EMORY Diabetes Education for All , a Program for the Arab Community 2015 is a seminar that covers topics such as:

  • Cultural issues in the Arab community which may impact the management of diabetes
  • Complications of diabetes and appropriate pharmacological treatment options
  • Diabetes pathophysiology, epidemiology and clinical guidelines consistent with a diabetes educator practice level
  • Principles of teaching, learning and behavior change to foster self-management skills among individuals with diabetes
  • Providing diabetes support and care in a culturally-competent manner across the patient’s lifespan
  • Principles of program management to systematically improve the delivery of diabetes education in their practice setting
  • The importance of an interdisciplinary diabetes care team
  • Applying the AADE7 self-care behavior framework in the delivery of diabetes education
  • Developing a process involving planning, assessment, evaluation and implementation of the patient`s diabetes education intervention
