Come out for a day of education, information and empowerment, as "Walking Into A New Life" is working in the community to bring about awareness to domestic
violence. This insightful event will take place on October 15, 2010 at the Church Health Center, Memphis, TN 38104 from 10:00 to 1:00pm. It is free and open to the public. Door prizes will be given away and refreshments will be served.
In 2009, there were 5,315 reported cases of domestic violence in Shelby Co, TN, a 33% increase from 2008. Again, these are only the documented cases. Oftentimes, many are fearful of coming forward, for one reason or another. It is our responsibility to bring about awareness and support and to create tangible solutions to this epidemic. Be prepared to take part in an interactive, comprehensive event filled with workshops, vendors and dynamic words from men and women who represent strength, resiliency and courage. This conference is designed with our victims, survivors and those in transition in mind, therefore, it is imperative that various organizations support this effort and bring those individuals who want and need to attend. WE NEED EVERYONE`S PARTICIPATION. This is not a race, gender or social status issue. It is a community issue.
