The Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association (APOA) is an organisation of orthopaedic surgeons mainly from the Asia-Pacific region. It was founded as the Western Pacific Orthopaedic Association in 1962 by seven orthopaedic surgeons, meeting in Manila, Members come from some forty countries from around the world, but mainly from the seventeen Member Chapters. These are Australia, Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam Turkey and Sri Lanka. The name was changed to the Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association on the 9th of April 2000, at a Special Council Meeting in Australia.
