Description

International conference in Australia seeks ways to avoid Worldwide epidemic of Mental illness
How to avoid an epidemic of mental illness and other brain disorders that experts warn will be the world`s largest single health problem within a decade is a focus of an International conference in Australia later this year.

This follows a conference in London last month where researchers who were described as the world`s foremost authorities in neuroscience and nutrition warned of "unthinkable health, social and fiscal consequences" unless there is increased consumption of DHA, an Omega-3 oil found most abundantly in seafood.

It is important to understand that this is not a fisheries conference, it is a health conference, but one where the participants all share a common interest and will communicate information about the very latest medical research into all health aspects of the benefits of seafood. New discoveries and a deeper understanding of the health benefits of seafood are occurring at a rapid rate and this conference will highlight the very latest information available. In today`s world you cannot talk `seafood` without discussions on the environmental aspects so this will be an important stream of the Conference. Prevention is far better (and cheaper) than curing so we will also look at the best ways to apply this knowledge to improve the health of everyone from the unborn to those facing problems of old age. Communication strategies, including educational concepts, will be an important stream at the Conference as moving the science and research through the chain to the public is something that must be achieved. The aim is to bring solutions!

It is anticipated that we will attract up to 1,000 participants made up of the world`s leading health researchers, environmental researchers, medical practitioners, nutrition educators and policy-makers, probably some 50 or more countries will be represented, from the Americas and Europe to Asia and the South Pacific. We will also feature experts such as Professor Michael Crawford, Founder and Director of The Institute of Brain Chemistry and Human Nutrition, London, the Conference Patron, as well as others from institutions such as the UN Food and Agriculture others. Australian researchers in the field will not be forgotten as in many ways Australian enable our people to promote the excellent work that has been occurring in Universities and research establishments in Australia. It is planned to connect and promote to the public so expect to see lots of activities from seafood promotions at restaurants through to Master-classes, etc.

The conference will be supported by a Trade display of industry, scientific and health/environment exhibitors to ensure the attendees leave with the very latest knowledge in all these important areas.
