Westminster Education Forum Keynote Seminar: The future for the Early Years Foundation Stage and Primary Curriculum 2011

This timely seminar will bring together key stakeholders to discuss the future of early years education, the curriculum and pupil assessment in primary schools - as all three areas come under review by Government.

Policy makers, education professionals and other interested parties will consider next steps for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), including the minimum standards for children`s development by age 5, the role of regulation and assessment, and the content included in the EYFS. Participants will also discuss the future shape of the primary curriculum as the Government consults key stakeholders on its make-up, as well as the transition from early years to primary, concepts of cross-curricular teaching and the core aims of primary education. The role of assessment in Key Stages 1 and 2 will also be examined, with particular consideration given to the relationship between the curriculum and SATs.
