My kids and I loved this Hotel. Our purpose to stay here was because we were going to Universal Studios Japan, and the location was excellent. Just walking for 5 mins to get to citiwalk and theme park, we were there only for 2 nights and we had the top floor. Beautiful view , a lot of spots for pics in the hotel plus their breakfast buffet was delicious. Fresh squeezed orange juice was our favorite drink. The rooms were so spacious for all the luggages I was carrying 7 total. Beds are big and very comfy. There is a bathtub and shower plus lots of amenities in the room including daily facial masks. Simply beautiful. I will most likely return here if I visit Osaka next time and will stay for longer days. I was sad leaving as I wished I stayed there longer.

The family room is a suite with 2 rooms which was a nice surprise. We were on the 25th floor and enjoyed the view. The hotel is part of a complex building so we’re a few stores and restaurants just outside. There’s also a really cool onsen and spa one building over (just don’t eat there…) Very close to train stations.

At the meeting point of river and sea, huge Osaka combines forward-thinking development and sure-footed tradition. This is symbolised in its temple-like, 16th century castle, guarded by ramparts and enlivened by vibrant spring cherry blossom. Dominating the surrounding skyline is Osaka Business Park, a reminder of the city’s strong role in the Japanese economy.
However, the most striking skyscraper is the Umeda Sky Building - 2 towers connected by a rooftop terrace offering far-reaching views. The nearby Osaka and Umeda train stations are linked by underground shopping centres, while the shops of Shinsaibashi’s America Village appeal to a younger crowd. Dōtonbori’s neon lights promote more shops, as well as restaurants considered the best in Osaka. In a city touted as Japan’s culinary capital, that’s quite an accolade.
The Tsūtenkaku tower overlooks Tennōji Park, home of the Osaka Municipal Museum of Art. Another nearby park houses Shitennō-ji, one of Japan’s oldest Buddhist temples.
The Kyocera Dome Osaka is a shrine of baseball, and more thrills are at waterfront Universal Studios Japan, the country’s 2nd largest theme park. Also by the sea is Kansai International Airport, on its own artificial island.
The capsule hotel was invented in Osaka, and alongside this type of accommodation, Booking.com also offers luxury hotels with pools, cheap hostels and traditional ryokans.

For a first time visitor to Japan, I am glad I chose Osaka, rather than Tokyo. Whilst we did visit Tokyo, it was too large and very busy with an extremely complex underground/railway network.
We stayed in two locations during our holiday. The first being appartments designed for short stay tourists. The second was a holiday home which worked out cheaper and was much more spacious. If you are travelling with a family I can highly recommend the second option. Whilst it was not centrally located, the area (Imaichi) was quiet and clearly was not used to tourists in that area (this was a good thing!) There was a more friendly atmosphere - and homely feel about the area.
Central Osaka was easier to navigate than Tokyo with fewer underground lines. Wether you wanted to stay in a city envronment or visit more rural areas such as Nara or the northern beaches of Tottori (Higashihama - 100m from the station!) - It could all be done with a cheaper JR Area Pass (rather than the more expensive all Japan JR Rail Pass). Kyoto and Lake Biwa was stunning. With easy access westwards towards Himeji, Fukuyama and Hiroshima, Osaka is a much more all rounded experience of Japan.
I would say self catering accommodation is the way to go. The food availalble from convenience stores and the local markets is freshly prepared, restaurant quality and ready to eat. I am amazed if the local population actually properly cook for themselves at all! I could not get over the size of the apples (huge)! Try the strawberry and cream sandwich - go on - do it!

Osaka has a lot to offer: short day trips to lovely cities (Kyoto, Kobe, Nara), nice sightseeing in walkable distances, huge shopping areas and a lot of activities to book!
The botanical garden has a Lightshow you don‘t wanna miss (but of course not always).
Tip: go and slide down the tower of Tsutenkaku- I loved it!! (1000 Yen)
The metro is easy to use and you could also book (electrical) bike vis Luup (app).

A perfect entry point towards the south of Japan and easily accessible to all other destinations in Japan and the Osaka castle and proximity to Kyoto was the logical decision to make Osaka our base upon arrival and departure.

Osaka is a wonderful city, more navigable than Tokyo with a more laid-back vibe. The amount of day trips that are possible could fill sever weeks - as well as Kyoto, NARA, Himeji and Hiroshima, give Kinosaki Onsen, Kurashiki or Mount Koya a try.

