Stunning Split stands proudly on the eastern shores of the Adriatic Sea, and due to its great climate is called the Mediterranean Flower. It features eclectic architecture, spectacular views and delicious cuisine.
Split is centered around the ancient Roman Palace of the Emperor Diocletian, a magnificent building constructed at the beginning of the 4th century AD and featuring limestone and marble towers, columns and courtyards. It lies in a bay decorated with white sails of yachts, as sailing is definitely Split’s big thing!
The city is full of architectural gems, one of which is St. Duje’s Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in the world, built in 305 AD and combining both Roman and Catholic influences. Nearby Varoš is a must-see, one of the city’s oldest parts, full of charming streets and beautiful houses.
Make sure you visit the Bačvice Beach and the Riva promenade, popular with locals and full of cafés and palm trees. While on the hunt for local specialities, try soparnik - wood fired dough filled with vegetables - or local soft drinks Pipi and Orela.
So just pack your bags and head to Split Airport! Booking.com has plenty of sunny apartments, friendly guest houses and well-equipped hotels for your Split adventure.

Very beautiful city with many activities for family : visit the surrounding islands, go to the beaches, go for hiking, sightseeing, visiting some parks and old cities ... The best month for a stay is April i think as the weather is sunny and not too warm. And as it's low season for tourism, the city is not crowded of people and prices aren't so high as in summer, even prices are quite expensive that expected. Split in general is clean, well organised, secure. The Croatian people seem nice, civic, welcoming and pleasant. You could communicate with them in English almost everywhere. What is a bit of a shame is that the restaurants which truly serve local and typical cuisine of the country are few in number and difficult to spot, unlike those which offer world cuisine.

Split was a very positive surprise for me.
Split was a very positive surprise for me. It was easy and also very safe to walk all around the city. It was not so easy to climb up the hill of Marjan, but when you reached the top, you had a marvellous view. Split has many high quality restaurants, but their menues are very homogeneous. Seabream, seabass, tuna, fish, fish and fish grilled or tartar. And the prices are also the same. That means quite high in a fishing village. I like fish, but after two weeks I started looking for something else. Finally I found one restaurant serving Sarma, stuffed cabbage rolls, which is a traditional food there. For me a real delicacy.

We travelled to Split in December in low season so did not have lots of tourists around at this time and made it easy to see attractions. Rented a car and went to Plitvice National Park, Klis Fortress, Salona ancient village, the village of Vid where an ancient roman museum is of Roman Emperor Alexander the Great is located, and to Trogir and the Ciovino Island adjacent to Trogir. Xmas lights and festivities were happening all round the Old City. Had some great weather to enjoy these wonderful sites. Not many guided tours were available at this time so a rented car was very useful, and street parking was relatively easy to find because of low season. Any paid parking was 20-25 Euro per day, so happy to avoid that.

