Bus rides and train rides are awesome, just get yourself a Snapper card and more than one person can travel with that one card. Only one person can travel on that card on trains. Travelling in bus was also good, no hassle to driving or parking, bus service are almost everywhere till late nights and safe environments.

We thought Wellington was a beautiful City.
We thought Wellington was a beautiful City. We were there in late March. The weather was lovely and cool, just the right temperature if you like to explore a new location on foot. The bus system in the City is brilliant. The Metlink public transport card system can be a little intimidating but once you master it, it works exceptionally well. Otherwise, you can pay cash when travelling on the buses or trains, but it is quite significantly more expensive to pay this way. Also, it pays to check out the fare before you travel and have the correct money when getting on because nearly everyone uses the prepaid Metlink card so the driver has limited change. The seafood in New Zealand is the best in the world in my opinion. If you are staying centrally and have cooking facilities, I would recommend the Seafood Market in Lambton Quay or Cuba Street. It is not a huge shop but the fish comes in daily. Their fish and chips are pretty good as well. But there are plenty of seafood restaurants around that serve great food. Wellington is a a gorgeous city and reminded me very much of San Francisco.

Visited Te Papa Museum, Wellington Museum, Botanic Gardens...
Visited Te Papa Museum, Wellington Museum, Botanic Gardens and Portrait Gallery, all free access and excellent. Also took Cable Car (as you do) but the walk to and from Botanic Gardens is relatively easy as well. Went to Te Papa Museum and spent the entire day there - excellent. Ate at the Crab Shack and had the best meal in our entire NZ 2 week holiday - unfortunately, it was closed for 2 out of the 3 days we were in Wellington or we would have been back.

Queen's Wharf has lots of museums/shopping/restaurants and is worth a few trips. Weta Workshop is a fun activity to do. Wellington Hurricanes rugby is fun if they have a home game. It's pretty easy to navigate the CBD. Zealandia is a fun day trip. The Te Papa museum is worth a couple of visits. One of the best museums I have seen.

We stayed on the back end of a family visit in Central North Island as an opportunity to rekindle some memories of Wellington from earlier years. The Botanical gardens, Cable Car journey, Te Papa museum. Shopping, and restaurants were all great. The metro bus service is great for seniors on the "Gold Card" was magic, especially for airport transfers - free from 0900 to 1500hrs.
Excellent facilities. All machines including dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer looked brand new and squeaky clean. The bed is super wide and comfortable. Tasty tea and cookies within the room.
Staff were very helpful with text message and direct phone call available. Parking map and detailed parking instructions were provided.
Central location in Wellington CBD, has supermarket and pharmacy downstairs. The cable car is also right next to the hotel.
Located in the heart of Cuba Street, this hotel is stylish, comfortable, and different from any other commercial hotel in this part of the city. The interior design is fantastic and every detail has been delicately curated. The room, although small, exceeds expectations as everything was arranged in a way that it doesn't feel crowded and the bed is one of the most comfortable ones I've stayed in. For this part of town, I highly recommend staying at Naumi.
Luxurious looking rooms with a central location in Wellington. The long entryway in the room is a great concept more hotel need to employ as it cuts you off from some of the hallway noise, and gives a nice little kitchen/desk space area. Very comfortable beds, great bathroom.
The complimentary snacks/drinks in the room were a great surprise as Americans used to those sort of things costing extra in hotel rooms. Very responsive and helpful owners.
Well appointed room, with the added advantage of comfortable couch. Spotlessly clean so heads up to hotel staff. COVID precautions were comprehensive without being obstructive. Everything we expected from a hotel of this brand. Is the first time we have stayed at this hotel when in Wellington but have decided next time would definitely stay here again. Location is amazing.
I booked this at the last minute, as I wanted a hotel in the centre of the city. It was perfectly located and the staff were very diligent and helpful. The terrace room I booked was tired and certainly in need of renovation, but the bed was comfy and I slept well, despite it overlooking the road and the exit from the motorway.
Very central location. We walked everywhere around the CBD. Easy use of the car stacker when we needed to venture further. Staff were most helpful in also accommodating our son after AirNZ cancelled his flight late and the pressure was on hotel beds in Wellington. Kitchenette was well-equipped with utensils.
I liked the fact that we were able to book the hotel very last minute and had very accommodating staff who assisted us. I liked the location which was right next to a supermarket and city location. The room had all the necessities. I liked that there was 24 hour reception also.
This is a good hotel for us to stay overnight to attend events in Wellington city. It's clean and the beds are comfortable. It's not 5star, and could use some refurbishment, but for the cost, which includes breakfast, it's good value. We've stayed before and will stay again
It’s location was perfect for walking to and from all city destinations. Corner room had good views and was on a quiet street near a great New World supermarket and delicious fish & chips shop. The breakfast offering was generous and a hotel dinner was superb!
We have stayed at of hotels in Sojourn Apartments Hotel, Wellington . The rooms were clean and well-maintained. the location was perfect - close to the city centre and attractions. Staff was very hospitable and there for every need of us. Thank you so much.
Strategic location in Wellington, close to all city sights & facilities. Excellent & lavish breakfast, very good Wi-Fi & very friendly & helpful staff. Rooms clean & cozy. A hotel point of reference definitely to recommend for enjoying your in Wellington.
Boulcoutt is the preferred accommodation in Wellington for our executive team. The staff are helpful and friendly and the accommodation is comfortable and clean. It is fairly central to where we need to go in the city.
Hotel Waterloo is one of the best Locations to stay at when coming to Wellington City. Lovely old Deco Hotel from
yester-years still has that Charm and Character for its Guests. Great for the Solo Traveller.
A fine hotel w/ kitchen, somewhat up the hill from the centre of Wellington, and down the hill from the botanic gardens. A good base for visiting Auckland on foot. Room was well appointed. We had a good stay.
Very Central to Wellington CBD. Access to the building was good and there was a least 2-3 Bar/Restaurants just next door.
Very good value for money with the hotel across the road at least 50% more expensive.
We liked the Room, The shower was good the room was very nice and quiet and the location was excellent. If you want to explore Wellington CBD this is a great Hotel
Excellent location in Wellington City - near to restaurants and bars. Lovely complimentary drinks and chocolate in the room. Nice kitchen and laundry facilities.
