater to the growing number of interventionists involved in
oncology, the CIRSE Foundation is organising another meeting dedicated
entirely to Interventional Oncology: the second European Conference on
Interventional Oncology – ECIO 2010 - will take place on April 21-24,
2010, again in Florence, Italy.
The scientific programme of the conference has been further expanded
with respect to 2008, in view of the growing number of novel clinical
applications and the many innovative techniques that have been recently
introduced. Conference attendees will have the opportunity to choose
from several special focus sessions and workshops covering the entire
spectrum of oncologic interventions.
Leading experts from around the world will present both,
well-established and new, promising therapies of this exciting and
rapidly evolving field. In response to the increasing role of imaging
techniques in proper patient selection, tumour targeting and treatment
monitoring, the conference will feature newly introduced special
sessions focused on advances in cancer imaging.
The conference venue is located in the historical city centre of
Florence and all congress hotels are within walking distance. This will
give the attendees the opportunity to spend free time visiting some of
Florence’s world renowned monuments and art galleries.
ECIO Incentive Programme - Bring your referring oncologist for free!
The ECIO Incentive Programme allows Radiologists with a full
registration for ECIO 2010, to invite their referring oncologist
colleague to the conference for free. This offer includes free
registration to the conference and three nights of a four star
complimentary hotel accommodation in Florence, April 21-24, 2010.
The critical ischemic foot is a frequent and severe clinical condition in which both revascularization and foot care must be considered essential components of the therapeutic approach for the limb salvage.
During the next 3rd edition, the EviVenice Course will focus on the ischemic foot with two parallel but separate programs on each of these two clinical issues.
To stimulate the discussion among specialists with different approaches or opinions, during the two days course there will be four plenary sessions on topics of common interest, focused on controversy debated by two opponents.
In the line of the previous editions of the course, a consistent number of live extreme intervention cases will be presented from two leading centers, in Brescia and Leipzig respectively, while real clinical cases will be presented and discussed in the foot care program.
Characteristic of the Course is to conjugate the multidisciplinary vision with more innovative approaches, and its purpose is to bring to the participants the most recent and effective strategies to successfully manage such a complex and demanding pathology.
Particular emphasis will be reserved to the discussion opportunities, multimedia didactic resources and advanced educational pathways.
The participation of interventionists and foot specialists from the same centers is encouraged to let the Course enhance and improve their synergy for limb salvage.
After a brief introduction of Service Oriented Architecture the
seminar discusses the guidance that typical Enterprise Architectures
provide, and it compares today’s two mainstream approaches to SOA,
namely conventional Web Services based architectures and RESTful
architectures. It moves on to the more detailed application
architecture, starting with the relationship of different types of
clients to the services they consume, the separation of services into
three distinct layers (orchestration, application, and infrastructure
services layer), and it gives a quick overview how a variety of
standards can be mapped to the elements of the application architecture.
The seminar then addresses how a typical Object Oriented application
development methodology can be modified in order to derive a
methodology that is suitable for implementing services. A Case Study is
used for a detailed illustration of the modeling and design of a
SOA-based B2B gateway. It includes the design of service interfaces,
the encapsulation of a legacy system, the definition of schemas that
are broken down into reusable components, the development of Business
processes, and a walk-through of the complete B2B gateway architecture.
In 2010 ESCMID will celebrate once again the
International Day for Fighting Infection by organizing a one-day
symposium on milestones in the history of infections. This 3rd edition
will be held once again on St. George`s Day and will trace the
evolution over the centuries of infection control in hospitals and of
ad-hoc hospitals for infectious patients.
This event is organized in cooperation with the
International Society of Chemotherapy (ISC) and the International
Society of Infectious Diseases (ISID), and supported by The Lancet
Infectious Diseases.
Autophagy is an evolutionarily conserved fundamental intracellular
degradative process operating as a homeostatic mechanism in all
eukaryotic cells. Following the genetic breakthroughs in yeast, the
field of autophagy research has been growing exponentially resulting in
a cornucopia of discoveries regarding the molecular mechanisms and
physiological roles of autophagy. The latter include adaptation to
stress such as starvation or genotoxic insults, clearance of
intracellular components including damaged or surplus organelles and
protein aggregates, anti-aging, neoplasia, metabolic disease, immunity
and development. In human populations, autophagic dysfunction has been
directly associated with neurodegeneration, cancer and inflammatory
diseases.
The 2010 Gordon Research Conference on Autophagy in Stress,
Development and Disease is our 4th GRC on autophagy. The goal of this
conference is to facilitate an integrated approach to defining the role
of autophagy in physiological and pathological processes and to
elucidate the mechanism of the autophagic pathways. The conference will
present cutting-edge research on these topics. In addition, we will
include sessions on the longstanding key fundamental questions: “how is
autophagy regulated?” and “what is the origin of the autophagosome?”
The conference will bring together investigators who are at the
forefront of the autophagy field, and will provide opportunities for
junior scientists and graduate students to present their work in poster
format and exchange ideas with leaders in the field. The 2010 Autophagy
GRC will be an ideal venue for both experts and newcomers to the field
of autophagy research. Topics to be addressed include the following:
There is unanimous agreement among “agile” authors, experts, and
practitioners that agile development works for building small
stand-alone systems, including front-end BI applications. However,
there is considerable disagreement among the experts whether “agile”
can work for large, complex systems like an Enterprise Data Warehouse,
which requires an Enterprise perspective for activities like data
standardization, data integration, enterprise data modeling, business
rules ratification, coordinated ETL data staging, common meta data,
collectively architected (designed) databases, and so on. Today’s
popular agile methodologies do not take any of these additional
DW-specific complexities and interdependencies into account. However,
the presenter’s 7-step Extreme ScopingTM approach does.
