A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.
The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.
Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.
For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.
Whether you are looking for hotels near Edinburgh Airport or accommodations in the city center, Booking.com has a great range to choose from.
I loved everything about Edinburgh. First, the people were warm, welcoming and kind. The Scottish accent is so beautiful I felt like people were singing. Both the ancient and modern architecture were stunning. The food was great, and the whole experience was exhilarating.

Always lots to do in Edinburgh.
Always lots to do in Edinburgh. We stayed a couple of days and visited Edinburgh Castle, Camera Obscura, National Gallery and the Britannia. Ocean terminal is great for a variety of restaurants. A day pass for the tram removes the usual city centre driving and parking hassle. Edinburgh zoo is great and will easily take up a few hours. Great city for families, couples and solo travellers.

Edinburgh is a great city if you like culture, cuisine and comedy. There's always a lot going on. They've got a million little cafes, bars and restaurants. It's also very historical and worth a visit if you're into castles and period buildings.
It is quite expensive, especially to go out at night but most places are worth the expense.

Full of things to do , easy to get around on foot or by public transport or open to bus. Lots of restaurant choices . Historical buildings and museum all worth seeing . Plenty for Harry Potter and ghost fans . Boat trips need to be booked in advance of arrival and well worh considering .
We had a very helpful and warm welcome at reception, the parking is so convenient too, especially for being in Edinburgh city centre. The hotel was very central too and was a 5 min walk from princes street.
The room was a castle view room- it was spotless, had a stunning view, and was very spacious. We also were provided with complimentary slippers and robes.
The bar was lovely too with good drink options, we didn’t get a chance to eat in the restaurant but we will the next time. We will certainly be back!
THE LOCATION IS IN THE MIDDLE OF OLD TOWN, JUST OFF THE ROYAL MILE. RESTAURANTS ARE STEPS AWAY. 24 HOUR STAFF WERE VERY HELPFUL. THE HOTEL HAS A BAR AND YOU CAN ORDER SNACKS LIKE PIZZA. BREAKFAST WAS AMAZING, PROBABLY THE BEST HOTEL BREAKFAST I'VE EVER HAD. THE STAFF HELD MY SUITCASE FOR 5 DAYS WHILE I WENT ON A SIDE TRIP, WHICH WAS SUCH A CONVENIENCE. THE ROOM WAS SMALL BUT NICE. IT WAS A HOT FEW DAYS AND THERE IS AN AIR COOLER BUT NOT AIR CONDITIONER. I WOULD ABSOLUTELY STAY HERE AGAIN.
The hotel is very centrally located - in the heart of Edinburgh. It was an easy walk to the castle, royal mile, train station, new town, etc. Grass market is a great location surrounded by popular restaurants and pubs.
The staff is very welcoming and ensured that our stay is comfortable and safe. They take many measures to ensure cleanliness and hygiene which is very crucial in this new era.
Overall - we loved our stay and would highly recommend it.
Great location between George and rose street in new town. Very close to the tram to get from and to the airport. The walk to old town, the royal mile and Edinburgh Castle was just a short and easy to do. But most of all the staff was very responsive, great to work with and very helpful during our stay. I can not say enough about the staff and location proximity to everything you want to do, plus a great view of Edinburgh Castle from the front door!
This is a lovely quaint hotel. We received a warm welcome on arrival, and recommendations on places to see, and where to eat and drink. The room was clean and cosy, had a nice view of the street, and included all of the expected amenities (tea/coffee, TV, hair dryer, toiletries). The location was a short walk from the city centre and close to a tram stop. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Edinburgh.
Breakfast buffet was more than ample. GF options and best organised I have ever seen for guests with any food intolerances. Very practical and well organised hotel. Staff very professional and efficient. Great base for exploring Leith or for going into Edinburgh city centre. Family, couple, people on business friendly. It ticks all the boxes. Bright and airy. Would not hesitate to recommend!
It is very conveniently located in Edinburgh city centre. It's really good having parking on site. Leisure facilities were okay. The room was nice enough. Good soundproofing. Small fridge and huge TV. The breakfast was very good. Plenty choice and seated very quickly. Try out the waffle machine. All in all, a good stay, in a nice hotel, in great location.
The location was great. In the heart of New Town and just a few minutes walking from Old Town. The room was lovely, quite big, and very Scottish style. Staff was very kind and always looking for our comfort. The instructions for entering the room were very clear and easy to understand. I would definitely stay again if I came back to Edinburgh.
The room was quiet as requested and spotless. They provided the usual toiletries and more importantly the aircon worked very well - which is not usually a given in European hotels. The district itself was quiet yet it was easy to reach the city centre from there. We would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Edinburgh.
This hotel is a 5 minute walk from the Royal Mile, the National Museum of Scotland, and an easy walk to Edinburgh Castle, Holyroodhouse, and more. There's a Costa Coffee next door, a cool diner on the corner, and a grocery store within a 75 ft. We had a great view of the street below leading right up to the Mile.
The staff at the Holiday Inn West Edinburgh were courteous and helpful and there was plenty of parking. The view of Edinburgh from our sixth floor window was breathtaking. This hotel is a great option for tourists wanting to "do" Edinburgh as it's easy to reach by car with good connections to the city centre.
Fantastic location within easy access of the airport & Edinburgh city centre. Great apartment for our family trip to Edinburgh. It had everything to meet our needs but with the added little details of a hotel. Loads of towels, coffee & tea, spotlessly clean. Pictures are exactly what it looks like.
all staff were super friendly & welcoming. Food in the restaurant was lovely! Not too far from city centre around 30 mins on bus.
Swimming pool was a bonus as well as all the other facilities! Would definitely book here when visiting edinburgh again. Not disappointed about the hotel at all!
It location in the centre of Edinburgh Old town was amazing. The facilities was exceptional and clean. We found it within easy walking access to most of the locations we wanted to see. Most of the city busses run past the hotel as well should you want to explore a bit further.
This place has lots of character and was better in person! Pleasantly surprised at larger bedroom suite and view of courtyard, great location in New Town area (downhill from Old Town Edinburgh), staff was super friendly and helpful, and the common areas were quite enjoyable.
I love the location. Its handy for meeting friends and having a lovely meal in the carvery. Bus stop right outside the front door for buses into Edinburgh City Centre. Have always used this hotel as I like the service you receive from all the staff.
We stayed four nights in a clean, spacious room overlooking Princes St. The staff were helpful, the location perfect for access to the Old Town, restaurants, and the bus station. I’d highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Edinburgh
Location to airport and tram stop into Edinburgh city centre and attractions. Compared to other hotel's you get what you pay for. All in all, it was value for money.