More compact than Tokyo, but still loads to do.
More compact than Tokyo, but still loads to do. Food and drink the main draw.... USJ worth a day (get there 90mins before opening time - download the app and set up party before arriving). KIX airport is a WAY out (like NRT in Tokyo).
The staff were very friendly and the rooms were huge compared to a typical hotel room in Japan.
I was able to walk between two metro stations very easily which made getting around the city very easy. The Lawsons across the road was an absolute life saver! And there are loads of restaurants within walking distance. The hotel has a sushi restaurant which looked amazing though I didn’t use it because I had already booked other plans.
The general vibe of the room was great. If we come back to Osaka we will definitely stay here again!
The hotel rooms were large for the price with apartment amenities: dishes, fridge, microwave and clothes washer. Beds were comfortable with plush comforters. Soundproofing was excellent - we did not hear any street noise or neighbors over three nights and although our room was closest to the elevator, we did not hear any elevator noise in our room. Breakfast was impressive with both Japanese and European choices, hot foods replenished quickly, cold foods kept cold.
Would choose the Fraser Residence Nankai Osaka again if in Osaka.
Excellent hotel to stay at during our short stay in Osaka. The hotel was about a 7 minute walk to the nearest station. Dotonbori was a 15 minute walk. The hotel is also located quite close to a large shopping mall for any of your needs there. I liked that there were food vendors and a Family Mart just across the street if we needed to grab a quick bite. Also free great amenities such as face masks and bath salts when you return from a long day of exploring and want to relax in the evening.
We spent one night in Osaka before traveling on to other parts of Japan. The hotel is very pretty and has an interesting church on the grounds. The staff were helpful and cheerful. Beds were fine, shower was fine. The hotel is not in the train station, but is accessible from the train station by walking underground. We had an issue with our thermostat and they came right away to fix it -and it was fixed to our satisfaction. We didn't eat there, but the restaurants looked very nice.
Central Namba above train station, 2 minutes from room by lift (to L3) to airport express train to Kansai. Hotel porter will bring all your luggage to train with you. Lots of shopping in downstairs mall and walking distance to shopping street in Dotonbori. Executive lounge on 33F has free good selection of cocktails and food between 5-7pm. Room quiet and great view of Osaka. Breakfast on top floor has great selection and view. Two large beds in our twin room. pillows a bit low.
This hotel is right in the center of everything. All major attractions are walking distance. The famous Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi station are 5-10 minutes away. Namba station is 20 minutes away. The Library cafe where breakfast is served really relaxing and open till midnight. All the staff are really helpful, especially Miss Sugimura who is kind cheerful and speaks English fluently. We will definitely stay here again when we visit Osaka.
Clean hotel. Good facilities such as laundry. In a good part of Osaka, 711 across the road and Osaka Castle a short drive away. Close to train station that can get you into central Osaka quickly (only a few stops away). Hotel staff were excellent. They lent us an iPhone charger when our international converter plugs couldn’t fit. Room also had a chrome cast so we could watch what we wanted. Seperate shower to bath which is rare in Japan.
I was really surprised at this hotel. I stayed in a small single room. The room was well equipped, neat and tidy. I liked the location, it's an easy walk to the metro and to Namba Station (for airport express and departing Osaka for Nara) It was also really easy to get around Osaka. The staff were helpful - A big, Thank You to Sajad for helping me with my booking error. This hotel met all my needs whilst I was traveling in Japan.
5 mins walk to Namba Station. Stone’s throw away to the happening Dotonbori area. Family mart is very nearby. So many eateries and restaurants around.
Staff were friendly and approachable.
They have a corner where you can get free ice cream, soft drinks, coffee and beer from 3-9pm; free cup noodles from 8.30-9pm. Fantastic for kids!
Room was small, as are other hotels here in Japan but no problem for us as a couple.
The location cannot be beat. It’s literally a step away from Dotonbori, and very well connected with the rest of Osaka with Namba Station a few minutes walk away. The room was reasonably large for what I booked, and I especially loved the shower which had a very large space, entirely separate from the toilet, with a bath and stand up shower - a first that I’ve seen in Japan where hotel bathrooms can be a little cramped.
Love the location as it is near Dotonbori and many other shops and entertainment. Very accessible and close to public transit. Love the fact that they have a public onsen to use for guests and a free kimono robe! Both western and traditional Japanese breakfast were excellent. And, it’s a Ryokan so you can definitely get a Japanese style of experience.
Very nice, modern hotel. Good location - close to Osaka Namba and to Dotonbori. Good options for food near-by (both for eating out and supermarket - there is a big 24/7 supermarket (not convenience store) very close by).
Good value for money. Staffed reception. Nice lobby area with water and tea facilities.
The hotel is comfortably located very near the Shin Osaka station. I just stayed for one night after arriving in Osaka in the evening, but I enjoyed my stay there. The room was clean, comfortable and relatively big. The breakfast combines western and Japanese style. There is a good ramen restaurant nearby.
Great location, easy access to all bars and restaurants in Dotonbori. Easy to get to from Shin-Osaka station, although the hotel could have mentioned which exit to take in Namba station! The bedroom was compact but comfortable. It was nice to find English speaking films on TV.
The location is fantastic, 2min walk from the metro station. FamilyMart and Lawson nearby, and 20min walk to Namba. The room is spacious comparing to most of the affordable hotels in Osaka. The room is cozy and full of convenience. Also heat supply in the bathroom too.
Large rooms with comfortable beds, plus a nice bathroom with bath salts. The hotel is also right next to the metro station which makes it easy to reach Osaka/Umeda station, and Namba. It’s about a 20 min walk to Dotonbori. The hotel breakfast is also so delicious.
Close to Shin Osaka station. Plenty of food options are available. Great water pressure in the shower with continuous hot water. The room was quiet and the bed was big and comfortable, for a Japanese hotel. For the price, it was a good deal.
This is my third time staying at Nico Hotel and it has always been exactly as what I expect it to be. Rooms are spacious as compared to the standard rooms you get in Japan. It is the perfect choice for groups or families traveling to Osaka.
Straightforward hotel offering down-to-earth rooms. Terrace for relaxing although it appeared to be under renovation during our stay. Free Wi-Fi. Convenient location near Dotonbori district and Namba station. Affordable price.
The location was fantastic, right near Dotonbori and perfect for exploring Osaka. The room was comfortable and clean, we enjoyed our breakfasts and the hotel staff were helpful and friendly.