Beautiful seaside resort steeped in ancient history.
Beautiful seaside resort steeped in ancient history. In 5 days, we took a rickshaw ride to get started; walked through Diocletian Palace and Riva; enjoyed horseback ride at Podstrana; ziplining at Mt. Kozjak; and half-day speedboat ride to 3 islands including Trogir. Also took a half-day road trip to Krka National Park. Ate at restaurants along the Riva - al good. Look for free parking on street or low priced in public parking lots.
Authentic Croatian accomadation within the walls of the Palace. One of the best boutique hotels I have ever stayed in on my travels. The room is large with high ceilings and windows facing the Bell tower..You can here the wonderful opera singers throughout the day which adds that magical feel to your stay..The host Simona was extremely friendly and courteous and spent time telling us the best places to visit and resturants to eat..Highly recommend Riva Palace as a place to stay when visiting split..10/10 Outstanding
This is the best hostel I have ever been, pictures totally matches the reality.
Total cleanliness, white, moder, fresh renovation, perfectly new bathrooms with soap and shower gel.
Including full breakfast with cereals and fresh fruits.
The location was also good, no business of old town, but walking distance from it.
I also wanted to mention, I was a digital nomad in Croatia, so I was working while being in this hostel. Apart from room there was also possibility to work from a cozy living room or sunny terrace.
Location was perfect. It is so close to the bus terminus. There's a short cut across the tracks which takes only 5 mins. It is walking distance to the old Town n the only sandy beach in Split. The room was clean n comfortable room. It was a lovely gesture by the host to leave water bottles for us in the room for the first day. Also, when we checked out, the host helped us with our luggage. He was so easily contactable. There was also a kettle n 2 cups in the room. Most hotels I stayed in Croatia didn't have.
I booked at the last minute, and the host provided me with enough info to find this cute little place right on the edge of the old town. First floor access was very important for me, and it was an easy ~100 m walk from a parking lot (I had a lot of luggage to bring in, and I drove). Right near a great square that is a bit less touristy than elsewhere in the old town -- I went to Split to watch Croatia in the UEFA League of Nations final, and was not disappointed. Best location for exactly what I went to do!
Unfortunately we only stayed here 1 night before departing Croatia but it was enough to see just how beautiful this hotel is. We got a room in the recently renovated wing with seaview and it was incredible, felt like out of a dream. All staff was extremely friendly (front desk, spa, restaurant managers) and made us feel very welcomed as soon as we walked in. Could not recommend it enough. They have a beach club as well with direct access to the sea and food/drinks and DJ. Very fun and stylish hotel.
Thanks to this place and personally to Serjan, we fell in love with the city of Split and are now waiting to come back here again. Serjan helped us with everything and even solved our personal complex questions during our stay. The rooms and the mini-hotel itself are very clean, modern, and nicely decorated. We really liked the breakfasts and the restaurant in which they were provided. This was our best stay in Croatia. Thank you Serjan!
Amazing apartment with everything you need. Full kitchen and laundry made such a difference on our 7 week holiday. Perfect for when you need a reset and feel like cooking for yourself at home. The host was also the best, did not meet her in person but she kept in touch over WhatsApp our entire stay and helped us a lot. Location is about 10-15 min walk to the old town/city centre.
Luxury hotel with clean, large rooms, lots of amenities, friendly and helpful staff, and great location. Easy walk to old town and great room views. Even easier walk to the beach. Pool and lounge area is also very nice if you don't want to leave the property one day. Highly recommend. It was the best room we had our entire two week trip in Croatia, full patio was so nice to have.
Upon arrival from a long drive from Slunj, we were greeted by lovely staff that shared a traditional Croatian liquor and presented us with a map of Split with talking points on places to go, eat, and drink. They toured us around the hotel to ensure we were welcomed and our questions answered. Location was perfect for a short walk to Diocletian's Palace and main Split boardwalk.
This is our 4 th stay in split and second stay here it is easily the best place we have stayed in Croatia. Amazing location, amazing rooms - big and luxurious . It really is totally perfect. The staff could not have been more helpful booking Covid tests and taxis. I cannot recommend more highly. Such value for money in such a special place.
Quiet social atmosphere in common area.
Room, common area and washroom are well sized and don't feel cramped. Looks well maintained.
Luggage lockers present and large enough for backpack. Curtains for the beds, sockets and light.
Very pleasant stay here, so far one of the better hostels I have seen in Croatia. Well designed and built.
European elegance with modern facilities in a boutique hotel. Great location. Incredible breakfast and helpful hosts/managers. Location is perfect. The only problem we had was booking.com process but the hotel handled it graciously. Definitely one of the best of many that we stayed in during our trip to Croatia.
- The room was very spacious, clean and looked recently renovated
- Comfortable bed
- Welcoming drinks, snacks and also plenty of extra hotel kits (shower gel, shampoos, shaving kit, etc)
- Host gave us the restaurant recommendation for our best meal in Croatia. Just a few meters from the apartment :)
Great location just being a 10 min walk from the old town. The host was lovely, she supplied a much needed beer and some sweets. The little courtyard was very nice and looked the same as the photos. A very nice start to our Croatia trip and I couldn't recommend this room enough.
Lovely spa, excellent massage by Iris. Modern hotel, super clean and friendly staff. One of the best breakfast buffets I’ve had in a hotel and certainly the best in Croatia. Although outside the old city an easy walk to all the sites. Huge free parking space too.
Great location close to the ferry’s and lots of restaurants. The host was great! She booked a car for our arrival and departure from the Split Airport (40 Euro both ways). Croatia is amazing, 10/10 coming back and would recommend.
Ideal location in city centre. I was already quest in more small hotels like this in Split, but Jupiter Luxury is far the best. Rooms are great, very good choice of breakfast.... front desk employees very helpful and polite.
Location, near the Port. Incredible restaurant BBQ style restaurant right next door to the apartment - it was the best meal we had in Croatia. Beds were super comfortable, nice bathroom.
