Software Estimation and Software Measurement 2010

Capers Jones designed the first automated software estimation tool for IBM in 1973. He is also the founder and former Chairman of Software Productivity Research, which builds leading-edge software estimation tools. He has designed three successful commercial software estimation tools and five proprietary tools for specific clients.
The talk will discuss a number of estimation and sizing tools such as COCOMO II, KnowlegePlan, SLIM, SEER, Function Point Analyzer, Early & Quick which is widely used in Italy, and many others. Several experimental methods will be discussed such as micro function points for small changes to applications and a new method of sizing by means of pattern matching.
In order to estimate well it is necessary to measure well. His seminar will discuss the kinds of data that should be collected as well as discussing both manual and automated software estimation methods.
