Technologies in fleet management continue to evolve and in today`s world, the uses of cutting edge technologies are enhancing the work of personnel making use of fleet management systems.

Without the use of these technologies, tracking the location of all vehicles would become a daunting task and less manageable.

The proliferation of technology for instance enables fleet managers to have detailed reports on behaviour of both driver and vehicle, cut down on costs on a day-to day operations, while modern electronic fleet management systems offer accurate, real- time information on vehicle location.

According to the 2009 Frost & Sullivan fleet report, fleet managers will seek out more benefits and attributes from advanced technologies to enable them reduce operating expenses while improving driver and vehicle productivity.

The Frost and Sullivan report further went on to state that: forty seven percent of fleet companies own some type of communication technology with 13% using location and tracking technologies.