Having good information visualization software is not enough. Even
knowing how to use the software is not enough. The ability to design
effective visual displays of data is not intuitive; it requires a set
of visual design skills that must be learned.
Based on his recent book, "Show Me the Numbers: Designing Tables and
Graphs to Enlighten", Stephen Few introduces the Best Practices in data
presentation in this workshop.
We make huge investments annually in Business Intelligence (BI)
technology, but it often fails to deliver on the promise of improved
productivity and smarter decisions. Assuming that you need only install
BI software and the rest will take care of itself is a false hope.
To use BI technology effectively, you still need fundamental skills in
the analysis and presentation of information. A relatively small
investment in skills development can make the difference between the
success or failure of a huge investment in technology.
The most common and important use of BI software involves the analysis
and presentation of quantitative information - the numbers that measure
Business Performance. Most quantitative data, such as sales data and
other Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), are presented as tables and
graphs. Unfortunately, most tables and graphs used in Business today
are poorly designed. Why? Because almost no one who produces them,
including specialists such as financial analysts and other report
developers, have been trained in effective table and graph design. You
can become an exception to this norm.
This course provides practical instruction in table and graph design
developed specifically for the needs of Business. It will alleviate
countless hours of confusion and frustration. Following Stephen Few`s
clear precepts, communicated through examples of what works, what
doesn`t, and why, you will learn to design tables and graphs that
present data clearly and drive your message home.
Somewhere around 90% of all Business data analysis can be done using
simple graphing techniques to discern meaningful Patterns in the data.
Plenty of existing resources already teach the skills and practices
involved in doing sophisticated statistical and financial analysis to
support the mere 10% of Business data analysis that requires it those
specialized skills, but where are the resources that teach the skills
needed by the rest of us?
Even though these skills are simple and easy to learn and apply with
the right help, very few people involved in analyzing Business data
know them. This workshop provides a solution.
This book is intended for all those whose work requires them to make
sense of quantitative Business data. This audience is much broader than
financial analysts, or even analysts by any name; it provides practical
skills that are useful to managers at all levels and to anyone
interested in keeping a keen eye on the Business
Anyone who uses Excel or any of the many other Business productivity
tools used for data access, analysis, and reporting, will learn how to
use them productively, perhaps for the first time.
The delegates will also receive a copy of the book “Now you see it: Simple Graphing Techniques for Quantitative Analysis” by Stephen Few.

Dashboards have become a popular means to present critical Business information at a glance, but few do so effectively.
Huge investments are made in Information Technology to produce
actionable information, only to have it robbed of meaning at the very
last stage of the process: the presentation of insights to those
responsible for making decisions.
When designed well, Dashboards engage the power of visual perception to
communicate a dense collection of information in an instant with
exceptional clarity. This can only be achieved, however, by applying
visual design skills that address the unique design challenges of
Dashboards.
These skills are not intuitive; they must be learned.
The delegates will also receive a copy of the new book "Information Dashboard Design" by Stephen Few.

Developments in IT and the world economy have changed the paradigm for
corporate IT people and the strategies they lead. Consumers and
Business managers are increasingly confident at exploiting technology
in ways that they value. Meanwhile, executives remain determined to
constrain IT spending, not always certain of what they get in return.
The economic climate makes it even more important to understand the
links between value creation and IT costs.
The Corporate Strategy for IT harnesses the energy of Business-led
strategies for exploiting IT, to create maximum total value. It also
makes transparent the linkages between Business decisions and IT costs
- often with some very surprising results.
In a recent advertisement for Microsoft Project, a Project Manager
is shown alone in a high-tech room looking at 20 computer screens on a
wall with project plans, tracking reports and other project information
produced by Microsoft Project. The caption reads "Excellent". The
project is going to plan. In the client-driven, internet-speed world of
contemporary world of new Business, nothing could be further from
reality than the Microsoft advertisement. With the evolution of XP
(Extreme Programming and Lite or Agile Methodologies), the need for
appropriate Project Management techniques to support the radical
development approaches involved in Extreme projects has become
critical.Traditional Project Management focused "downwards" to the
technical content of the project. In other words, the Project Manager
focused on issues such as schedule, deliverables, costs and so on (the
Microsoft advertisement). Extreme Project Management balances the
internal focus on the content with an external focus on the context of
the project.Simply, what used to done with the project team is now
shared fully with the project stakeholders. In addition, the broader
context issues such as Business impact, Change Management, Business
drivers, benefits realisation,
organizational politics, communication, relationship and expectation
Management are the main focus of the new Project Manager. In a recent US
survey, Robert Charette reported that Project Managers were struggling
to cope with the changing Business environment. Challenges facing
Project Managers include:
Lack of budget or time to establish stable processes in highly compressed schedules
The need for innovative new solutions to Business initiatives
Insufficient planning
Redundant work caused by sudden changes in priorities
Too many dependencies with other projects
Competition for resources with other projects
Slow decision making
In this highly-provocative and challenging Master Class, Extreme
Project Management will be explored. The workshop will provide a forum
for experienced Project Managers to come to grips with the new world of
Project Management. Each student will receive a copy of Thomsett`s book
"Radical Project Management".

EMTC 2010. Now it is up to you.to get involved and plan for the future.
The conference will address advances in seawater and brackish water desalination and their strong relation to new technologies and process intensification strategy. Water stress is becoming a major problem worldwide which negatively affects the overall quality of life and industrial development. Reclamation and reuse of purified sea-brackish and wastewater represents an important part of the water supply in many areas of the world, particularly in Europe, the U.S., Australia and Japan. The reclaimed/reused water can help meet the increasing municipal, industrial, and agricultural demands for water. Water production, water treatments and water distributions can be completely redesigned in order to alleviate water shortages in modern, advanced city planning. For years corporate decisions have been made on the basis of the data
found in transaction based systems. Transaction oriented data fits well
with standard database management systems because database management
systems structure data in a repetitive manner, where each occurrence of
data has the same structure as each other occurrence of data in a
table. But there is another viable and important source of data in the
corporation. That source of data is the information found in the form
of text. There are many forms of text in the corporation – emails,
spreadsheets, contracts, warranties, medical and healthcare
information, and so forth. Because text is not repetitive it does not
fit easily and well with standard database management systems. But now
there is textual ETL and the ability to build databases and data
warehouses that contain textual information. When textual data is able
to be transformed so that the text fits inside a standard database
management system, whole new opportunities for analysis and decision
making are created.
