FAQs about hotels in Osaka

A Stronghold of Japanese Culture

At the meeting point of river and sea, huge Osaka combines forward-thinking development and sure-footed tradition. This is symbolised in its temple-like, 16th century castle, guarded by ramparts and enlivened by vibrant spring cherry blossom. Dominating the surrounding skyline is Osaka Business Park, a reminder of the city’s strong role in the Japanese economy.

However, the most striking skyscraper is the Umeda Sky Building - 2 towers connected by a rooftop terrace offering far-reaching views. The nearby Osaka and Umeda train stations are linked by underground shopping centres, while the shops of Shinsaibashi’s America Village appeal to a younger crowd. Dōtonbori’s neon lights promote more shops, as well as restaurants considered the best in Osaka. In a city touted as Japan’s culinary capital, that’s quite an accolade.

The Tsūtenkaku tower overlooks Tennōji Park, home of the Osaka Municipal Museum of Art. Another nearby park houses Shitennō-ji, one of Japan’s oldest Buddhist temples.

The Kyocera Dome Osaka is a shrine of baseball, and more thrills are at waterfront Universal Studios Japan, the country’s 2nd largest theme park. Also by the sea is Kansai International Airport, on its own artificial island.

The capsule hotel was invented in Osaka, and alongside this type of accommodation, Booking.com also offers luxury hotels with pools, cheap hostels and traditional ryokans.

loved loved loved Osaka. The food was amazing.

loved loved loved Osaka. The food was amazing. Things we tried Takoyaki, Kushikatsu, Okonomiyaki, Ramen and the cakes. We loved all the different flavours. If you want to try different food all in one place, visit Kuromon Market. The Kobe beef is to die for, 1 skewer was approximately Kobe $15 or Wagyu $8 AUD. Our favourite Ramen place was Ippuo which was just across the street from our hotel. Namba was fantastic area to stay in. We did a few day trips so the location of Namba Station to our hotel was great. We used the Metro Line nearly everyday. We didn't buy any of the travel cards (just tickets) as we were there only 8days. The lines and stairs are unavoidable. The stairs are a killer, however the lines move quickly so don't be put off.

It’s very different from Tokyo, Narita area.

It’s very different from Tokyo, Narita area. They have become more westernized. Especially when it comes to their nigiri. They add so much sauce and extras. Not like the traditional nigiri style. It was extremely cold, like depressing, can’t do anything weather. I barely noticed the sun out all of the 5 days I was there.

Osaka City is an absolute treasure trove of warmth and wonder! From its bustling streets to its rich cultural heritage, every corner of this vibrant city is brimming with charm and excitement. Whether you're indulging in mouthwatering street food at Dotonbori, marveling at the iconic Osaka Castle, or immersing yourself in the lively atmosphere of Namba, there's never a dull moment in Osaka. But beyond its famous attractions, it's the warmth and hospitality of the locals that truly make Osaka special. Everywhere you go, you're greeted with smiles and kindness, making you feel right at home in this bustling metropolis. With its unique blend of tradition and modernity, Osaka City stole my heart, leaving me with cherished memories and a longing to return again and again.

Either a day with overnight stay, or a day trip from Kyoto...

Either a day with overnight stay, or a day trip from Kyoto would have been sufficient. Compared to rest of country, the city was so-so, but what's truly impressive is how much of the city is in the underground at several of the train stations. At the Osaka, and Usaka-Umeda train stations, the underground walking area is a city of its own. Its extensive! Its nothing short of a spacious, glamorous, labyrinth. Boggles the mind to imagine the planning and execution that went into is marvel. Its extensive! Overall Osaka is very end-to-end built-up city; its business-like.

I have to be honest, I didn't enjoy Osaka as much as I enjoyed Tokyo, Kyoto & Hiroshima. It can be very crowded in the popular areas, noisy, perhaps more suited for younger people! If you love shopping, eating and crowds, then you'll love Osaka! I'm glad I've been there but I've got no desire to return.

Dotonbori hotel is perfect place to stay you want to access Osaka places, it is also close to Osaka namba station which makes it really good spot if you are heading from KIX airport. Services are amazing and you get free Sake and cup of noodles from 4PM to 9 PM which makes it perfect for chill and relax. You have few amenities such as 7 eleven, Lawson close by so if want to grab anything additional then you are walakable distance. I would recommend this place for any one who wants to stay nearby

We loved the location and the room so much. It is right beside Shin-Osaka station which is a huge station. It has many retail shops and restaurants it looks like a mall already. Lol. We love the room so much. It is huge which isn’t the usual in Japan. It is very clean and the elevator is fast. Super love the interior of the room. It felt like home. It is an unmanned hotel/apartment which is amazing. Despite that, the host is very responsive via booking chat.

This hotel is in an incredible location in Osaka as far as ready access to trains, local shopping, convenience stores and restaurants. It's super affordable if you're staying there during the week. Checking in and out is easy even if you're not great with Japanese. Compared to the other capsule hotel I've been to this one is nice because you get some personal space. A small area to lay out your things, eat and relax by yourself between activities.

Hotel Noum Osaka is in a lovely spot on the river. It's in a peaceful area particularly for such a busy town. It's got good access to a couple of train lines and if you have the energy you can even walk to the busier parts of Osaka from here. It's also very close to Osaka Castle. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Their English is some of the best we came across in Japan and they're ready to help with anything you might need.

Breakfast was very basic Japanese. Not enough variety. Location very good. Close to train / metro stations & plenty of bars & restaurants. Further to my first review , we did not stay there again . Two reasons. Firstly , the mid-week rate is quite a bit higher than the weekend & we found an APA Hotel that represented better value. Secondly, the route we chose to return from Hakuba terminated at Osaka station ( not Osaka Namba ) .

Very attentive and helpful staff, grand hotel atmosphere, old-fashioned in a good way. The quietest night sleep i ever had in a japanese hotel, no trains, no busy street, good noise insulation. Comfortable beds and especially pillows which are often too hard for me in Japan. Distance to the Osaka Loop Line is actually pretty short, Sakuranomiya station has just two tracks, no wandering around inside the station.

Super convenient compact hotel. It has really nice modern Japanese style design. The room itself is quite small - pay attention to the description while booking. The hotel is located strategically near major train stations (Osaka-Namba, Namba, Nippombashi) so it was a short walk to wherever we want to go, like Dotonbori and the malls. This was a great hotel to stay at in Osaka. The staff were incredible and helped at every opportunity to ensure the best stay possible. Would highly recommend this hotel to friends and family going to Osaka, Japan. Looking forward to staying here on our next visit to Japan.

property was very spacious compared to the other hotels I stayed in Kyoto and Tokyo. The hotel seemed very luxurious and it was right outside namba station and only 8-9 minutes away from Dotonbori. would definitely recommend staying here while you are visiting Osaka

I took my granddaughter to Japan as a graduation present. We stayed at the Cross Hotel in Osaka. The hotel was lovely. The staff were extremely kind and helpful. The breakfast buffet was very good. We were very pleased and would stay there again.

Cross between Airbnb and hotel. No reception staff, but room was quite large, included a sink with stove for kitchen area, large fridge and microwave. Short walk to Osaka/umeda stations, less than 10 minutes.
