A thoroughly liveable city, Melbourne has a buzzy vibe and an Aussie sense of fun. There’s always something going on, and one of its many festivals is Moomba – Australia’s largest free arts festival. Well worth a visit are the National Gallery of Victoria and the Melbourne Aquarium, where you can walk through a clear tunnel as sharks swim over your head.
The city’s most recognizable landmark is Flinders Street Station, whose yellow and green façade matches the color of the historic Melbourne trams that still run around the world’s longest tram network. Keep an eye out for the street art as you travel.
Shopping in Melbourne is fantastic. Queen Victoria Market is the largest open-air market south of the Equator, while the La Trobe Street shopping center has over 300 stores. For food, don’t miss Little Italy - the Carlton area.
South of the Yarra River is St Kilda, home to the best beach and Albert Park, where the F1 Australian Grand Prix is held. However, this isn't the city’s only sports heritage. It’s also the home of Aussie Rules soccer and the MCG, a must-see for cricket fans.
Booking.com has a range of Melbourne accommodations from hotels to hostels and motels, some near Melbourne Airport.
Great city to explore! We spent a few days in Melbourne CBD and also at Yarra Valley for a wedding. The CBD was busy and bustling all the time - reminded us of a much smaller scale of New York City. We loved walking around the CBD and exploring all of the lanes, streets, and shops in the city. The Queen Victoria Market was a cool place we visited as well as the numerous shopping malls, and cafes we stopped at too. Free trams in the city were great!
There was a lot of roadworks on when we were there and also a surprising number of homeless people. There were a few times that we didn’t feel 100% safe in the evenings especially, as there were some different characters around that would yell/fight nearby. Overall, would recommend and will return to visit.

Melbourne is far to busy for my taste...… The people here have a priority of getting places over driving safely! Typical for a big city. Melbourne drivers are reckless and dangerous. As for Melbourne itself I'm no latte sipping snob but this sure as hell chaps my ass. When I get far better service and a friendly smile from an over worked busy "AF" MacDonald's McCafe worker than from some bougie uptight pretentious Café skank that cannot even apply a little smile to her RBF for five seconds of our interaction. Melbourne do better!!! Far better than this "Dan Andrews attempt at the Commonwealth games of coffee and tourism" SMH!!!

This was our 8th visit to Melbourne including a year's stay in 2005-6. Melbourne is the loveliest city we have every visited with its parks and life style. It is very person oriented.
We revisited many walks and places from our previous visits. Spent much time with our many friends. All parts of the city are fully used by residents on weekends, in contrast to Sydney, whose central city is only filled with tourists on weekends.
Getting around is easy with a great tram and train system. Wine estates are available in all directions with about 200 within 1.5hours drive.

Split system wasn't functioning.
Split system wasn't functioning. It took several days before they acted on it. I was cold and bought myself a hot water bottle. A microwave in rooms would be a marked improvement. Lighting is bad for reading at night.

With trams, gf df vegan options, sporting facilities and shopping right at your door, the city holds endless opportunities to fill days. If you are seeking a day trip, the Dandenongs and Yarra Valley are only a short drive away.