This two day lecture/workshop is about what is required to create the
textual, unstructured data warehouse. The first day is lecture and the
second day is a hands on workshop.
Technology Transfer’s International SOA Conference 2010 will answer
key questions on how to navigate the road ahead of your current SOA. A
lineup of experienced practitioners will present on topics that are
crucial for any organization that wants to move beyond small scale
projects and apply SOA across projects, across the Enterprise, extend
it to the cloud and to Business partners. Join us when we discuss:
Is SOA the Holy Grail that will finally allow us to align
Business and IT? We will look at the transition from a Business
Architecture to a SOA and how they can be linked together
While
the numbers of failed SOA projects are still high it is important to
arm yourself with hard facts before you meet your Business sponsors.
ROI calculations can convince even the most skeptical CFO
Moving
from a grass roots approach for building services to an Enterprise
strategy requires understanding the SOA maturity level of your
organization, defining a Roadmap for the evolution of SOA to the next
level, and employing the right Governance to the implementation of your
Roadmap
REST-based architectures seem to compete with the
traditional approaches to building a SOA – but do they really, or is it
just another flavor, and how do you decide when to use what?
Web
2.0 continues to be one of the hottest topics in IT. It is more than a
pretty face for services; and we must understand its implications on
how we architect services
Services have started to
proliferate throughout your organization – how do you put a structured
integration approach in place before your SOA spins out of control like
we have witnessed with point-to-point integration “quick fixes”?
Enterprise
Service Buses can be an essential tool to integrate and virtualize your
services, but they should not be confused with an architecture blueprint
Most
companies are using server virtualization to consolidate hardware and
save cost; however, this is typically driven by data center operations
and not in line with the SOA that Enterprise architects are concerned
with – but it should be, and cloud computing is the next step that has
to fit under the SOA umbrella
Security – while often an afterthought, it becomes more critical in a SOA environment
Business
Process Management (BPM) has a synergy with SOA that can provide the
needed flexibility to make alignment of Business and IT a reality

a very appealing scientific program.
The autonomic world is small and still diverse. Therefore, we are
delighted to welcome representatives from the American Autonomic
Society (AAS), from the European Federation of Neurological Societies
(EFNS) and from the International Society of Autonomic Neuroscience
(ISAN) with whom EFAS seeks a close relationship and joint meetings.
similar to the successful conferences held in cooperation in the past.
I am convinced that we will all have a scientifically thrilling meeting
in Giardini Naxos-Taormina and I am sure that our host, Giuseppe Vita,
will show us much of Sicily’s charm.
This two-day seminar is intended for Compliance Managers, Data
Architects, Database Administrators, Data Integration Developers and
Master Data Management Professionals, who are responsible for
Management of Enterprise Data. The seminar takes an in-depth look at
the Business problems caused by poorly managed data, and defines the
requirements that need to be met for a company to confidently define,
manage and share master, transactional, analytic and unstructured data
across operational and analytic applications and processes.
In order to achieving Enterprise Data Management a company needs to
invest in a suite of technologies that support end-to-end Data
Management activities. These include:
Enterprise Metadata Management
Data Modelling
Data Profiling
Data Cleaning
Data Integration (Batch, on-demand and Event-Driven)
Data Synchronisation
Master Data Management
Enterprise Content Management
During the two days we take an in-depth look at the technologies
needed in each of these areas as well as Best Practice approaches and
methodologies to Data Integration and Master Data Management.
A new wave of computing tools and applications – illustrated by
examples ranging from Wikipedia to MySpace to blogs – has grown in
popularity during the past five years, and is now reaching “mainstream”
status in some parts of society. More important, it is now being
investigated and adopted by CIO’s and senior executive in large,
pragmatic Business organizations as a way of reaching new markets,
increasing revenues and profits, increasing productivity and
effectiveness of its employees, and many other benefits.
“Enterprise 2.0” is the term now used to describe Business-Oriented
adoption and implementation of technologies, Business strategies and
cultural practices that were originally focused on informal networking
activities among consumers, students, and teenagers.
But most organizations believe that the technologies of Enterprise 2.0
are less important than the Business strategies that need to be
reexamined and updated.
How can Enterprise 2.0 help us find new markets and customers?
How can it help us find new products and services to offer existing customers?
How
can we find ways to increase collaboration between our employees,
customers, suppliers, and other citizens – using, for example,
strategies like “crowd-sourcing” - rather than operating entirely
within a fortified firewall barrier?
And how can we
improve the effectiveness of communications with our customers, so we
can spend more time listening to them, and less time preaching at them?
Enterprise 2.0 is a “strategic” issue: it requires senior corporate
executives – including the CIO and senior IT Managers – to rethink
basic assumptions about their Business, their customers, their
suppliers, their work-force, their revenue models, and the day-to-day
processes by which they carry out their Business.
This seminar is designed to help attendees understand the importance
and impact of Enterprise 2.0 from both a Business and technology
viewpoint.
Baveno V is a sequel of the Baveno I-IV Workshops, which
were held in 1990, 1995, 2000 and 2005. All the previous Workshops were
successful, as proven by more than 500 citations of the Workshop
reports in the medical literature.
