Brain Injury Rehabilitation 2010

  • 26-27 Mar 2010
  • Schaetzel Center, La Jolla, CA, United States

Description

Brain injury patients will be treated by a variety of health care professionals (physicians, nurses, therapists, etc.) from the time of initial trauma and throughout the rehabilitation process. While comprehensive, multidisciplinary rehabilitation treatment provided by a diverse team of experienced professionals has proven effective in treating brain injury patients; coordination between the various health care providers is often not as integrated as necessary. Team members may not fully understand each other s role in the rehabilitation process causing communication breakdowns. More than ever, there is a need to share current research, outcomes, and perspectives across medical specialties to continue the quest for quality brain injury treatment and rehabilitation.
The 5th Annual Brain Injury Rehabilitation 2010 Conference is designed to provide a clear understanding of the need for multidisciplinary strategies in the management of patients with brain injuries. A renowned faculty of interdisciplinary specialists from nationally recognized rehabilitation centers will present the latest in research and outcomes from a variety of medical perspectives. Topics will focus on interventions and management for medical and physical rehabilitation, as well as cognitive, emotional, and social challenges common to brain injury. In addition, a keynote presentation by Lee Woodruff, wife of combat-injured journalist Bob Woodruff, will offer insight into the effects of brain injury and the rehabilitation process on family and social dynamics.
