This interactive two day course focuses on the essential science and approaches required for successful small molecule drug discovery. It describes how today’s Biology, Medicinal Chemistry, ADMET and Informatics are systematically deployed in the context of drug discovery.
The science, on-the-ground organisation and expertise required to progress from a blank sheet of paper to selection of a compound for clinical trials are outlined step-by-step, including:
• selection of the protein target of the drug • generation and evaluation of high quality lead series compounds • selection of a clinical candidate compound worthy of progression to the clinic
