Description
This 3-day introductory course is designed for engineers, geologists, petrophysicsts, and others who wish to have a better understanding of the methods and equipment used in modern directional drilling and surveying. The course will focus on the planning and simulated drilling of a highly deviated wellpath, including landing a medium radius horizontal section to a tight TVD tolerance. Lectures will also cover the main elements of borehole surveying and understanding well path uncertainty and how it affects well placement. Examples and case studies from a number of countries are presented. IMPORTANT NOTE - participants are required to bring a laptop computer to the course. All materials will be provided electronically at the course, including a copy of the simulation software used throughout the training.
