This is a new great opportunity to welcome our friends from the
Radiation Oncology Group of EORTC. Ten years ago, in spring of 2000,
just after the change of the millennium, I had the pleasure of hosting
you in my city. Now, I am keen to repeat this terrific experience.
Today, economics is not in its best moments and funding is scarce for
all, mainly for some medical specialties. This is especially harder for
Radiation Oncology, as we have often faced such difficulties, and for
many years, we have been working to demonstrate we are a key for cancer
treatment. Despite this, we are preparing an excellent occasion to meet
with all our ROG fellow members, as well as others that would like join
us.
ROG is, arguably,
the most active group in the history of EORTC, if based not just on
scientific production but also in the personal sphere. Becoming a
member of the ROG gave me the opportunity to learn a lot, including
being active, in many clinical trials and the opportunity to share nice
papers! Thanks to you all, one feels happy and at home with the ROG.

After almost twenty years of efforts towards augmenting fuzzy systems with learning and adaptation capabilities, one of the most prominent approaches to do so has resulted in the emergence of genetic fuzzy systems. These kinds of hybrid systems meld the approximate reasoning method of fuzzy systems with the adaptation capabilities of evolutionary algorithms. On the one hand, fuzzy systems have demonstrated the ability to formalize in a computationally efficient manner the approximate reasoning typical of humans. On the other hand, genetic (and in general evolution-inspired) algorithms constitute a robust technique in complex optimization, identification, learning, and adaptation problems. In this way, their confluence leads to increased capabilities for the design and optimization of fuzzy systems.
GEFS2010 will become the fourth workshop in a series of highly successful symposiums dedicated to serving the needs of academics and practitioners in computational intelligence following the previous workshops in Granada (Spain), Ambleside (UK), and Witten-Bommerholz (Germany). The objective of GEFS2010 is to facilitate the promotion of novel problems, research, results, and future directions in the growing area of genetic and evolutionary fuzzy systems. GEFS2010 will provide an opportunity to meet old friends, make new contacts and exchange ideas.

Scheduling and performing plant shutdowns can have all too familiar pit falls, which, in many ways, can be extremely costly to the business and organisation.
This event will focus on industry best practice, via keynote speakers, on STO innovation and future strategy.
This 2-day meeting will also observe the following areas :
- European case studies - What can we learn from each other`s strategies? Comparative insights into real application, pit falls and successes.
- Cost analysis - How do we ensure pinpointed forecasting?
- Implementation and value of detailed turnaround work processes
- What best practices can we implement throughout the organisation to
optimize STO performance and eliminate dysfunctional habits?
- Recruitment -
With the evolution in Shutdown/outage job titles, how can we best
select top employees with a specialised skill-set and the most relevant
remit? How can we ensure the reduction of human error?
- Application -
What are the future core competencies in turnaround management? What
best practices can we implement to re-structure any dysfunctional
processes?
- Organisational structure - Is your organisational structure at its most efficient in order to perform streamlined STO process?

Dear Friends and Colleagues,
We have great pleasure in inviting you to participate in the 13th World Congress on Cancers of the Skin (WCCS) that will be held in Madrid, the capital of Spain, from April 7-10, 2010. Six years ago, the delegates of the Skin Cancer Foundation had to choose the venue for the 9th World Congress, which was then held in Seville (Spain). The preparations for the Congress were undertaken by the Spanish Association of Skin Cancer (ASECCUT) together with the Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (AEDV), and was a great success. Now that the World Congress will be held in Spain for a second time, the ASECCUT and the AEDV made a proposal to the Skin Cancer Foundation for the 13th WCCS to be held in Madrid, which has become a consolidated congress venue. Experience has proven that the congresses held in Madrid have always fulfilled their participants’ expectations. The recent Centennial Congress of the Spanish Academy of Dermatology is an example. In a year of changes and difficulties, such as this one, the fact that this Congress has once again returned to Spain, also has a general and very relevant symbolic meaning. The World Congress on Cancers of the Skin in Madrid has been made possible thanks to the magnificent work done by our colleagues in Madrid to further the growth and improvement of our Association.
The Local Organising Committee is very proud to host dermatologists, oncologists, epidemiologists, physicians and all the world’s best professionals who work in the field of skin cancer. The venue of the 13th WCCS will be the Hotel Meliá Castilla, which is already well-known to many of you from the various congresses held there by the International Society of Dermatologic Surgery and other international Symposia. Its location and many conference rooms make it ideally suited for this type of Congress. In general lines, the scientific programme has been designed to reflect the ongoing endeavour of the ASECCUT and AEDV to make available to their members the latest developments in dermatological science and it will surely be welcomed by those attending the congress. The programme will feature plenary sessions, symposia and satellite symposia that will provide ample opportunities to get up to date on epidemiology, diagnostics and therapeutic developments relating to Skin Cancers. The Evening Session on Public Education around the World will be of special interest, and also has press participation.

