5th International Meeting On Reconstructive Urology (IMORU V)

  • 03-05 Mar 2010
  • University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, Germany

Description

Dear Colleagues,

after a break of 4 years the tradition of the International Meeting on Reconstructive Urology will continue. I would like to invite you to Hamburg for the 5th IMORU meeting which will take place March 3-5, 2010 at Hamburg University Eppendorf Medical School. The brand new buildings for teaching and patients care offer excellent facilities with direct connection from the operating theatres to the lecture hall. As in previous years, parallel live-surgery from three operating rooms gives the opportunity to watch the experts and discuss techniques directly with them. Additional overview lectures update your knowledge. During poster sessions you will be able to present and discuss your own experiences with the experts.

Minimal invasive procedures have entered the field of reconstructive urology. One main topic will be an update on the use of the Da Vinci device and laparoscopy for reconstructive interventions like pyleoplasty, ureteral implantation and urinary diversion. However, limitations will also be discussed. Advances in urethral reconstruction, current techniques like buccal mucosa urethroplasty (dorsal inlay, ventral onlay, one-staged, two-staged) with their indications and limitations will be presented and discussed. A new field that will keep the reconstructive urologist busy in the future is complications after prostate surgery, for example incontinence, urethra-rectal fistula or anastomotic stricture after radical prostatectomy. The topic of the final session on Friday will be the interdisciplinary approach to the reconstruction of the pelvic floor (rectal surgeon, gynaecologist, urologist). The faculty consists of internationally well renowned experts and experienced surgeons. You are cordially invited to actively participate in the meeting by sending an abstract for presentation.

The Eppendorf Medical School is located within the city of Hamburg half way between the airport and city centre and can be reached by railway ( Eppendorfer Baum ). Hamburg airport also is connected to the railway system. The city centre (2 miles away from the Medical School) offers different shopping areas, restaurants, bars and nightlife (famous Reeperbahn ). You can walk or go for jogging around the Alster lake or through one of the famous parks. Or you can take a boat and get a different view of Hamburg from the harbour area. I am sure that you will not only have an interesting scientific meeting but also a great time enjoying the facilities of this international city.

Looking forward to seeing you in Hamburg in March 2010

Margit Fisch, M.D.
Professor of Urology