After Baveno IV, important advances have been made in
understanding the pathophysiology of portal hypertension, as well as in
developing new treatments and new strategies for the management of
variceal bleeding. For these reasons, we thought that the time had come
to organize a fifth Baveno Workshop.
As for the previous editions, the aim of the Baveno V
Workshop is twofold: first, to review and put into perspective the
changes in diagnostic and therapeutic strategies that have occurred in
the past 5 years in the field of portal hypertension. Second, to
continue the effort - which had begun in Baveno I twenty years ago - of
producing updated definitions and guidelines aimed at improving the
quality of our future studies, and ultimately of patient management.
The Workshop will begin with an introduction which will
summarize the work previously done in the Baveno Workshops I to IV, and
a lecture which will examine the application of the Baveno
recommendations in trials and clinical practice.
The structure of the Workshop is similar to that of the
previous ones - there will be 5 sessions: four will deal with key
topics (pre-primary and primary prophylaxis, treatment of the acute
bleeding episode, secondary prophylaxis and vascular diseases of the
liver); the other will be devoted to the revision of the undecided or
controversial issues of Baveno I-IV concerning the definition of key
events, also in light of the feed-back that we have received about
their application in the field.
As usual, in each session there will be ample space for
discussion from the Panels and the Audience. This time, we have
introduced a voting system which will allow to assess the opinion of
the attendees on the new consensus statements that will be proposed by
the experts.
Between sessions, there will be 6 lectures, held by
world experts. Each of them will deal with important topics such as the
appropriate choice of end points for trials, the potential use of
prognostic variables to direct management in the acute setting, the
stages classification of cirrhosis, the reappraisal of coagulopathy in
chronic liver disease , anticoagulant treatment in cirrhosis with
portal vein thrombosis, and the relationship between variceal bleeding,
infections and the hepatorenal syndrome.
A new feature of the workshop will be the inclusion of
two symposia, at the beginning and the end, devoted to examine the
potential of new diagnostic tools and of new drugs for the management
of portal hypertension.
Another new feature is the `Report from Pediatrics`,
which is aimed at examining the similarities and differences between
adult and pediatric portal hypertension.
Almost every organization around the globe is now moving beyond
processes as solely a way of synchronizing change and is attempting to
transform the way their enterprise plans, manages, monitors and aligns
capabilities and motivation using a process-managed baseline. The bad
news is that most organizations have little ability to make it happen
in a consistent or reliable way and most managers do not really
understand what
it will take to succeed. This seminar provides a comprehensive
examination of the state of the art in Enterprise-level Business
Process Management (BPM). It addresses innovations in ways of managing
processes as assets of the enterprise. It focuses on maintaining the
critical role that processes play in the alignment of the strategic
objectives of the organization with what people do every day. It is
geared to those with or without process experience seeking to learn a
set of pragmatic practices packaged into a reusable BPM way of working
strategically and tactically. The facilitated workshop sessions are
highly interactive and ensure experience-sharing with other
delegates. Built on lessons learnt, both good and bad, from real
companies, this seminar provides you practices to deal with the real
and tough challenges you will face.
Delegates will benefit from the experience and wisdom of the world leader on the topic. Roger Burlton’s book "Business Process Management: Profiting from Process" will also be provided to all who attend.
Debris and hyper-concentrated flows are among the most frequent and destructive of all water related processes. They mainly affect mountain areas in a wide range of morphoclimatic environments and in recent years have attracted more and more attention from the scientific and professional communities, and concern from the public, due to the increasing frequency with which they occur and the death toll they claim.
Higher population pressures on natural resources and increased activity in hazard-prone areas have the potential to increase the magnitude of hazards. This calls for improvements in the criteria used to identify debris flow risk areas and to design suitable prevention and mitigation measures.
The conference will provide a forum for engineers, scientists and managers from laboratories, industries, governments and academia to interchange knowledge and expertise in the following fields; erosion and slope instability, sediment transport, debris flow and debris flood data acquisition, debris flow phenomenology and laboratory tests. It will also allow the discussion of the most advanced, state-ofthe-art methodologies in monitoring, modelling, mechanics, hazard prediction and risk assessment.
This seminar delivers the foundational skills and techniques required
to analyze and improve existing processes. It focuses on identifying
opportunities for process change and presents the analysis, modeling
and design techniques and tools required to improve performance.
Participants will learn to scope specific processes using graphical
models to document results. And, they will learn how to define
measurement techniques for evaluating outcomes. They will also learn
how to model As-Is and To-Be process workflows using industry standard
notations. The class is organized around a case study that will be
developed by attendees working in teams along with the instructor. The
approach is practical and business oriented and attendees will be able
to immediately apply what they learn within their own organization. It
naturally follows on from the lessons in the preceding class "Business Process Management" (BPM) to provide a complete methodology.
Flooding is a global phenomenon that claims numerous lives worldwide each year. In addition, many more people must endure the homelessness, disease and crop failures that are left in the wake of floods. The increased frequency of flooding in the last few years, coupled with climate change predictions and urban development, suggest that these statistics are set to worsen in the future. When flooding occurs in populated areas, it can cause substantial damage to property as well as threatening human life.
Apart from the physical damage to buildings, contents and loss of life, which are the most obvious impacts of floods upon households, other more indirect losses are often overlooked. These intangible impacts are generally associated with disruption to normal life as well as longer term health issues including stress related illness.
The conference provides a forum for researchers, academics and practitioners actively involved in improving our understanding of flood events including risk management and mitigation, as well as emergency response and many other related issues. The meeting will bring together engineers, scientists and other professionals from many countries involved in research and development activities in a wide range of technical and management topics related to flooding and its devastating effects.