This third International Conference on Harmonisation between Architecture and Nature (Eco-Architecture 2010) follows the two successful meetings which were held in the New Forest, UK (2006) and in the Algarve, Portugal (2008).
Eco-Architecture ought to be in harmony with nature, including its immediate environs. Decisions have to be taken on ecological grounds concerning locations, siting and orientation, as well as the well-informed choice of materials.
Eco-Architecture can provide imaginative and expressive solutions and is driven by a generation of highly creative designs. It has important cultural as well as architectural impacts.
Eco-Architecture makes every effort to minimise the use of energy at each stage of the building`s life cycle, including that embodied in the extraction and transportation of materials, their fabrication, their assembly into the building and ultimately the ease and value of their recycling when the building`s life is over. The design may also take into consideration the use of energy in building maintenance and changes in its use, not to mention its lighting, heating and cooling, particularly where the energy consumed involves the emission of greenhouse gases. Substantial savings can be achieved by the choice of materials appropriate for passive energy systems, especially natural ventilation, summer shading and winter solar heat gain. Solar and wind energy can provide heating and electric power.

Sixth International Conference on Urban Regeneration and Sustainability
This Conference aims to address the many inter-related aspects of the urban environment from transport and mobility to social exclusion and crime prevention. The meeting will build on the contributions made in previous conferences, which successfully managed to provide an international view of the problems facing modern cities and their solutions.
Urban areas produce a series of environmental problems arising from the consumption of natural resources and the consequent generation of waste and pollution. These problems contribute to the development of social and economic imbalances. All these problems, that continue to grow in our society, require the development of new solutions.

In
recent years the field of cryopreservation has witnessed enormous
expansion in clinical and basic data. Conferences are becoming more and
more informative but there is often only limited time for thorough
discussion. There seems to be a gap between the enormous expansion of
knowledge in the field of cryopreservation and the dissemination of
that knowledge. This development has created a great need to debate the
many controversial issues and crystallize them into clinical
conclusions.
This controversies Congress stems from the fact
that current congresses fail to promote true clinical discussion
between practicing physicians and researchers on unresolved pressing
issues.

Freezing,
vitrification and freeze drying • Freezing of stem cells • Cord Blood

Engaged employees care about the future of the company and are willing to invest the discretionary effort. Engaged employees feel a strong emotional bond to the organization that employs them.
Only 29% of employees are actively engaged in their jobs. These employees work with passion and feel a profound connection to their company. People that are actively engaged help move the organization forward. 84% of highly engaged employees believe they can positively impact quality of their organization`s products, compared with only 31% of the disengaged 72% of highly engaged employees believe they can positively affect customer service, versus 27% of the disengaged 68% of highly engaged employees believe they can positively impact costs in their job or unit, compared with just 19% of the disengaged.
Engaged employees feel a strong emotional bond to the organization that employs them. This is associated with people demonstrating willingness to recommend the organization to others and commit time and effort to help the organization succeed. It suggests that people are motivated by intrinsic factors (e.g. personal growth, working to a common purpose, being part of a larger process) rather than simply focusing on extrinsic factors (e.g., pay/reward).
During the seminar our experienced speakers will present on:
- Engagement Theory - latest updates on the thinking, trends etc - gets everyone on same page as to subject
- Engagement Survey - Case Study on a company`s experience and particular focus on where they have done something different with the analysis
- Results to Action - Case Study where company has made inroads into driving the business to own the results and made tangible actions against it
- Drivers of Engagement - Insight into a company who has done work in response to a particular engagement issue or driver.
- Wider Engagement initiatives - case study of company working on world cafes, brand alignment programme.

