Wheat breeders are invited to attend this annual forum where CSIRO researchers will discuss their research findings via a series of presentations and Q&A sessions.This is an annual event hosted by CSIRO Plant Industry.
Researchers will share (via a series of presentations) updates on the following subjects:
- salinity
- grain quality
- rust and root diseases
- virus resistance breeding
- yield potential
- synergies through integrating breeding & management
- the APPF (Australian Plant Phenomics Facility)
- field tools to facilitate high-throughput selection
- QTL selection and implementation tools
- germplasm gateway.
The objectives of this meeting are to:
- make wheat breeders aware of CSIRO project outputs that are ready now for evaluation and/or adoption in breeding programs
- make wheat breeders aware of CSIRO project outputs that will be ready for evaluation in breeding programs in the near future
- have dialogue around CSIRO prebreeding research objectives and priorities and their fit with those of breeding companies
- promote interaction between CSIRO scientists and breeders leading to better informal communication and formal collaboration in the future.