Conferenc Topics:
Flood risk analysis and vulnerability assessment
Flood risk management and mitigation
Flood defence methods
Urban flood management
Flash floods
Coastal flooding
Flood case studies
Integrated catchment management
Risk assessment and decision making
Rehabilitation and restoration
Innovation in building and infrastructure resilience
If your processes don`t always produce the correct or consistent
results, then you probably have a decisioning problem. You need the
right techniques to fix these decisioning problems - process models,
use cases, data models and other Business analysis tools just don`t do
the job.
Decisions are day-to-day, minute-to-minute decisions in running the
Business. Generally, the decisions are made within some Business
process, which might or might not be formally organized by a model. The
important thing about these operational decisions is that they are
highly repetitive - they might be taking place
hundreds or thousands of times per day, per hour, or even per minute.
They are predictable and fairly well structured in terms of the kinds
of outcomes they produce. You want such decisions to be consistent and
traceable across platforms, channels and organizational units.
Business Rules are the criteria for making these decisions. Business
Rules should be treated as a first-class requirement so they can be
validated, managed and changed as easily and as quickly as possible.
For that, you need to know how to express Business Rules, and organize
them into decision tables wherever possible.
This seminar gives you the essential insights you need to achieve
order-of-magnitude improvements in your company`s capacity to manage
decisions. The result is simpler, smarter process models and a huge
boost in Business agility. Learn applied techniques from the recognized
world leader in the field.
All delegates will receive a free copy of Ron Ross`s book “Business Rule Concepts” (3rd Ed.), 2009.

This course teaches the students how to develop secure web
applications in today’s complex internetworked environment. Students
will receive a deep and thorough understanding of the most prevalent
and dangerous security defects in today’s applications. Additionally,
they will learn practical and actionable guidelines on how to remediate
against these common defects in Java/J2EE and how to test for them in
their own applications.
This class starts with a description of the security problems faced
by today`s software developer, as well as a detailed description of the
Open Web Application Security Project’s (OWASP) “Top 10” security
defects. These defects are studied in instructor-lead sessions as well
as in hands-on lab exercises in which each student learns how to
actually exploit the defects to “break into” a real Web application.
(The labs are performed in safe test environments.)
Remediation techniques and strategies are then studied for each
defect. Practical guidelines on how to integrate secure development
practices into the software development process are then presented and
discussed.
Dimensional Normal Form is a new approach to Data Warehouse Data
Architecture which combines the strengths of both the normalized and
the dimensional design paradigms to provide usable, flexible, scalable,
and high performing schemas for the Enterprise Data Warehouse.
Dimensional Normal Form allows an Enterprise Data Warehouse to be
constructed a Data Mart at a time without requiring an intermediate
Data Warehouse. While this sounds like the Kimball approach it is
differentiated by its completely normalized ETL dimensions and its
methods for tracking dimension history and differentiating contextual
from detail or audit history.
This seminar fully covers design techniques for Data Warehousing and BI
solutions based on the Dimensional Normal Form Data Architecture and
discusses the pros and cons of the many design decisions that must be
made. History considerations are discussed in detail along with their
impact on schema design.
Various schema design examples are presented and discussed. The seminar
participants will also be given design exercises will have their
solutions analyzed and discussed by the group.
The seminar will also present contrasting Data Warehouse architectures
and discuss the variations in physical design that are required for
different Data Warehousing environments.
The following seminar on “Template-Driven ETL” will show how to build,
populate and maintain the schemas built following the Dimensional
Normal Form Data Architecture.
The
NHS conference will include keynote addresses, special sessions, workshops, a
number of satellite events, free communications and massive poster
sessions.

Extract, transformation, and load process development (ETL) typically
accounts for more than half of the work on a Data Warehouse project.
Although complex and challenging a rigorous ETL process ensures data
quality and currency thus ensuring Data Warehouse credibility and
usefulness.
The good news is that using a standardized approach along with proven
techniques and templates can exponentially lessen the amount of effort
required and can ensure data quality, scalability and performance.
This class gives a broad overview of ETL processing for the Data
Warehouse and delves into the in-depth issues and considerations
involved. The class looks at the increasing need for Real-Time data
feeds to the Warehouse and discusses the various methods to meet these
needs. It specifically presents and teaches a template-driven approach
which quickens development speed and provides completeness.
These templates are demonstrated with working Informatica/Oracle code,
but can and have been adapted for other ETL tools and database
platforms. They are also applicable for hand-coded efforts.

The evolution of how companies employ SOA can be broken down into three
phases: the initial phase focuses on migrating from previous approaches
like component based applications to services and the best practices
around building services. Once a company has completed initial SOA
projects, the number of deployed services increases such that the key
question no longer is how to build services, but rather how to
efficiently govern the development and operation of services on an
Enterprise scale. The focus of a second phase SOA shifts to
reusability, securing how a growing number of clients access the
services, assuring that Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met, etc.
Service virtualization plays a key role in this phase, which provides a
decoupling of clients and services and replaces non-business logic in
services with configuration in middleware that acts as intermediaries,
like Enterprise Service Buses and SOA Appliances. While enterprise
architects focus on SOA, the data center and operations managers have
server virtualization on their agenda as a top priority to increase
efficiency and reduce cost. These two efforts have not been treated
synergistically by most companies, but they should. The provisioning of
virtual servers should be done using a SOA based service infrastructure
paradigm and the business services should automatically be mapped onto
infrastructure resources in order to implement on-demand resource
provisioning to better meet SLAs. This approach to the second phase in
the SOA evolution positions a company for a natural progression into
phase three, where services move into the cloud. Regardless whether we
move to an enterprise cloud or one that is hosted by an external
provider, everything we have learned and implemented in the first two
phases of SOA applies – even more so, since issues like security and
integration become more complex in the cloud and SOA Governance plays
an even bigger role. This seminar walks you through the three phases of
evolving SOA and how to use a maturity model to build your SOA Roadmap.
