Unlike Cairo, Aswan is much slower paced and people are much nicer. The city has several historical sites, temples, and islands. The views and food are amazing. I’m skipping Cairo on my next trip to Egypt and coming straight to Aswan and Luxor.

A very beatiful place to relax and enjoy the sun during winter.
We felt very safe and happy.
The local market is great it has unique and authentic goods.
The philae Temple is great it has spots to take photos and great views.
We enjoyed the Botonical Garden very much as it has plants from all over the world.
The feluca ride is one of the best things we enjoyed but first you have to agree on the price.

Tombs of the Nobles were really neat if you can make it over to the other bank. Watch out for the camel guys there though. We got roped into $50 camel rides.
Aswan was probably our least favorite stop in Egypt. Harassment by salespeople was higher here than at the Great Pyramids, and much higher than Luxor! We couldn't walk anywhere at anytime of the day without a salesperson walking with us for several blocks. And as soon as they were done, someone else would take over. Its too bad, I think the corniche could be a really pretty walk!

Everyone was so friendly and helpful.
Everyone was so friendly and helpful.
I didn’t realize that the hotel was undergoing a little construction. It looked like they were upgrading their ramp. This meant we had to carry our bags up the stairs to the lobby.
The property is beautiful and has a terrific view of the town and we could see the Nile from our room. The restaurant was very good- we had dinner there.
BTW the construction noise never bothered us. We couldn’t hear it at all.

If you are doing the Initiatic path, Elephantine Island is so perfect. We stayed at Mango Tree (feel like exotic move stars) and Nubian Dreams (also a restaurant but we scored their top floor room and that is super fun) We also stayed at Nubian Palace, oh my gosh. Take a little private ferry and go to that place. Its so memorable. Philae temple was set up from our host at Nubian Palace (which we usually never do but she is a badass and handles it so you don't have to negotiate to and from the ferry marina) Stay on the west bank. Never the east. Its so loud and full of hustle. The west bank is like real Egypt. Lovely. Easy to start the temple path to Abu Simbel by hopping on a local large bus. Fun, cheap, easy. (Its a little more coming back but its all very cheap so be nice and accept the system) From here you can take a train, bus or private taxi to Kom Ombo and Edfu as you make your way to Luxor. (ALSO STAY ON THE WEST BANK in luxor) What a lovely quiet and profoundly spiritual adventure.
Mango Guest House is in an amazing location on Elephantine Island and easily accessible by local ferry. The house is beautiful, clean and staff were more than accommodating and welcoming. They were helpful with booking transportation and have drinks and food available on site. No pressure and friendly people. If you are staying in Aswan the island is the best choice to stay. It is quiet, rich in local Nubian culture and offers a number of small restaurants. 100% would recommend Mango Guest House to friends.
Staff is nice, helpful and kind.
The reception of the hotel is nice, big, modern and very confortable, you can take some drinks there while you rest and they have 10 pounds beverages very nice.
The rooms are more simple and the one I got was ok and clean. The bathroom can seem also small but comparing with other options in Aswan center, I think its a good option!
24 hours hotel, good air conditioner, nice staff, cheap beverages and you can pay with credit card! Those things are value in egypt!

This is smaller hotel is connected to the large luxury Basma hotel. We got an upgrade, so our room was really more like a small apartment with two bathrooms, kitchen, living room and garden terrace. It’s on a hill, so the views of the Nile and the city are spectacular. The staff is very friendly and professional. Communication through Booking was quick and easy. They booked our trip to Abu Simbel at 3:45 am and prepared our boxed breakfast.
Very wonderful hotel on an island with boat service 24 hours a day to and from Aswan.
The hotel have a lot of nice spots around the island with nice terraces, pools and chill out spots were you can order drinks and food from the bar.
You can have nice breakfast and dinner in the restaurant they offer open buffet with a lot of different food both international and egyptian.
We loved the staff at the reception, bar and restaurant.
Our stay at the Nub Inn made our stay in Aswan, we cannot recommend it highly enough! The staff were exceptional, everyone was so lovely and they really looked after us. The room was clean, spacious and beautiful as well as having a cracking view of the Nile. We loved the food, still thinking about the breakfasts! We did several tours all of which the hotel sorted out for us and made it super easy. We can't wait to go back
The location of the hotel is amazing. An elite hotel on the banks of the Nile. The view from our room was wonderful. It was wonderful to watch the felucas at sunset from the balcony of our room. Additionally, the food at the hotel restaurant was also extremely delicious. It is a 3 star hotel, but according to Egyptian standards, I think this hotel deserves 5 stars. I would recommend it to everyone.
Excellent hotel with excellent location♥️
located at the village center, extremely clean & comfortable . Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff,
Would definetely recommend this hotel to everybody!
thank you for every thing I’m very happy in my stay at Kato Waidi hotel ,every thing was excellent if i come back to Aswan kato Waidi will be my first choise .
Such amazing staff. I was rebooked in a nearby hotel (just on the next building) due to overbooking because of a technical glitch, but the staff, esp Mr. Ahmed, made sure we have no further inconveniences and provided exceptional service.
Highly recommend them for a nice and quiet stay in the Nubian village area by the Nile river, away from the busy hustle of Aswan.
Staff especially Reko is very friend and help with everything such as your or text booking but there’s always room for negotiation. The best thing about the guest house is the view, I see Nile from my window. it’s located in elephantine island which means you will need to prepare 5 Egyptian pounds each time for ferry but it runs every 3-5 min so it’s not an issue.
It was a super nice stay. The location was very beautiful. The rooms were huge. I loved the swimming pool. Horres the manager was so kind and helped us with everything from booking taxis to ordering food to booking us into the light and sound show at the temple. Thanks so much for everything! It was the best place we stayed in Egypt.
We liked this accommodation very much. It was a little far from the town but with community ferry it was fast to get to the center. The ferry only costs 10 egyptian pounds for person (0.20 €) and it's very fast. They make us breakfast boxes when we went to Abu Simbel. The view from the hotel was wonderful.
This hotel is a hidden gem of Egypt. One of the best choice I made, West bank is just great, easy to access East bank, in a nubian village in a natural surrounding. nothing to compare with the stress and rush and hassle of Aswan east bank.
Great breakfast, great service, I would stay more days.
The view of the hotel was beautiful overlooking parts of Aswan and it was close to the center so location wise it was perfect. The staff was also friendly especially Maria and Reham, both were very helpful so thanks to both of them in addition to the message therapist Nana.
hotel is a hidden gem in my opinion! staff is so friendly, perfect location, we had a perfect nile view in room 413 - perfect for sunset. will definitely return on my next visit to aswan!
The staff were very friendly, kind and helpful. The hotel and room are very simple to stay short trip in Aswan. The restaurant is at the 6th floor, so the view was so wonderful.
