  • 06-08 Dec 2010
  • Washington, DC, United States

Description

Enabling the Warfighter, Platforms, and Weapons Systems to become Lighter, Faster, and Stronger
Recent demands have presented some of the harshest challenges for military personnel. Protecting and equipping troops has never been more complex. Real life combat in Afghanistan has created new threats, increasing the need for the soldier s protection level and ultimately translating to additional, heavier equipment. Supported by millions of dollars from the DoD, the pursuit is on to discover cost effective, cutting-edge materials that will translate to lighter, faster, stronger and more durable systems.

IDGA s 10th Lightweight Materials for Defense 2010 is the premier industry forum to exchange ideas on new materials, trends, opportunities, applications and to identify current and future military needs. Now in its tenth year, this conference will focus on research, development and applications of lightweight materials to lighten the load and increase performance. Attendees will gain knowledge of the latest advancements of materials, their manufacturing, and insertion paths and plans for military systems and equipment.

10th Lightweight Materials for Defense 2010 will highlight:
  • Updates on advanced metallics, polymerics, ceramics, multifunctional materials and glass composites
  • Material research and advancement updates at the US Army Corps of Engineers
  • Initiatives in integrated computational materials science and engineering
  • US Marine Corps material needs for future combat systems
  • US Air Force nanotechnology needs for 2030
