I stayed in the hotel for a year ago, and then rated it the following way (quote):
"Liked · A modest, a bit worn down hotel. But very well situated and price worthy. If you only need a clean, cheap room downtown to only sleep in, a very good choice.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The hotel also has an interesting history, the building was head quarter for the Soviet occupant troups in the area 1944-1992, after which it was refurnished as a hotel."
Now a year later I have nothing to add! A good cheap choice, very well situated.
In my review in March 2023 i claimed, that "the breakfast was ok but not really worth the price (10€)". This year I would say that also the breakfast was perfectly ok. Perhaps they read my review?

I was actually positively surprised by the variety of the breakfast. Everything was there, you had your eggs and bacon, some fresh fruits, some sweets, so nothing was missing.

Tartu is the second biggest city in Estonia, it has lots of places to visit, like museums, science centre, shopping centres, theatre, there are lots of walking to do, there are great local transport links in Tartu, there are plenty of hotels,B&Bs, plus apartments to stay in, most of the big shopping centres are in the city centre, there is also a free bus that takes you to one of the biggest shopping centres in Estonia, just on the outside of Tartu, that shopping centre is very big, and takes about two hours to walk round, it has a lot of different store, restaurants, etc there.
The local buses are also great to use,buy a tartu bus card, tap and go, or, buy tickets at Tartu bus Station, there are local buses, and city buses, there are lots of them, make sure to get a map, as it is a little difficult to know where to go/get off, if you do not know the area.
By the river, across the foot bridge from the city centre behind the market, you will find a nice beach area for summer, it is lovely there, and sandy, plus changing areas for everyone.

Fell in love with Tartu!
Fell in love with Tartu! An absolutely amazing city with a wide range of museums and activities, cosy and variable dining places, perfect for strolling and cycling around... So much to discover! I will surely return!
Try out the city museums, observation tower, printing history museums, science center, spa center, public transportation is easy to use and takes you all around town with an ease. Yet, one can also rent city bikes to move around 😀

Tartu is a beautiful student city to stay at.
Tartu is a beautiful student city to stay at. With the river running right through it it has everything you can wish for. It is busy enough to get whatever you want, but also to feel almost alone enjoying the lights around the river lights during the evening.
Also a lot of nature in a short drive away.

A nice and compact city - so called "university" town.
A nice and compact city - so called "university" town. A lot of things going on and many pubs on every corner. Just don't travel to Narva after visiting this town. It will be like a slap in the face.
Lovely facilities with views over busy road but not noisy. Very central for bus station 5-10 min walk, and similar to the old town. Train station 20-30 min walk away.
Great breakfast at associated restaurant on first floor. Best breakfast coffee from a machine in travels in Estonia. Fresh and cooked fruit to go with porridge. Good selection of hot and cold food. Even pasta pre Tartu Marathon.
Can select to have a kettle, so able to make drinks as needed. Also can select if room cleaned rather than daily input.
Great location with nice view out to the park, plenty of space, large disabled bathroom with heated floor(lovely), easy to control heating in the room, large TV with some Estonian channels. Beds very comfortable.
The 24 hour reception is very convenient with seamless check-in. There is also a lot of history in this building, which stimulates imagination during your stay!
Good value for money for a short-term stay, especially if you have a pet with you. Bed was very comfy, all necessary things were there plus some sweet touches, like the set table and complimentary tea for example. Towels were good! Also loved the big TV that had all Estonian channels and possible to watch Youtube etc. Easy contact-free check-in and very friendly staff!
Great kitchen facility and utilities. Very new apartment. Awesome location, walking distance of both old town and Estonian national museum, playground on premises, comfortable bed, nice outdoor seating on deck. Washing powder, dishwasher tabs and shower gel, shampoo was provided! Thanks.
The apartment was a great place to stay for a visit to Tartu. The location was close to the City Centre and the beautiful park areas near the University. It had a nice coffee machine and kettle, plus a fridge/cooktop and oven. Everything was squeaky clean and easy to find.
The location is perfect. Vallikraavi street goes along a picturesque path to the old town. Next to Toomemäe hill, you can enjoy scenic routes and enjoy the best of what Tartu has to offer. You can go everywhere on foot. The apartment is modern and suitable for a short stay.
Perfect location to participate in Tartu Rattaralli race. We could park our car in the hotel's parking lot during the race and use their facilities for clothing change later.
Rooms looked to be renovated since our last visit a year ago, everything was clean and nice
I was impressed by the modern design of the hotel, it looked superb. The room was really nice, bed was large. Shower utensils were lovely, and breakfast was nice too. I did not use the SPA area, but my colleague liked it (three saunas and a swimming pool available).
Literally everything! I have been visiting Estonia for a few years now and regardless I try to make a stop in Tartu to stay in Lydia. It’s pure relaxation for me, the spa, restaurant, breakfast is still wonderful. Thank you.
New build - OK location quite close to train station and an OK walk or a bus to the centre At this time of year the pavements can be very slippery as Estonia is poor at this task - pedestrians have few rights here.
Good breakfast with lots of Estonian breakfast dishes, loved the herring. The room had a theme and was very comfortable after a day driving. The hotel has a very quirky theme, kept me smiling for the entire stay
The administrator was kind and returned some of the money for the trouble that was made. A huge parking lot. The room was spacious enough. A lot of Estonian candies served at the table of the room.
The hotel room was nice, only small windows made the room dark. Location also is perfect just in the middle of the city. Easy access to the spa and shopping centers.
Overall pretty good hotel. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was very good with lots of different options for both vegetarian and non.