From its inception, Roots has always provided the tools to enable the
members to voice their interests, their perspective and their concerns,
regardless of geographic boundaries, educational background, titles or
affiliations and to speak in a common language – endodontics, and now
implantology. The members were encouraged to foster creativity and
share and care with others, to provide original content and identify
with being a ROOTER. This came to exemplify the highest standards of
excellence, to propose vistas and horizons that were easily achieved as
the forum had no political, institutional or academic affiliation and
the only regulatory oversight was the ability to effect positive
change.
The acceptance that allowing for mistakes is the most effective
mechanism to ensure optimizing success, that a crucible need not be
concerned with pleasing the many, rather it should challenge and take
risks to find the “next best thing” has hallmarked all the ROOTS
initiatives with industry, with academia and with technology. The ROOTS

great pleasure, as Congress President and Chair of the Scientific
Program Committee, to invite you to come and experience the next step
of this annual European event with us.
As in previous years the Scientific Program Committee (SPC), its
Advisory Board and all other committees involved have done their utmost
to create a program that promotes excellence in all fields of
hematology. Its Plenary Sessions are designed to be of interest to all
specialties with key note speakers providing interesting presentations.
The highly valued Education Sessions and Hematology-in-Focus offer a
wide range of topics discussed on many levels. Joint symposia will be
organized with the American Society of Hematology, the European School
of Haematology and a new collaboration with the Japanese Society of
Hematology has resulted in a special symposium.
Another highlight in the organization of the Congress is the
well-established Molecular Hemopoiesis Workshop, preceded in the
morning with the brand new Laboratory Hematology Workshop. This new
workshop will bring an extended focus on diagnostics into the program.
Furthermore, the lunch debates are in heated preparation at the moment,
already causing a rumor within the SPC. The Meet-the-Experts will offer
a chance to discuss and put your questions before an authority in
hematology and the Scientific Working Groups are designing their
sessions to show also their valued scientific work.

The European Conference on Research Methodology for Business and Management Studies (ECRM 2010) is an opportunity for academics to share the latest thinking on research strategies, tactics and paradigms. The variety of methods in common use and the continuing debate on what constitutes ‘new knowledge’ makes this a lively field and one which affects all academics and others involved in business research. The search for new ideas, new methodologies and even new paradigms is both endless and fascinating. This conference offers an opportunity to engage with contemporary thinking in Business research and join in the sometimes lively debates, inside and outside of the formal sessions, that are a regular feature of the conference.

Do you want to improve efficiency and innovation in your synthetic route design, development and optimisation?
The efficient conversion of a chemical process into a process for manufacture on tonnage scale has always been of importance in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. However, in the current economic and regulatory climate, it has become increasingly vital and challenging to do so efficiently.
At our Organic Process Research & Development Conference, you will hear detailed presentations and case studies from top international chemists. Our hand-picked programme of speakers has been put together specifically for an industrial audience. They will discuss the latest issues relating to synthetic route design, development and optimisation in the pharmaceutical, fine chemical and allied fields.
Unlike other conferences, practically all our speakers are experts from industry, which means the ideas and information you take home will be directly applicable to your own work.
The smaller numbers at our conferences create a more intimate atmosphere. You will enjoy plenty of opportunities to meet and network with speakers and fellow attendees during the reception, sit-down lunches and extended coffee breaks in a relaxed and informal environment. Together, you can explore the different strategies and tactics evolving to meet today’s challenges.

Dear Colleagues,
It is our pleasure to invite you to the 2nd International Conference on Fixed Combination in the Treatment of Hypertension, Dyslipidemia and Diabetes Mellitus, which will take place in Valencia, Spain, on December 10-12, 2009.
The incidence of hypertension associated with various components of the cardiometabolic syndrome is increasing worldwide. And so is the realization that concurrent treatments to effectively control all these components are underutilized, despite their proven value in preventing cardiovascular complications. One way to improve utilization of available pharmacologic agents is to use fixed combinations of drugs with synergistic or additive properties.
More and more combinations are coming out on the market proving their effectiveness in randomized controlled trials and in large multicenter studies. Compliance of patients is of utmost importance in the control of any chronic disease and multiple coexisting disorders. Fixed combinations can facilitate treatment and improve this issue enormously. The advantages of a fixed combination include use of fewer pills with low individual drug doses that will foster better tolerability, convenience, lower cost and thus ensure better compliance.
We invite experts in the fields of internal medicine, cardiology, nephrology, family medicine and primary care physicians, as well as nurse practitioners and physicians` assistants, to meet and discuss the role of fixed combinations in the treatment of hypertension and dyslipidemia in today`s medicinal world. The Conference Venue, The Valencia Conference Center, is is set on The Cortes Valencianas Avenue, one of the main avenues leading into the modern metropolis of Valencia. It is close to the international airport at Manises and has excellent links into the city center by metro, bus and tram.
We look forward to welcoming you to Valencia and hope that you will also experience the culture and generosity of Spain that we believe will make the Conference a special memory to take home.
Yours sincerely,
The Organizing Committee

