EMORY Diabetes Education for All , a Program for the Arab Community 2015 is a seminar that covers topics such as:
- The importance of using the Arabic language in the diabetes education programs targeting the Arab community
- Cultural issues in the Arab community which may impact the management of diabetes
- Complications of diabetes and appropriate pharmacological treatment options
- Diabetes pathophysiology, epidemiology and clinical guidelines consistent with a diabetes educator practice level
- Principles of teaching, learning and behavior change to foster self-management skills among individuals with diabetes
- Providing diabetes support and care in a culturally-competent manner across the patient’s lifespan
- Principles of program management to systematically improve the delivery of diabetes education in their practice setting
- The importance of an interdisciplinary diabetes care team
- Applying the AADE7 self-care behavior framework in the delivery of diabetes education
- Developing a process involving planning, assessment, evaluation and implementation of the patient`s diabetes education intervention
EMORY Diabetes Education for All , a Program for the Arab Community 2015 brings together professionals who are part of a health care team (fluent in Arabic), including nurse practitioners, physicians, nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, dietitians, social workers and others involved in the education and management of individuals with diabetes.
