I am not so much a fan of Port Antonio town but the area of Portland is my favourite as it’s so beautiful and peaceful. I always stay longer in the part of the island as it’s so wonderful to come from a big city like a London to this peaceful paradise.

We didn't spend a lot of time in the town of Port Antonio, but did have a delicious fish and lobster dinner at Roots 21. We mostly went to the beaches near fairy hill and Zion hill. Taxis are plentiful but we chose to use Polish Princess charter service as it was raining and or dark when we went out for dinner.

The main problem being in port Antonio is transportation if you are not driving. because it is not a tourist area like montego Bay or Negill, you may have difficulty reaching there or when you are Leaving!! I have been here about six times now And that is the biggest problem. There are great restaurants here with great food food along the area near Boston beach. Even though the jerk centers are not always that greatest according to reputation. the jerk restaurant right at the Boston beach Guest house entrance was excellent also also Rocky's fried chicken was good. I don't recall the names of a few of the other restaurants!!

Port Antonio is very charming place to visit in Jamaica.
Port Antonio is very charming place to visit in Jamaica. The town itself is very lively, and the surrounding area has lots of outdoor attractions do including, Frenchmans, cove, blue Lagoon, horseback riding, and more.
Be aware, however, that the roads are rough! There was construction going on as of late November 2023 when we visited. So we were stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic at one point while they closed the road. There is only one main road and one lane each direction so getting around takes some time, even tough the distance between attractions may seem short.
Also have your wits about you when interacting with street vendors, they may overcharge you. So ask for prices upfront and calculate your total before handing over any cash. We got ripped off and wound up paying $1,000 JMD for a fritter, Callaloo and breadfruit but it was our fault for not double checking the total.

I love the parish of Portland and always enjoy being in Port Antonio. Decent, kind, welcoming people and the many attractions to visit and beaches to visit.
I am just hoping they fix the roads sooner than later.

Lovely authentic town but not for the faint hearted...
Lovely authentic town but not for the faint hearted travellers. You need to go with the flow and chat to the locals! The harbour area is pretty but the town is 'real', nothing touristy about it, which we love but it's not for everyone.
The beaches nearby are amazing but the road to get to them is largely unmade which makes the journey very slow! Overtime you can see they are improving it but I can't imagine it will be done in 2023.
The staff there could not have been better so kind and always helpful. The what's app service for pre ordering food and asking questions of the front desk staff was quick and easy and always answered immediately. I saw reviews about the food being slow this is not the case at all, we didn't wait more than 15 min for any meal. The hotel did not seem crowded and you always had space at the restaurant, pool and beach. Arthur the lifeguard was lovely and took me out to find the sea turtles which was fun.
As soon as we arrived at the hotel, the check in was friendly and quick. The rooms are as exactly how they look in the photos. We dined in the restaurant in the evening, there were 4 of us and we all had different meals, and everyone of us were more than happy with the size of the portions were stop on. And I would highly recommend the coconut curried shrimp, the flavour was the best I've had. The pool is nice and relaxing. The whole experience was awesome and we will definitely be returning quests.
The Guy at the front desk when we arrived to check in did not hand over to the staff the next morning that their is guest staying there and we would need breakfast. To be honest I was not impressed at all. Was tempted to go elsewhere from the moment we got there. We didn't feel comfortable and maybe because we look local we were treated locally because he didn't even know that we weren't from Jamaica. We just didn't feel welcome and it felt like it was all about the hotel getting paid.
The hotel has an amazing palace like structure, with well trained staff and large rooms. It is close to Port Antonio downtown (about 10 minutes by car) and 5 to 10 min alway from Frenchman's Cove Beach and Blue Lagoon spot. Taxis and other transportation options (such as vans) pass by in front of the hotel and they stop for you there, if you ask, making the location quite good. It has a great view and a beautiful garden, where you can have breakfast contemplating the nature.
The owner is a very kind and helpful lady. We got lots if hints and support from her. The location was perfect. Breakfest was delecious. All the staff is very nice and friendly. Our room and top terrace met all our needs. For the price that you pay, it was an excellent choice and I can only recommend to anyone who would like to stay not far away from Port Antonio, still surrounded by a beautiful nature. Basia, thank you so much and greetings from Zurich :)
We were welcomed by the staff on arrival and treated with love and respect. The food was so tasty we didn't want to eat anywhere else. The property is amazingly peaceful and a short walk to the river or beach. Highly recommend as a place to escape from the hustle and bustle of life. The staff was my favorite part, they were attentive, kind, and went out of the way to make our stay unforgettable.
Carla is a wonderful person and together with TJ a great caring host. She has all the knowledge of Portland and beyond and can tell how to find your way.
The clean and well equipped guesthouse has a relaxing lush garden with the sound of sea and birds.
Beautiful beaches are within walking distance and Port Antonio within minutes by taxi for JMD 150. A lovely place.
The scenery is breathtaking. The sound of the ocean. The private beach. The cottage. The bed. The bathroom. The restaurant. The food. The staff. The security. All absolutely amazing. We visited for my parents 50th wedding anniversary and my mother's birthday and it exceeded expectations. We shall return 😊.
Great value for money, the place is clean and well maintained, located conveniently near several beaches and blue lagoon.
Breakfasts were delicious and staff ensured we felt at home. Owner Mrs. Barbara is extremely helpful and always provided advices on things to do, eat etc.
Recommend it to everyone!
We had a wonderful stay at the property. It was clean and tidy. The kitchen is fully equipped, very spacious and modern. We enjoyed the pool, the gym space is complete. The location is an amazing escape form reality, roosted in the hills.
We definitely fell in love with Port Antonio !
Marie is an amazing host. The room is stunningly clean and comfortable, the aircon is silent, the bed so comfortable and the bathroom is impeccable. Would recommend this place to anyone. The location is also brilliant for exploring Port Antonio. Thank you Marie!
authentic Jamaican breakfast everyday. Staff very accommodating. Especially the night staff. Located by the locals that showed much love.Port Antonio is a great parish just wish I could see the streets paved so the cars can actually drive thru & see da beauty.
The apartment is located in the hills above Port Antonio but not far from the town centre and was therefore near enough to everything one may need during a stay.
It also contained the comforts of home, eg, a full kitchen with all the essential appliances.
It was a trip for my birthday. And celebrated with new friends just made. https://youtu.be/4V9SxlBRhSc
The staff makes you feel like family....the pool view is amazing...and the room is one of the best. French Cove was a very cozy crystal clear beach.
Stefano very graciously helped me check in in the middle of the night as my flight landed at 2 in the morning. He is very knowledgeable of all the shortcuts to local beaches, and will even walk you there! Plus same day laundry service
Great location: In the centre of Port Antonio and 10 minutes walk to Errol Flinn Marina. Marie is kind and helpful. She helped me book a taxi and a trip to Blue Lagoon. The room and bathroom are beautiful and very clean.
A great place to stay with necessities within walking distance. The beach being just down the road was an excellent addition to the deal. The hosts were very accommodating. Would book again.
The host is super friendly, helpful and cooks great past. His place is very comfortable and spacious. There’s a great beach close by I super recommend to stay there.
