The cutest small town any time of year. I've been in the summer when people fill the beaches and streets, and I've been in the winter when the buildings are decorated with lights and everyone hangs ornaments on a Christmas tree on the beach. Lots of places to walk and explore both along the water and inland, many historical and beautiful buildings to tour, vineyards and beaches to spend your time, and wonderful places to stay.

We loved it all, but especially the Red Parrot and Moorings where we had great food. Ma's Donuts on the outskirts of the town was excellent too, if no good for the waistline. Travel in town is easy out of season. We walked a lot and when driving easily found parking for free.

I only go to Newport for the Chowderfest in the spring and the seafood fest in the fall and it is a great place to hang out. So many great restaurants like the Black Pearl and Midtown Oyster Bar to name a couple...

Unfortunately, I reached the hotel on night of September 23rd whereas my booking Thro Booking.com was from September 24th
The hotel charged almost USD 1000 for one night, which I felt was terrible
Hotel was not full and charging more than double than per night rate of Booking.com left us with bad experience

Wonderful place to visit.
Wonderful place to visit.
When we bought the tickets to tour the mansion "The Breakers" we were told that we could upgrade our tickets to include more mansions when finished. For us, 1 mansion tour was sufficient, so I'm happy we didn't purchase a multi-tour upfront.
The Cliff Walk was a little more difficult than I had read in some reviews. We did the entire 3.5 miles & there were multiple spots of rocky terrain, not just one as I was expecting. However, it was worth it!
We timed the ocean drive for sunset & the views were gorgeous. There were multiple spots to stop to enjoy the view even more.
We got around Newport mostly by walking, it is do-able but many roads have no sidewalks, so if you need an even terrain, I wouldn't attempt walking everywhere.

Loved the Cliff walk, and the 40 steps, toured the Breakers and The Marble House. Wish we had planned for tea at the Marble House pagoda. The free trolley made getting around town. We ran out of time to do anything else.
I would highly recommend a stay at the Almondy Inn in Newport Rhode Island. We were treated like royalty. I was lucky enough to get a room upgrade due to a cancelation. The room was beautifully decorated and had a pretty sea view. We enjoyed happy hour each afternoon and an incredibly delicious breakfast each morning. The location of the Inn is perfect. It is right in the heart of town. You can walk everywhere. The owners were very kind and extremely generous!! I will be back.
This was a really beautiful boutique hotel! It surpassed expectations. My mom's and my favorite part was the gourmet complementary breakfast that was provided. We have never experienced such details. The rooms were exceptionally clean and welcoming with such cool details and style! Very comfortable seating areas both inside and outside also. The walk to downtown Newport was just about a half mile, which was convenient. The free parking was a huge plus, especially for Newport!
We were called to let them know about arrival time since they are not a 24/7 lobby hotel. When I returned the call, the owner was friendly, nice and clear on her instructions about where to park and what to do when we got there. She also gave us wonderful recommendations on things to do around town. We loved how close it was to the Newport harbor. Just a few minutes away, walking distance. The breakfast was delicious and fresh!! Will love to stay again.
location was great- right in the middle of Newport, between the tourist part on the port and the more local scene on broadway. bed was really comfortable. great price. great recommendations from Brian to go watch bands in Fifth Element (Monday night great house band - really enjoyed this) and the Fastway. nice food in Obrien’s Irish pub and gorgeous brunch in an Italian Bar Cino- all walking distance from the accomodation.
Probably the best view in the area! The rooms are spacious and very convenient for a family. There are also multiple pools, which is super unique to the area hotels/resorts, and it was a big difference maker for us! The location is also the starting point of the Newport walking life, but quiet and private at the same time. We loved our stay here and would highly recommend! We'll definitely be back 😊
The Cleveland House Inn was the perfect location to explore lovely Newport, Rhode Island. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Staff provided great recommendations for dining. The room was very cozy and clean. The bed was very comfortable. We will definitely be staying at The Cleveland House Inn again, and will recommend to our family and friends planning to visit Newport!
This property is beautiful! Friendly staff, the room was a nice size and so clean, shampoo and body wash smelled amazing, bed was very comfortable. Nice little common area with a water refill station and a beautiful view. The hotel bar sits right on the water for the best sunset views. This hotel is located in the middle of all the fun!
The staff is always exceptional! The rooms are not your average hotel room, more like your own little apartment. The location is fantastic - right in the middle of all Newport has to offer!! It’s also dog friendly and right next to a convenient park. MacDougal gives it 2 paws up 🐾 We’ll be back for sure!!
I liked the warmth of the hotel and it was quiet but close to everything. Breakfast was great! Peter was a gem, open and helpful host. I loved Newport! I honestly didn't get to see as much as the first day the weather was foggy. Got a sunny day so happy days...
Breakfast made per your request in the comfortable and homy dining room. Building keeps the look and feel of old Newport in the heart of a neighborhood which is an attraction on its own to visit and feel. Very close to the harbor and shops yet quiet.
The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly from the moment we arrived, our room was very comfortable, particularly the bed. We had supper in the restaurant which was superb. The location on Thames street was very convenient for exploring Newport.
- Nice lawn in front of the hotel, very practical to walk the dog and play
- Beautiful decoration
- Spacious and comfortable bedroom, carpet in the dog friendly room too
- Free parking
- 8 minute drive from Newport center
Lovey tea time treats and great and varied breakfast. Fabulous situation. You can walk the entire road with lots of restaurants and shops close by. Parking is directly across from the hotel. Would stay there again.
We will never stay anywhere else in Newport again, perfect location, great staff and such a welcoming place. Im hopeful next time the restaurant is open which is closed due to the pandemic. Absolutely a 5 star hotel!
The staff were super friendly and welcoming. The rooms have personality. You are located right in the heart of Newport on Thames Street. Overall fantastic. I'm already dreaming of my next trip.
The hotel location was outstanding, very close to all of the major attractions that Newport has to offer.
The free breakfast was well prepared and carefully laid out by the very attentive staff.
We usually stay at a different hotel when we travel to Newport but figured we would try this one. No complaints at all. The pool was nice and the room was spacious.
