| There is enormous potential for technological innovation in gastroenterology. While recent advances in minimally invasive surgery and endoscopic procedures have made inroads to enhanced patient care, there are still many unmet needs to be addressed. The GI tract could also hold the key to future therapies for widespread chronic conditions, such as diabetes and obesity. This conference will bring together inventors, medical device companies and investors to explore lessons learned from failed but promising GI technologies that did not achieve favorable coverage or reimbursement, identify future opportunities, address what can be done to overcome the barriers to transitioning new concepts into clinical practice, and encourage investment in future technologies. Conference participants will each play an important role in helping to support and ultimately stimulate innovation that will advance the field of GI and improve patient outcomes |