Melbourne is such a beautiful city.
Melbourne is such a beautiful city. I was there to see Nick Cave at the Convention Centre. What a concert ❤️. Hotel Indigo was in a perfect place for me to walk to South Bank; in fact l walked everywhere. It was literally a five minute walk from the Southern Cross station.
I can't wait to return to visit all Melbourne has to offer.
The layout of the room was welcoming and practical, with nice decorative touches and heaps of storage for clothes. The bathroom was excellent, with the best shower/bath combination I've seen in a long time. The reception staff were very helpful and welcoming. Lots of tech available, including the ability to stream from a device to the TV. The location was sensational - there's nothing better in Melbourne's CBD than having a tram stop immediately outside the front door!
CBD Empire Apartments was perfect for our group of three. The location of the apartments was perfect, a short walk from Melbourne Central and other convenience shops. The layout of the apartment was accommodating, there was enough space in the main living room and a nice view from the balcony. The pool area on the 31st floor was also great, there are two unisex bathrooms, potentially more in the Gym area which we didn't use.
Worth every cent! Beautiful hotel, classy and very comfortable rooms; staff members are not only polite but very well trained and genuinely caring people. The location is fantastic on Southgate and close to Melbourne CBD, perfect if you have to go to the Exhibition Centre, 10 mins walking distance while enjoying a beautiful city/river view (wear comfy shoes!). We’ll definitely come back again, highly recommended!
The apartment is very near the Southern Cross Station, just five minutes walk ahead! There is also a tram station just in front of the apartment’s entrance and it was located in the free tram zone, we can just travel around in the Melbourne CBD without paying anything! The room is also very clean and tidy. We arrived in Melbourne in the midnight, we just collected the keys from the Ezymart staff. Easy check in!
Great location for walking in all directions around Melbourne CBD. Very close to the Vic Markets and Southern Cross Station. Very clean rooms. Friendly, helpful staff. We stayed in the attached apartments building rather than the hotel so it was a bit more like an air b'n'b experience. The apartment was small but felt spacious, it was clean and comfortable for four adults.
Great location in a leafy street not far from the Melbourne CBD. I had a function in Northcote and it's a short walk from here to the Metro train line that heads through Clifton Hill/Northcote. I arrived via motorobike and the footpath is wide so plenty of room to park the bike on the street. Iron and ironing board in the room and worked well. Plenty of space.
Great location - short walk to CBD and a 1 minute walk to tram. Staff were exceptional and very friendly, they really added to the ‘5 Star’ feel of the hotel. Loved the old world charm of the hotel and the way it’s held onto the theme/look of its history. Despite being in the CBD and on a fairly busy road, the room was practically silent - amazing!
Bed and pillows were really comfortable and the King room had a terrific city view as well as feeling very spacious. The cafe downstairs served the best coffee of my Melbourne trip. The city circle tram was only a few metres away so handy to explore the cbd. Southern Cross station's Skybus stop is a 10min walk so coming from the airport is easy.
A beautiful apartment with stunning 180 degree views of the city, and well equipped too. It was close to transport and the CBD, and great value when compared with other 3bd apartments at the price point we paid. The apartment was also within 2 mins of a Woolworths and bottle shop, which made shopping for supplies very easy.
Location is amazing to Melbourne’s CBD, public transport & Southbank. Their quick resolve to make good on our booking when they first informed us the hotel was at capacity and our bedding configuration wasn’t available. After a few minutes we miraculously had the room we had booked. Beds and pillows were comfy.
This place was amazing - great view from the city view room. Reception was open most of the time. We liked that it wasn't in the heart of the CBD as we enjoyed the walk around Southbank and discovering some of the eateries and cafes. Would definitely come back here for a special trip in Melbourne.
These apartments are in an excellent location within easy walking distance of Melbourne city centre. They provide secure parking in an area where space is limited. They are quite spacious for two and give you a space to relax. Comfortable bed and reasonable kitchen facilities. Aircon worked well.
Paul is a perfect host. Ensured everything was so very easy upon checking. This is a wonderful location with stunning city views, a sunny coffee stop across the street and an easy flat walk to Southbank, Docklands and the CBD. Easy parking for our 4x4. Could not recommend highly enough.
Enjoyed the overnight stay at this hotel. Good location (except City Rd is probably the worst road in the greater Melbourne CBD - but that isnt the hotel's fault!) comfy room, good price and a short walk to a lot of the things you want to do in Melbourne. Would highly recommend.
The location was good as we had family in the area. Very handy to trams and was close to CBD. Hotel is a little dated now but room was clean and a good size. Staff were very friendly. We used the restaurant for dinner and breakfast and enjoyed the meals.
I really liked the location of the hotel, it was right where the train or tram comes through making it easy to visit the CBD and even go to the river to take pictures of take a river tour. It’s a pretty hotel as well.
The location is great, near many restaurants and malls. We were able to walk to the tourist tram that circles the CBD. This hotel is right in the middle of the free tram zone.
Great value hotel in a location that allows you to walk to all the tourist spots and CBD - very clean, lovely lobby and staff. Breakfast was basic but much appreciated.
Excellent location, easy to walk around Carlton, Fitzroy, Collingwood, quick tram to Melbourne CBD.
This place could be great with the proper management.
