I was only in the charming historical part of the time.
I was only in the charming historical part of the time. There were few cars and a very free feeling as people were on foot and riding bicycles. I could go everywhere I wanted to go on foot. However, I never came across a city map which could have kept me from getting lost. The buses were very quiet. The cuisine was varied and well-prepared. I ate all my meals in the Gao Indian restaurant on Kurze Geismar Strasse because it was the best Indian restaurant I have ever experienced. I didn't visit any sites because I was doing research in the university's archives.

Attractive old houses in the town centre, the market place with the "Goose Girl" statue, you can walk around the city wall, two free botanical gardens are worth a visit. It's compact enough to walk around, or the buses are reliable. Around the town the woods are lovely, lots of paths, full of beautiful wild flowers in spring, green and peaceful in the summer. I saw red squirrels! If you're looking for a friendly church I recommend the Baptisten Gemeinde in Burgerstrasse (Sundays at 10.30 am).

They cheated us for our money! Very bad service! We were late for the check in, because of the traffic. The owner would not wait an hour for us to come and told us to find another hotel. No time to take a look at the city this time! But I have been there at least three times before, an interesting town - and the only one in Germany where I have got introduction brochures in Norwegian!

Gottingen is very nice old town with fantastic science background - it produced 44 Nobel laureates. City centre is very nice to walk, to get coffee, some shopping, a lot of art objects and lovely spots to take a photo. For 1-2 day tour is enough. If you are in Gottingen your must-see is St.Jacob's chirch and it's 600m bell tower, where you can get on the top level and observe Gottingen from a bird fly level - fantastic view! The room nicely decorated and clean. The bathroom spacious with everything you need. Really good beds with soft sheets. The hotel is spacious and lovely decorated. We had burgers Waguy! Wow! Crispy potatoes and a lovely salad. A redwine Barolo that fitted perfectly. The waiter was attentive and also gave the dogs water. Also so nice to be able to bring them when we eat.

I don't normally say this, because people from hotel staff typically are very cordial, but I was amazed by how attentive, kind and diligent everybody was. They really made an effort to understand my terrible German (unfortunately nobody spoke English) and were super nice and accommodating. In particular the people from the kitchen/ breakfast area, they were adorable. And breakfast was just amazing.
