Hotel Dubrovnik Palace, hotel in Dubrovnik

Located in the Lapad Peninsula, Hotel Dubrovnik Palace offers a beach and a scuba diving center.

I loved EVERYTHING about this hotel. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. In addition, there is a bus that goes to Dubrovnik’s old town that stops directly in front of the hotel, which is super convenient (it’s the 4 bus). I really like that you can get breakfast as early as 6 am because this gives you enough time to eat in case you have an early tour. The breakfast buffet has a variety of options, too. The rooms have a great view of the sea, and they’re pristine and spacious. I would definitely stay here again!

The Pearl of the Adriatic

A medieval beauty full of magnificence and glory, Dubrovnik is surrounded by white stone walls. Located on the Adriatic coast of Croatia, this masterpiece is one of the most promising tourist destinations.

Passing through the imposing stone gate of Pile Gate, you will find yourself immersed in history. Take a walk in the narrow streets of this charming city, enjoy a cup of coffee in one of the colorful cafés, or order fresh fish in one of the outdoor restaurants.

Surrounded by turquoise waters, Dubrovnik Old Town sights include the picturesque Stradun, Onofrio fountain and the Franciscan monastery.

The city’s cable car will take you up to Mount Srd from where you can savor panoramic views over the treasures of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We have been visiting Dubrovnik for nearly 40 years so we have seen it before and after the war. The city and surroundings remain beautiful and I would recommend a once-only visit to anybody. However, and very suddenly, prices have shot up. It costs £30 per person to walk around the walls, or you can buy a city-pass for the same amount which gives access to other attractions as well. The last time we visited in 2012 a walk around the walls was completely free. Meals are expensive too, and all the restaurants seem to be charging the same. You'll inevitably pay £50 per couple for a modest meal and a couple of drinks. However, food in supermarkets is cheap, so the tourists are paying a premium. If you hire a car you can get to Mostar or Montenegro, which are fabulous, and much cheaper. A similar meal in Mostar would be £20. However, Dubrovnik is a fabulous place and well worth a visit.

I would recommend taking the bus instead of an Uber or taxi if available. I asked the host, but that was not presented to me as an option and I took Uber. One less car trip would be my choice for the environment.

It is very interesting place, very well maintained. The old town is rather small and unless you want to visit all museums, you do not need more than a weekend. Walk on the city walls is a must, as well just walling about the town. Be aware that it is not a cheap place to go out and if you plan to rent a car, parking maybe very expensive

Like stepping back in time re the old town and it looked fully restored after the war in the 90's. The town is steep with many, many steps so may not be suitable if you have mobility issues. Wine was much more expensive than I expected for a wine producing nation. Food was good wherever we went.

Best part of this hotel is the awesome breakfast options, I have seldom seen so much breakfast options as they have. The view overlooking the sea is beautiful, especially at sunset. Most (if not all) of the rooms have a seaside view with a balcony. We were really lucky to receive a last minute upgrade when checking in and our room was fabulous. The staff were so friendly and always greeted us with a smile. Such a lovely hotel to spend our last few days in Dubrovnik and there is also a bus that leaves directly outside the hotel that takes you into the Dubrovnik old town (this is free if you buy the Dubrovnik pass). .

There is a very scenic promenade that runs along the short for a kilometre in either direction from the rear entrance to the hotel. Very regular buses to Dubrovnik Old Town just a kilometre from the hotel entrance, with a great range of eating places in between. Dubrovnik itself is a marvellous location.
