The trolly tour was fantastic and Rob gave us several tips.
The trolly tour was fantastic and Rob gave us several tips. Enjoyed visiting the Breaker Mansion, the cliff walk, Easton Beach. Celebrated our Anniversary dinner at the White Horse Tavern and had an amazing meal! Lots of shops and food places on Thames St near where we stayed at the Harborside Inn. Some places are hard to park so better to walk if possible. Overall great 3 day visit to Newport!

The cutest small town any time of year.
The cutest small town any time of year. I've been in the summer when people fill the beaches and streets, and I've been in the winter when the buildings are decorated with lights and everyone hangs ornaments on a Christmas tree on the beach. Lots of places to walk and explore both along the water and inland, many historical and beautiful buildings to tour, vineyards and beaches to spend your time, and wonderful places to stay.

We loved it all, but especially the Red Parrot and Moorings where we had great food. Ma's Donuts on the outskirts of the town was excellent too, if no good for the waistline. Travel in town is easy out of season. We walked a lot and when driving easily found parking for free.

Unfortunately, I reached the hotel on night of September 23rd whereas my booking Thro Booking.com was from September 24th
The hotel charged almost USD 1000 for one night, which I felt was terrible
Hotel was not full and charging more than double than per night rate of Booking.com left us with bad experience

Wonderful place to visit.
Wonderful place to visit.
When we bought the tickets to tour the mansion "The Breakers" we were told that we could upgrade our tickets to include more mansions when finished. For us, 1 mansion tour was sufficient, so I'm happy we didn't purchase a multi-tour upfront.
The Cliff Walk was a little more difficult than I had read in some reviews. We did the entire 3.5 miles & there were multiple spots of rocky terrain, not just one as I was expecting. However, it was worth it!
We timed the ocean drive for sunset & the views were gorgeous. There were multiple spots to stop to enjoy the view even more.
We got around Newport mostly by walking, it is do-able but many roads have no sidewalks, so if you need an even terrain, I wouldn't attempt walking everywhere.
The staff are so welcoming and friendly. A perfect location in Newport if you want to be in the heart of all the activities and access to everything fun. The room was large over the harbor and soundproof as lots noise at this time of year. Very comfortable everything I needed was there. I love the restaurant for drinks, food and breakfast. The salt water pool inside the hotel was so refreshing on a hot day too. I think the rooms were a bit pricey though as this is a good hotel but not a luxurious high end hotel.
You can't beat the location - a quiet, charming residential street just 1 block from the main street. Very quiet and you hardly knew anyone else was staying there. It was almost like having a private house to yourself. Everything recently renovated incl. the bathrooms. Well-decorated and very comfy beds. Linens and towels were very nice and above standard hotel grade. Lovely living room/lounge if you needed extra space. Staff returned messages promptly.
Quirky hotel, small but great location for walking into and around Newport. Rooms quite large, comfortable and individual. Clean and super comfy beds. Friendly accommodating staff. Really nice self service breakfast which was perfect to set you up for a day of sight seeing. Freely available tea/coffee/fresh fruit and cookies in the afternoon was a nice touch. As we were travelling with a hire car it was great to find somewhere with parking that was so central.
The location of this hotel is its best asset. The room was disappointing it was in rough condition, For example the bathroom drain stopper was stuck closed so water couldn't drain. The toilet paper holder was falling of the wall, the shower door wouldn't close without lifting up on it. overall the hotel is in rough condition. This is why I would not call the Viking a 4 Star hotel..
I liked that we had a full apartment for less than what any motel/hotel room would have cost us in Newport. It had all of the conveniences of home. The location was great, near the waterfront and plenty of shops and restaurants were within walking distance. Breakfast was provided in the morning. Brian gave us some great ideas of things to do while in town.
Everything! The location is perfect for walking to harbor or walking along Bellevue to look at Mansions. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Facilities were excellent too, comfortable bed, great shower and breakfast included! Would highly recommend as an alternative to ridiculously high hotel prices in and around Newport. Will definitely return!
Cute old school charming hotel. Rooms were a little dated but charming in the New England way. the location could not be better and the price was amazing (also included nice breakfast spread). If you are there to explore Newport there is no better place. Stay somewhere else if you want resort feeling and seclusion from
town activities.
The Beverage Manager was the loveliest lady we have ever encountered at any hotel EVER... The roof top bar is great but the bartender in the main dining is a very fine mixologist. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the location makes it the best spot in Newport...
Not even one plastic cup in the room!
No lights at night so we passed it. On a Friday for $258 it was a total rip-off! Never again. Although Newport hotels seemed outrageously expensive!!
The Nautical design of the hotel and rooms is perfect for Newport. The location of the hotel was also good. The outside seating area / deck is great. Right on the water.
Property is located at the heart of Newport. Rooms are bit smaller but location is accessible and few minutes walk to transportation Center which is very convenient
We usually stay at a different hotel when we travel to Newport but figured we would try this one. No complaints at all. The pool was nice and the room was spacious.
Breakfast on the patio was very good. Very Good food overall.
The hotel's layout and decoration along with the excellent staff generated a good ambience.
