Nicosia's old town is fascinating and safe to walk around day and night.
Nicosia also has an excellent cheap bus service.
Locals are friendly and helpful if you need directions. Many Cypriots speak English.
And of course the Greek Cypriot food is delicious and reasonably priced.

Besides, almost always great weather, very nice people, and delicious food, 1 - to 2 days in Nicosia is enough to walk around and check out the sightseeing. I recommend passing through the border to the Turkish side and shopping a bit in the Turkish Bazar (the ladies will like POSH Handbags & Shoes shop) and eating at the local restaurants. Have a Turkish coffee.

Nicosia is a very unique and historic City.
Nicosia is a very unique and historic City. Famously it is still a divided city and it is possible to visit Northern Nicosia which is under Turkish Occupation since the 1970s.
There are many very interesting and fairly unique sites to visit on both sides of the border.
Nicosia is both a very modern city and has also a very old and picturesque sector. The fact that it has a patrolled border, the Green Line, running through it makes it a very memorable experience.
There are many restaurants and tavernas of variable quality in the town. Sadly there are way too many fast food outlets, but there are also some traditional tavernas serving fresh local delicacies.
However my main criticism would be, as a vegan, I found it very difficult to find places that catered for me.

The southern city center is very small--you can easily walk from end to end multiple times in a day of sightseeing--but it is a pleasant mix of developed tourist streets, colorful quaint residential streets, abandoned buildings and weird more or less closed shops with display windows full of junk. The center is worth a day. A second day is best spent on the Turkish side or in nature at the city outskirts.

I loved and always visit Nicosia both myself and my wife visited 2 or 3 times per year I love the weather and the kind people , lots of attraction and lots of restaurants with fine food , fantastic place especially in December time , Nicola is easy to move around
We were given a superb room, very spacious and comfortable overlooking the pool area. We found the staff friendly, and we were given a warm welcome on arrival. The swimming pool is a delight and the food served by the pool was of a high standard. The breakfast menu was good, with a range of dishes available. The hotel is in an excellent location, and within easy walking distance of the old town area. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel if you wish to stay in the centre of Nicosia.
The whole experience was excellent! The location was very central and convenient, the staff was great and very pleasant, friendly and helpful, the room was state of the art and very comfortable and the breakfast was superb! All the restaurant staff was also very friendly and willing to please. Overall MAP hotel is one of the best places we have stayed, with great value for money and very comfortable. We strongly recommend it for a business or pleasurer trip to Cyprus.
The rooms appeared to be tidy, though it was a little messy.
We booked very last minute because booking.com said our first choice was not available (it then booked the first hotel which left us in a strange situation).
The man on the end of the phone was available to guide us in, so at least they were available, he sent a text message with information on how to get into the flat.
The rooms are bright, clean and very nicely decorated. The hotel is small and cute. The staff is very kind and helpful. There is a cute bar at the top floor, where we had excellent breakfast.
The area is good, not very central and a car is definitely needed, but then that’s the case for every place in Cyprus!
Definitely coming back!
Modern, well equipped and very clean apartment in the heart of Nicosia, situated on the most beautiful street from the business center. Shopping centers, restaurants all around, with parking places nearby. The communication with the host was excellent. Thanks George for a lovely stay.
I had a wonderful stay at this studio close to Nicosia. The host was incredibly welcoming and made me feel right at home. The location is perfect for guests of the Cyprus Institute, with easy access to the airport shuttle, shops, and public transportation to the city centre.
the hotel is few minutes walk from.the turkish side, near many shops and restaurants.
breakfast was o.k but the variety was small
staff were very friendly, especially the woman that was in the reception on the afternoon-night shift that tried to do her best to solve problems
Hotel is extremelly well located, in the main walking area of Nicosia city center. Clean, nicely designed, spacious rooms. Breakfast is always included (no room rate without) - and completely worth it, as it's incredible. Definitely recommending this hotel.
The bedroom was on the small size but perfectly OK for a short stay, the hotel was very clean and the breakfast food and service was good. Location was excellent close to the bus station and main shopping area and crossing points to North Cyprus
The hotel was in a quiet street in the old town & very close to Ledra St & the border crossing with Turkish Cyprus. It was also walking distance from the Intercity Bus station. The owner was friendly & helpful
Classic HILTON hotel. Friendly staff, quite & clean room, a number of facilities on premises, nice breakfast with a huge variety. Definitely recommended (a little bit expensive for Cyprus but it is a Hilton).
Please note that Asty Hotel is a 2* / 3* hotel and as such the evaluation were made accordingly. However, regardless of the category, the experience at Asty was amazing!! Thank you very much for all!!
Very nice and clean and modern hotel. The room was very comfortable and clean, excellent breakfast. Very polite, friendly and helpful staff. I highly recommend this hotel everything was excellent!
The Hotel was excellent, exactly what we needed. It was only a very short stay but as we travel to Cyprus on a regular basis for work and are here sometimes for a week at a time.
Comfy bed with normal blanket cover instead of a one-sided cover typical for hotels
Awesome terrace (sunlight in the morning and shade the rest of the day)