It then discusses how SOA Governance relates to business, IT, and
Enterprise Architecture (EA) governance; it details what comprises SOA
Governance, provides insights into current standards, vendor approaches
and technologies, and closes with a case study that illustrates some of
the governance principles and how to measure success.
Economic pressures are forcing companies to become more innovative
while also trying to reduce costs and leverage their BI and Data
Warehousing investments. In this tough climate, the information-driven
Business is key to success and organizations are looking to extend the
application scope and user reach of analytics for Business Decision
Making. However, information is growing at a phenomenal rate with many
companies now talking about supporting and managing petabyte data
systems. In parallel with these issues, the rate of change in
information-related technologies and products continues unabated.
Vendor consolidation and failures, and the emergence of lower-cost
solutions and new deployments models such as Open Source and Cloud
Computing make developing a flexible IT strategy for Business
Intelligence and Data Warehousing a daunting task. This Conference
examines the latest state of the art in Business Intelligence, Data
Warehousing and Data Management, and takes a detailed look at the key
technologies that will be driving next generation systems that support
the Information-Driven Business.

Throughout history, many leading thinkers have been inspired by the parallels between nature and human design, in mathematics, engineering and other areas.Today, the huge increase in biological knowledge, developments in design engineering systems, together with the growth in computer power and the developments in simulation modelling, have all made more comprehensive studies of nature possible.
Scientists and engineers now have at their disposal a vast array of relationships for materials, mechanisms and control. The resulting laws have been painstakingly assembled by observation and analysis and span the cosmic scale of space down to the molecular level of genetics. In particular, they have made us aware of the rich diversity of the natural world around us.
It is these developments which have prompted the reconvening of this international conference on Design and Nature. It is intended that the meeting will bring together researchers from around the world working on a variety of studies involving nature and their significance for modern scientific thought and design.
Application of electronics and electrical sciences for the enhancement of industrial and manufacturing processes. Latest developments in intelligent and computer control systems, robotics, factory communications and automation, flexible manufacturing, data acquisition and signal processing, vision systems, and power electronics.
we are proud to invite you to the European Symposium on Suicide and Suicidal Behaviour which in its 13th edition (ESSSB13) will be hosted in Rome, Italy, a city where Past Ages seem to revive, overlap and melt into Modern Living and Transcultural Exchange, thus constituting the Ideal Ground for the theme of the Symposium which is “Integration of Knowledge for an Interdisciplinary Approach to Suicidology and Suicide Prevention”. By keeping the legacy and sharing the common spirit of the previous and successful ESSSB symposia, ESSSB13 is in fact looking forward to novel perspective into the study of Suicidal Behaviour.
Basic components of studies on suicide (research, prevention, treatment) have undergone consistent progress, but given the peculiar nature of each one, their mutual dialogue and definitive exchange has proved to be scarce.
Inspiration of the 13th ESSSB is then to investigate possible modalities and paths of communication of these instances, favoring aggregation and interplay not only of single minds, but also at a more complex level of structurization of suicidology, with the ultimate scope of harmonizing its articulate development.
Over the
years, the field of Hematology has undergone enormous expansion in
clinical trials and basic research as well as in cutting-edge
technology.
The 1st World Congress on Controversies in Hematology (COHEM)
will function as an exclusive forum for international experts to share
and compare experiences, in order to outline the right treatment for
patients.
The concept of this Congress
stems from the fact that current congresses fail to promote true
clinical discussion between practicing physicians and researchers on
unresolved pressing issues.
The Symposium will consider generic methodologies and techniques applicable to intelligent autonomous vehicles. These include mobile robots on land, at sea, in air or in space, multi vehicle systems and networks of autonomous vehicles. It will address sensing, sensor integration and perception, architectures, planning, mission and motion control, navigation and cooperative navigation techniques, SLAM, teleoperation, human and vehicle interaction and practical applications. The focus of the Symposium will span from intelligent vehicle control to auxiliary systems support.

Radiology International is
the leader in small, personal, friendly international radiology
congresses. Since 1979, we have concentrated on one or two very special
venues per year so that you can be assured of very personal service.
Our meetings are limited in participation so that we can take you to
places you may never have the chance to go on your own, such as
banquets in royal palaces and receptions in castles and stately homes.
We go off the beaten track such as to Baden-Baden in Germany and
Queenstown in New Zealand.
The objective is to bring together radiologists worldwide to discuss the latest advances in radiology:
to give radiologists of different countries the opportunity to compare and contrast their practice of radiology;
and to encourage mutual cooperation between radiologists of different nationalities.
At the completion of the congress the participants will be able to:
Define the use of 3TMRI in MSK imaging
Assess the value of MDCT in abdominal trauma
Analyze the role of high resolution CT of the lungs.
Determine the use of MDCT in diagnosis of causes of the acute abdomen.
Neuroradiologists
all over the world
are invited to
Italy in Autumn
2010 to take part
in the XIX Symposium
Neuroradiologicum.
I
was entrusted with
the task of organising
this meeting four
years ago during
the XVII SNR chaired
by Luc Picard in
Paris. This will
be the most important
event in my career
and I intend to
devote all my energy
to organising it
as efficiently as
possible respecting
the principles and
the universalistic
spirit of the SNR
founders. Anton
Valavanis has generously
agreed to help me
as Vice President
and I am confident
in his support and
advice.
Ideally,
I would like everyone
to attend but plainly
our day-to-day
practice makes that
impossible. To
overcome this problem
I plan to prepare
a whole
series of materials:
printed matter,
proceedings, videos,
etc. to be made
available free
of charge to all
neuroradiologists
on request via
the
internet website
and on CD-Rom.
I
propose two main
topics: Interventional
Neuroradiology and
the neuroradiologist
as a clinician fully
responsible for
his/her patient,
and the new research
achievements of
Diagnostic Neuroradiology
in the study of
brain physiology.
