Congress of the International Pediatric Nephrology Association and the
American Society of Pediatric Nephrology invite you to attend the
Congress from August 29 – September 2, 2010 at the Hilton New York. In
keeping with the IPNA`s long standing tradition of providing a friendly
international venue for an exciting up to date review of the advances
in pediatric nephrology, the New York City meeting is perfectly poised
to welcome our global IPNA community of clinicians and investigators to
what will certainly be an outstanding scientific gathering.
In conjunction with the 11th International Workshop on Developmental Nephrology (IWDN) Genetic Programming and the Kidney: Progenitors, Signaling and Morphogenesis in Health and Disease
COMS brings together leaders from all
over the world and every sector of industry; from high tech companies,
national labs, regional development and government agencies, investment
and consulting groups, market researchers, educators and students; all
sharing, learning and creating partnerships in an open interactive
setting. This is a powerful environment focused on accelerating
commercialization activity among established and emerging micro and nano
businesses.
We are looking for more device, sensors, materials, equipment,
packaging, integration, modeling, and convergence abstracts oriented to
commercial applications for air/water filtration, mining, environmental
remediation, unmanned vehicles, aerospace, defense, mining,
transportation, green/clean cities, energy; solar, batteries, and
fuels. We are also seeking more investment/funding and economic
development submissions.
The overall mission of the “Advanced Psychometric
Methods for Cognitive Aging Research” conference series is to promote
the use of state of the art psychometric and related data analytic
methods in cognitive aging research. Specific objectives are:
1) expose developing and established
researchers in cognitive aging to modern psychometric techniques
2) expose experts in psychometric theory and
methods to the practical and theoretical concerns of cognitive aging
research
3) encourage collaborative research and
production of manuscripts based on the interactions of researchers,
psychometricians, and statisticians during these conferences.
Conference participants will have diverse
backgrounds in terms of level of training, experience, areas of
expertise, gender and ethnicity. Each conference will be organized
around an existing dataset from studies that have been highly
influential in cognitive aging research. Each meeting will include
didactic training on advanced psychometric and statistical methods
relevant to these studies, and a major part of the program will be
devoted to data analyses that address specific scientific hypotheses
relevant to the parent studies. Workgroups will continue to interact
after the conference to follow these analyses to completion of
scientific manuscripts.
Didactic training will address basics of item
response theory, latent variable modeling, and other data analytic
methods relevant to the studies and data sets being used. More in depth
mentored experience in using these methods will be provided during the
workgroups. Diversity in substantive and methodological expertise of
participants will be emphasized so that the conference promotes learning
for all participants and establishes an informal network to enhance
research on cognitive changes associated with aging.
For GI:This two-day course consists of a practical review of selected subjects in diagnostic surgical and endoscopic pathology of the gastrointestinal tract for pathologists, pathology residents, gastroenterologists, and gastroenterology fellows (preparing for boards). In addition to lectures on neoplastic and non-neoplastic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, the course includes over 12 hours of microscopy (microscopes provided) based on a unique collection of hundreds of endoscopic biopsies.
New Feature: Special break-out sessions for gastroenterologists.
Note: Each participant will be given the syllabus on CD. There will be not printed syllabus.
For Hepatic:This course provides a review of commonly encountered problems in diagnostic liver pathology at a level suitable for hepatologists, gastroenterologists, and gastroenterology/hepatology fellows. Areas to be covered incldue hepatitis and other infectious diseases, and toxic injury due to alcohol and drugs, cholestasis, developmental and metabolic liver diseaes, and neoplasms. The participants will have ample opportunity for microscopic review of material drawn form the files of the AFIP. Over 300 cases, predominantly needle biopsies, will be available for study, and AFIP staff members will be on hand to assist and answer questions.
New feature: Special break-out sessioins for gastroenterologists and hepatologists.
Note: Each partipant will be given the syllabus on CD. There will be no printed syllabus.
FOR GI: Participants will come away with a better grasp of endoscopic biopsy interpretation, clinical pathologic correlations, and up-to-date information on a variety of gastrointestinal diseases and lesions such as polyps, dysplasia, Barrett esophagus, chronic gastritis, infections, inflammatory bowel disease, lymphomas, stromal tumors, and neuroendocrine.
FOR HEPATIC:At the conclusion of this course, participants will have a better grasp of liver biopsy interpretation and experience equivalent to spending a month in the Hepatic Pathology Division of the AFIP.
This course is designed to enhance the basic understanding of disease of the eye by examing tissue changes associated with common and important ophthalmic entities. The course is organized to benefit practicing ophthalmologists, residents-in-training for ophthalmology and surgical pathology, practicing neuropathologists and practicing surgical pathologists.
This five-day course will emphasize `Pathologic Processes of Ocular Disease` during the first three days of the five day course and will emphasize `Oncology in Ophthalmology` in the last two days of the course.
All lectures are given by experienced and active experts in their respective fields. The lectures are richly illustrated with clinical photographs, imaging studies, light microscopy (including immunohistopathology), ultrastructure and molecular biological features of clinical significance.
NOTE: Each participant will be given the syllabus on CD. There will be no printed Syllabus. The syllabus will also be available on www.askafip.org.
By attending this course, attendees will gain enhanced knowledge of:
- The pathology of common ocular diseases.
- Basis concepts and factual data concerning the pathologic anatomy of the eye and ocular adnexa.
- Basic histopathologic, histochemical, immunohistochemical, and ultrastructural features of ophthalmic disorders.

The primary objective of the symposium is to provide a comprehensive pediatric board review, which will prepare you for board certifcation or re-certifcation. The quality and breadth of the symposium is also attractive for individuals needing a comprehensive update of basic pediatric clinical information. Unique features of the symposium include the use of an audience response system, which allows the attendee to gauge their knowledge base and become familiar with board-type questions while attending the symposium. This format also allows the lecturer to introduce topics in a question-and-answer format and to stress board examination-relevant information. In addition, there are specialty-specifc board simulation sessions, during which board-relevant questions/answers and rationale will be discussed. Finally, all attendees will receive, as part of their syllabus material, the new 3rd edition of the 594-page textbook, The Cleveland Clinic Intensive Review of Pediatrics. This textbook is based on this symposium, and it is the frst comprehensive textbook to specifcally focus on pediatric board review certifcation and re-certifcation.
The 2nd Oil & Gas