As part of its ongoing evolution CERO A CUATRO is changing its name to
better adapt to the supply available at Feria Valencia and the product
offer demanded by the trade professionals visiting the show. The
INTERNATIONAL BABYCARE FAIR is the new name for the only platform in
Spain bringing together both Spanish and international professionals.
This unique event gives them a chance to showcase their new
introductions in prams, strollers, travel cots, car seats, furniture
and accessories for babies and toddlers, light baby products, textile
products, layettes and toys for toddlers. The show banner in blue, a
colour readily associated with the childcare sector, includes the
rotating slogan Everything a baby needs in more than 14 different
languages, thus further underscoring the fair`s international profile
both in terms of supply and demand.
This
event maintains its market position as a show where hi-tech advances
sit comfortably alongside the latest trends in design and fashion. In
this regard, the fair`s planning committee is working hard to promote a
platform for businesses interested in introducing highly innovative
products related with safety for babies both in cars and home, or baby
products on wheels such as strollers, increasingly more easier to
handle, lighter and, above all, more comfortable for carrying babies.
85% of exhibitors have already confirmed participation at the fair
85%
of the exhibitors participating at the last edition of CERO A CUATRO
are repeating again at the upcoming International Babycare Fair,
scheduled for January 22nd to 24th at Feria Valencia. With many months
still to go, this forecasts a resounding success and an increase in
participating brands.
"Participating in CERO A CUATRO gives you a
first-hand overview of the latest introductions from Europe`s leading
brands and happening market trends" says Jose Vicente Fernández,
director of the fair.
Over recent months the fair has implemented an
intense promotional campaign aimed at showcasing a broader baby product
offer. Our team is currently focused on Spain, with actions in the
various production areas of interest such as Valencia, Murcia,
Catalonia, Aragon, Basque Country, Madrid and Andalusia. The selected
areas account for 80% of total Spanish production.
Several new companies are currently showing their
interest in exhibiting at CERO A CUATRO, viewing the fair as the ideal
showcase to present their latest introductions and also as a business
platform.

The Spanish Fair of Children´s Fashion started out in 1964 as a show
within the Toy Fair. Three years later, in 1967, it became an
independent monographic fair in its own right. It acquired its
international status as the International Fair of Children´s Fashion in
1976, and then in 1978 it incorporated men´s and women´s fashion
becoming the International Fashion Fair.
Finally, in 1982 the
fair changed to its present day status, incorporating young people´s
fashion and taking on its current title International Fair of
Children´s and Young People´s Fashion (FIMI).
The fair grew rapidly
from one year to the next, and ever since 1984 it was been held twice a
year with an Autumn/Winter season show and a Spring/Summer season show.
Responding
to its continuing success, and as part of its ongoing concern to meet
the needs of the children´s fashion industry, FIMI changed the dates of
the fair in 1987 bringing forward the Autumn-Winter season from
February to January and the Spring-Summer season from September to
June. This made the fair compatible with the international fashion

The purpose of the 2nd International Conference on Agents and Artificial Intelligence (ICAART) is to bring together researchers, engineers and practitioners interested in the theory and applications in these areas. Two simultaneous but strongly related tracks will be held, covering both applications and current research work within the area of Agents, Multi-Agent Systems and Software Platforms, Distributed Problem Solving and Distributed AI in general, including web applications, on one hand, and within the area of non-distributed AI, including the more traditional areas such as Knowledge Representation, Planning, Learning, Scheduling, Perception and also not so traditional areas such as Reactive AI Systems, Evolutionary Computing and other aspects of Computational Intelligence and many other areas related to intelligent systems, on the other hand.
A substantial amount of research work is ongoing in these knowledge areas, in an attempt to discover appropriate theories and paradigms to use in real-world applications. Much of this important work is therefore theoretical in nature. However there is nothing as practical as a good theory, as Boltzman said many years ago, and some theories have indeed made their way into practice. Informatics applications are pervasive in many areas of Artificial Intelligence and Distributed AI, including Agents and Multi-Agent Systems; This conference intends to emphasize this connection, therefore, authors are invited to highlight the benefits of Information Technology (IT) in these areas. Ideas on how to solve problems using agents and artificial intelligence, both in R&D and industrial applications, are welcome. Papers describing advanced prototypes, systems, tools and techniques and general survey papers indicating future directions are also encouraged. Papers describing original work are invited in any of the areas listed below. Accepted papers, presented at the conference by one of the authors, will be published in the Proceedings of ICAART with an ISBN. A book with the best papers of the conferene will be published by Springer-Verlag. Acceptance will be based on quality, relevance and originality. Both full research reports and work-in-progress reports are welcome. There will be both oral and poster sessions.