Then we will analyse
the trends in neuroradiology
at the crossroads
of the neurological
sciences in terms
of ongoing revolutionary
acquisitions in
technology, research,
advances in neurosurgery,
neurology and radiology,
tackling the fundamental
issues of the end
of life and decisions
stemming from what
we call brain death.
We
shall also focus
on training neuroradiologists
of the future.
The cultural basis
and knowledge essential
for both diagnostic
and therapeutic
neuroradiological
practice are increasingly
vast and complex.
As individual neuroradiologists
can no longer master
the myriad aspects
of our discipline,
we need to decide
on the essential
foundations to
be shared by all
before choosing
to develop specialist
branches and how
this can be best
translated into
university neuroradiology
courses.
It is our pleasure to invite you to the International Dental Conference: Future Trends in Implantology, which will take place in Florence, Italy on November 11-13, 2010. Designed for leading scientific researchers and clinicians, this prestigious conference is expected to draw hundreds of highly qualified participants from around the world. Enhance your team`s knowledge on the latest in surgical/prosthetic procedures, treatment planning, frequently asked questions, and peri-implant therapy.
Postgraduate Course will cover “Abdominal and Gastrointestinal Emergency Radiology”. The increasingly important clinical role of radiology is particularly highlighted in emergency situations. Significant technical advances of broadly available imaging systems, considerable clinical skills of well-trained radiologists, and the rising demand of immediate decision making are some of the issues giving radiology the key role in managing these patients. Speakers in the Postgraduate Course will review imaging features of the most relevant pathologies in this setting, such as portal vein thrombosis, cholecystitis, biliary pancreatitis, splenic infarction/rupture, appendicitis, appendagitis, diverticulitis, bowel obstruction, mesenteric ischemia, abdominal trauma etc. The one day course will provide a comprehensive and practical guide of how to deal with the most common abdominal emergency situations. In addition, less frequent differential diagnoses will be discussed. Don’t miss this unique opportunity of up-dating your knowledge in abdominal emergency radiology!

Our buildings need a plethora of energy. Raising
energy prices, dangerous dependency on energy imports and the ongoing
climate change require rapid action. Therefore various technical and
economic alternatives are developed to operate economically.
In
South Tyrol we created the concept “CasaClima”, which considers these
aspects and so the Province of Bolzano has adopted a leading position
regarding efficient construction. In the field of domestic architecture
this concept displays a new construction culture, which combines
sustainability, drastic reduction of energy costs and a perfect
interior climate.
FESTIVITY is the Italy’s leading show, and one of the biggest in Europe, for Christmas, Carnival, Easter and Halloween decorations, games, toys, paper and party goods.
It is a not to be missed opportunity for those wanting to meet Italian and European specialists, wholesalers and large-scale distribution buyers.
PITTI BIMBO: AN INCREASINGLY ACCURATE MAP OF CHILDREN’S FASHIONS “Pitti Bimbo is the most important international trade fair featuring children’s and teen fashions”, says Agostino Poletto, deputy general manager of Pitti Immagine, “it is the only show that presents a complete overview of the children’s wear world with a precise segmentation of its many looks: from the classic-elegance of the big names at Pitti Bimbo to the sportswear at Sport Generation and the street couture at SuperStreet, from the creativity of the fair-trade brands at EcoEthic and the research at New View, to the avant-garde collections at Apartment, to textiles and design for the tiniest of the little ones. At each edition we try to define this mapping more accurately: so we did some things with New View, that has always been the fair’s “research lab”, and we are making it into an experimental model from the exhibition standpoint so that it becomes an ideal link with Apartment, creating a sort of fashion district within the event. And there is more: the Pitti Bimbo fashion shows, will have a larger following than ever, will be enriched with even further new events and new expressions, “after-hours” presentations and entertainment that pick up on the latest happenings in style and on the markets.
At its 31st edition, the expo is acknowledged as the world´s most important in the artisan gelato sector, a primary European showcase for artisan Italian confectionery and is also strengthening its position in the artisan bakery field.
PITTI FILATI IS FOCUSING ON RESEARCH AND CREATIVIITY WITH NEW CONCEPTS AND A NEW LAYOUT FOR THE SPAZIO RICERCA. FOLLOWING THE SUCCESS OF THE FIRST EDITION, SYNERGY WITH PRIMA MODA-TESSUTO WILL BE BACK AT THE FORTEZZA
“The strength of Pitti Filati lies in the fact that it is a real research lab”, says Agostino Poletto, deputy general manager of Pitti Immagine, “it is the privileged vantage point for viewing fashion trends of the future. Our audience of top buyers from all over the world – as well as designers from the biggest names in fashion – comes to Florence to see excellence in international yarn manufacturing and to get new ideas and inspiration. That is why we have again revolutionized the Pitti Filati Spazio Ricerca. Starting with this edition it will be in the heart of the fair, on the Lower Level of the Main Pavilion. Within the “itinerary” that moves through the collections there will be five dedicated stages whose contents and inputs on trends will develop into a creative symbiosis with the yarns and with the services and technologies and the style bureaus in the Fashion at Work section. We believe that putting the collections and the Spazio Ricerca in a single area will provide a significant stimulus for our buyers’ research work. And, the opportunities for a better grasp of the trends will be increased by PRIMA Moda Tessuto the concomitant event sponsored by the Consorzio Pratotrade that made its debut at the Fortezza da Basso during the last edition of Pitti Filati”.

FIERAGRICOLA is the only major event in Italy that deals with
agricultural engineering, animal farming and services for companies to
offer a complete panorama of the agricultural sector.
There are now five theme areas, ensuring an even more complete
presentation of products, services and technologies for agricultural
production; an approach entirely in line with the needs of professional
operators.
Animal nutrition, health, genetics, Technologies and buildings for breeding, Veterinary instruments and equipment.
