International commercial arbitration in the Asia-Pacific region is riddled with complex
challenges. How does one reconcile the parties’ competing and conflicting views on
discovery and evidence? How does one navigate an arbitral proceeding involving multiple
parties from a myriad of jurisdictions? How do you level the playing field when the
opposing party is a state entity? The global economic crisis looms large over all these
questions and is giving rise to an increasing number of high-stakes disputes throughout the
region. Join scholars, practitioners and corporate counsel from both sides of the Pacific for a
lively discussion of these developments and the issues currently unfolding in the international
commercial arbitration community.

The continued improvements in our ability to synthesize and fabricate nanostructures over the past decades have fueled tremendous growth in the area of nanoscience and nanoengineering. A variety of well developed ‘top-down’ and ‘bottom-up/self-assembly’ techniques are now available to the researcher to create a wide range of nanoscale materials, with often unique and technologically appealing properties. In many cases, practical applications of nanostructures require the ability to pattern nanoscale electrical contacts and interconnects. Low resistance Ohmic contacts and low RC interconnect delay, for example, are essential for optimum performance of traditional (Si based) nanocircuits. Similar requirements hold true for optoelectronics, energy scavenging, or chem/bio sensor devices based on emerging nanomaterials, such as graphene, carbon nanotubes, and nanowires. Schottky or rectifying contacts form the basis for a range of rf detector/mixer and high current rectifier devices. As device dimensions shrink below 45 nm, and as new materials with novel composition and geometry are explored for `next generation` s applications, the underlying physics of contact and interconnect formation and carrier transport needs to be re-examined. Single wall carbon nanotubes, for example, have a quasi-one-dimensional density of states and a relatively inert surface which results in less Fermi level pinning and a strong dependence of the contact barrier height on the metal workfunction. In addition, to assess the new properties of nanocontacts, a detailed experimental determination of structural and electronic properties of these interfaces is needed, which is often complicated by the buried nature of these interfaces. This workshop will address both theoretical and experimental approaches to understanding formation, carrier transport, reliability, and applications of metal/semiconductor nanocontacts and nanointerconnects.
Specific topics include: contact formation and transport at metal contacts to nanotubes, nanowires, graphene, quantum dots, and other nanomaterials; microstructure and morphology of nanointerfaces; reliability and stability of nanointerconnects and nanocontacts; applications of interconnects and nanocontacts in electronics, photonics, sensors, and energy scavenging; novel and established characterization methods applied to nanocontacts; theory and modeling of contact formation and transport at nanointerfaces; integration issues for practical interconnect and contact/metallization schemes for large arrays of nanostructures.

Master the fundamentals of pricing for government payor programs
Finding expert information on government pricing can often prove
more difficult than pricing itself. To fill this void, ACI has created Rx Drug Pricing Boot Camp.
Now in its fourth year, this program provides drug manufacturers, PBMs,
plans, and pharmacies with the critical information they need to
effectively and efficiently manage government pricing. ACI’s Boot Camp
is the training program you need to ensure that your pricing group and
other related departments are well-versed in critical pricing concepts
and methodologies. No other conference breaks down the fundamentals of
prescription drug pricing in such an easy-to-understand and
comprehensive format.
With health care reform a top priority for the new administration,
it is more important than ever to have a strong grasp of pricing
fundamentals so you can understand how proposed changes will affect
your daily operations and overall pricing strategy. This comprehensive

Obesity has become a global epidemic, which has reached frightening proportions. As a consequence, diabetes, hypertension and lipid disorders are progressively accelerating. We are now witnessing a reversal in the decline of cardiovascular disease that has been observed in the 20th Century.
Numerous researchers and scientists notably, Dr. Gerald Reaven professor of Medicine, Stanford, CA have shown that these metabolic abnormalities specifically diabetes and cardiovascular consequences are mediated by insulin resistance. The relationship between insulin resistance, obesity, dyslipidemia and hypertension was initially introduced by Dr.Reaven in 1988 as Syndrome X, now referred to as the insulin resistance, metabolic or cardio-metabolic syndrome
Multiple definitions of the Syndrome have evolved addressing the obesity epidemic, insulin resistance and their contribution to the development of CVD, diabetes, PCOS, liver disease, cancer and sleep disorders. It is also proposed complications of insulin resistance are driven by the accompanying hyperinsulinemia.
In recent years, we have become aware of the contribution of other systems to energy metabolism notably, incretins, gut hormones and bile acids. Of particular interest is the complicated relationship of the brain, the gut, fat cell and its metabolites, insulin, leptin and their respective resistance states.
The World Congress on Insulin Resistance (WCIR) has become a very important platform where the interaction of these multiple metabolic systems and their relation ship to insulin resistance are evaluated in a clinical, multi disciplinary environment. The congress has become a home to clinical and basic scientists, researchers and practicing clinicians. The highly distinguished expert faculty and the bedside to bench approach have created a state-of-the-art platform. The faculty promotes new understanding of metabolic diseases, facilitates the development of future therapeutic modalities and has been the cornerstone of the success of the congress.
This unique and exciting program has allowed the participants to personally interact with the worlds eminent leaders in insulin resistance, fat cell metabolism, the brain, incretin and gut hormones. Indeed, the program highlights tomorrows clinical science today.