Equipment and tools for gardening.
Tractors, motor-cultivators, motor-systems, motor-mowers and others machines.
Agro-pharmaceuticals and fertilizers, seeds and fruit-tree nurseries, biological crop defence products, pheromone traps.
Technological innovation and information technology applied to agriculture.
The objectives of the European Union regarding sustainable energy and
the reduction of greenhouse gas, fossil fuel price oscillations and,
especially, the role of agriculture in safeguarding the environment all
demand new impetus to implement the “Green Economy”. A possibility for
improving the income of agricultural companies, already faced by
increases in production costs and falling commodity prices. Income
from sustainable energy in agriculture is much more than just a
challenge. It is an opportunity, that many companies in the primary
sector have already grasped. Mention need only be made of figures for
agro-energy in Italy and Europe, where production of sustainable energy
is now in excess of 3,000 billion kW/hours.
Multifunctionality in agriculture also passes through clean energy:
complementary income to primary production, closely linked with
agricultural activity, that also helps reduce energy bills for fossil
fuels, to the advantage of the environment and company financial
statements.
New forms of energy - as a source of income and the key for strategic
and effective interpretation of a new awareness combining environment,
business and development - are now brought together at VeronaFiere.
Bioenergy Expo is the exhibition of sustainable energy designed to
offer new income opportunities for agricultural entrepreneurs and
present information and opportunities to energy sector operators
concerning the generation of energy from agricultural sources.
The event is scheduled alongside Fieragricola - and the last edition event attracted an impressive 127,500 operators.

In 2001, the First Advers Reactions to Bovine Proteins Meeting represented the state of the art in diagnosis, prevention and treatment of allergy conditions associated with cow’s milk consumption.
Melloni Paediatria and the University of Milan are committed to this new scientific venture: the 2010 edition is an extension of themes developed during the previous meetings and focuses on state-of-the-art issues related to IgE-mediated milk allergy.
The 2nd edition of the Milan Meeting “Adverse Reactions to Bovine Proteins: Changing Patterns, Mechanism and Treatment” is scheduled on February 4th-6th February, 2010.
This event will be held in conjunction with the World Allergy Organisation Meeting for the presentation of the new WAO diagnostic and treatment Guidelines on Cow’s Milk Allergy under the Chairmanship of Professor Alessandro Fiocchi.
The document, entitled “Diagnosis and Rationale for Action against Cow’s Milk Allergy” – the DRACMA document – will be presented in December 2009 at the Buenos Aires WAO Congress and will be released during the Milan Meeting in 2010.
We are excited to once again have assembled many of the leading
clinicians and scientists from around the world to drive forward the
scientific and medical research agenda in Aspergillus and aspergillosis for
the 4th Advances Against Aspergillosis conference. There was an
overwhelming feeling of success from the first Advances Against
Aspergillosis meeting in 2004, in San Francisco where we had 364 attendees
from 28 countries, the second meeting in 2006 in Athens with 464 attendees
from 44 countries, and the third meeting in 2008, in Miami, with 351
attendees from 48 countries. The meetings were very productive for
exchanging clinical and research ideas and forging new collaborations.
This conference has now clearly established itself as the premier forum for
detailed and dedicated discussion of all aspects of Aspergillus infection
and research, and previously published proceedings from the three prior
conferences have been very well-received.
The Aspergillus field is in a state of rapid advancement, including
the publication of numerous post-genomic papers and substantial advances in
translational and diagnostic research. Additionally, the launch of several
newer antifungals in the last few years and anticipated clinical trials of
others is an important therapeutic step forward, without precedent in
mycology. Itraconazole resistance has emerged, and combination therapy is
now in clinical trials. Despite the incidence of invasive aspergillosis
increasing and disease being the leading fungal cause of patient mortality,
prior to the 2004 Advances Against Aspergillosis meeting, there had been
limited communication among experts in the area. This is another chance to
gather the world`s aspergillosis experts in one venue. A fundamental tenet
of this research colloquium continues to be to engender collaborative
relationships amongst clinicians, scientists, and industry to further
advance the field.

SAPORE is a new event launched to represent in an in-depth modern and
practical form all the beverage, food and seafood for the Ho.Re.Ca.
channel, creating an absolutely unique appointment. Starting from the
experience of six different expos (MIA, Frigus, Oro Giallo, MSE, DiVino
Lounge and Pianeta Birra Beverage & Co), it redistributes
companies´ proposals according to two consumption channels: bars and
food service/catering.
Eating and drinking out have new rites
and times, as well as changing consumption methods. Just when a survey
has monitored what exists, something new and often irrepressible
appears.
Aware of this fact, SAPORE has redesigned the proposal
of eating out, free from schematism, offering trade members a range of
trendsetting new products that can enrich what they offer their
clientele.
Another new feature is that SAPORE has dedicated a
zone - SAPORE INNOVATION AREA - to hosting all the new products
presented at the expo. The area will be divided according to the target
channel: bars, restaurants, collective food service and large-scale
distribution. A panel of experts will select the best products in each
category, which will be highlighted in special showcases and will
receive the 2010 SAPORE INNOVATION AWARD.
Visitors
to the expo will also be able vote for their favourite products and the
result of this "extended" jury will be announced on the
afternoon of Wednesday 24th February. All the new products will also be illustrated in the SAPORE INNOVATION BOOK, which will be distributed free of charge to all visitors.
Not
just new products, but new ideas too: trade members will have hands-on
previewsof the proposals from the best design studios in the
Con-Temporary Taste exhibition area: thanks to flexible design
solutions, it will be possible to change look, without necessarily
having to renovate the venue.
If a trade fair has the job of
looking to the future, particularly in a difficult economic period in
which innovation, creativity and business courage are fundamental
components for instilling new life into the market, SAPORE is Rimini
Fiera´s reply to this winning outlook.
