Nestled in a prime location, this hotel offers convenience but falls short in upkeep. The worn-out interiors and peeling paint detract from its appeal. However, guests are treated to a delightful breakfast with a picturesque view, making mornings memorable despite the outdated ambiance.

With the Acropolis as the jewel in the archaeological crown of Athens, this city is full of history while embracing the future. Take a stroll back in time through the neoclassical streets of the Plaka, where you'll find tavernas serving tantalizing souvlaki and mousaka, street vendors and live entertainment.
A trip to the Parthenon and the Agora top most lists and can also be appreciated from a distance by walking along the Dionysiou Aeropagitou street, which is away from the busy crowds of the city center.
The changing of the guard occurs every hour on the famous Syntagma Square. From here, Ermou Street provides shopaholics with a fashionable retail sanctuary. The upscale districts Kolonaki and Kifisia are also bursting with fancy boutiques, galleries and bars.
Athens has some of the finest museums in the world, such as the National Archaeological, Acropolis and Benaki Museums. From Athens International Airport to the Port of Piraeus, this is a city bustling with the old and new. On Booking.com you can find everything from modern hotels to a room in a classical building.

Athens is a great city to visit because most of the main attractions are centrally located. We walked everywhere in the central historical area - though even in our 60s, we are fit - it may not be for everyone, so simply buy the multiday metro/tram/bus ticket.
The central historical area is amazing; just buy the 6+1 combo ticket on line (Acropolis plus 6 additional sites). You will have to pick the time and date that you will enter the Acropolis, but the other sites you can visit anytime over the three-day validity of the ticket. It is a shame about the scaffolding on the Parthenon....just the way of things - don't let it spoil your trip.
The change of the guard at Syntagma (right outside the Metro and up the steps) is unusual to say the least. Very exacting and ceremonial, it left me thinking, 'Just get on with it!' but it was spellbinding to watch.
From the airport, the metro is your friend - goes right into the city center and lots of stops with one bound to be near your place.
Pack light ! Avoid the big suitcases - you won't need the contents. One walking shoes, one nicer pair! Athens is relaxed and makes do with less.
Eating: Instead of heading directly to the hubbub of Syntagma, Monastiraki, or Kolonaki, venture a little into the backwaters. You'll be better looked after and at a cheaper price.

Just about everything about Athens is great.
Just about everything about Athens is great.
Unfortunately, Victoria station is the forgotten stop on the Green Line which is itself somewhat neglected in favour of the more tourist-oriented Metro lines

First impression, very busy .
First impression, very busy . Roads narrow and lots of graffiti and derelict buildings, but don't be put off by this. We found people very friendly and helpful. There are many places to eat and drink. It is easy to get around and you will meet many cats on the way, they are also very friendly and seemed to be looked after very well by the people of the City. You will also see a few tortoises around the acropolis.
My favourite place apart from the Acropolis was the old cemetery.

A beautiful city, with lots of places to eat, drink and visit in the old town. Lots of history to see but also not far at all to a beautiful port and riviera. We used the Sights of Athens hop on hop off bus. Excellent value for money with friendly drivers/staff.

Loved the Acropolis and the Museum.
Loved the Acropolis and the Museum. Did a mythology scavenger hunt through the city that was a great way to discover it. Busy roads and walking through the city is not always practical. They are making improvements. Great food and very welcoming people.
spotless, beautiful, tasteful, comfortable, cute apartment. large balcony with endless sea view. The apartment has everything, everything you need to cook and enjoy your stay and swim in the wonderful beaches and pool that the property has. The nearest beach is a 3-minute walk away and is not very crowded. Everywhere there are beaches, deserted and organized. Also there is a parking space for your car as this is a big problem in Athens. I enjoyed my stay and will be back soon. Ioannis is an excellent host. Thank you very much Ioannis
We had a great time during our stay in Greece. Despite initial concerns about check-in, the process was smooth and easy thanks to the hotel manager, Dimitris, who provided detailed instructions and was always available to answer our questions. The room was small but clean, comfortable and quiet. The kitchen was well equipped. The view of the Parthenon from the seventh floor was amazing. The apartment was in a great location, close to dining, shopping and attractions. We enjoyed walking around the city and seeing the sights.
Staff, Service, Location.
We stayed in Sofitel Hotel at the last night of our family trip in Greece. My daughter left her wallet with cash Euro 660 in it at safe in the room when check out. We called the hotel from Vienna airport between our transfer flight home. After few emails and message communication, the wallet was shipped back Taiwan to us, as well as the cash wired to our bank account. To be frank, it was beyond our expectation. I have to thanks all the staff and well managed hotel and amazing country--Greece.
Staff was very nice, i asked for early check in in advance and they cleaned the room earlier so we could get in. Very center location, restaurant and supermarket nearby. Rooftop with Acropolis view is real bonus. It's not a brand new hotel but its clean and comfortable. Breakfast was standard with egg ham cheese and several greece pastry. But no complain with the price and location its worth the money. We rent family room and turned out its 2 rooms with connecting door and 2 bathroom! Great one !
Nice apartment and in a very good position! We've been to Athens many times and we are happy with our choice. Great beds and very comfortable. Pillows are also comfy! The kitchen is fully equipped. Also despite the fact that in Greece the internet connection is not strong enough, this apartment provides a high-quality wifi connection. The check-in process is also soft and easy and the host allows us an early check-in. We will prefer it in the future for sure!
We were recommended this hotel by friends in New Zealand. It was very centrally located making getting around very easy. We caught the metro from the airport into Syntagma Square and it was a short walk from there. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent - a great way to start the day. We stayed three nights; two days at the start of our visit to Greece and one night at the end. I would stay here again without hesitation.
Excellent location and very helpful host
Apartment was a significant size and decorated with great taste
When we come back to Greece and Athens we would definitely book this as our first choice it was way better than a 5 star hotel we stayed at in Athens when we first arrived.
The location also perfect right in the middle of the trendy areas in Athens, the only dissapointment was we couldn't stay longer
Beautiful hotel with a rooftop terrace and views of the Acropolis! Clean and comfortable room. As others have stated, the bathroom and shower are very tiny, but we made it work. And they are updated and pretty, and the shower has great pressure. Great location for walking around the city. The staff were all very kind and helpful. We would stay here again and hopefully we'll be back because we love Greece!
The breakfast was quite gthowever the coffees varied from day to day. It was surprising to find a hotel of this quality using a big coffee urn. Other hotels we have stayed at in Greece have machines where you can make a variety of different fresh ground coffee. We were at the hotel for 5 nights. The breakfast was overall quite good with lots of variety. My only complaint was the coffee
It is a little oasis in the middle of a busy part of Athens. Breakfast was excellent, and they even packed us a breakfast for our early flight. The room we had was awesome with a view of the Acropolis. Shower was spacious and the bed the most comfortable of our trip to Greece. They helped arrange transports for us to and from the airport as well. All great things to say!
The hotel served as my home base for my travels throughout Greece. As a result, the location was excellent for getting into Athens on the tram, connecting to the highway system for my daytrips to Evia, the Peloponnese, and to use the ferry service for a bit of island hopping. The location was close to shopping, and a wide variety of restaurants and cafes.
Getting access and the keys was easy. It is a very big apartment by Greece standards with no tv in the lounge room. It is located a minutes walk from Monastitaki station and an easy walk to the sites of Athens with no tv in the lounge room. Right across the road is a luggage storage shop, Mr John is more than happy to help with no tv in the lounge room.
The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful.
The location is perfect to get to all sites in Athens. Syntagma Square is the best central location. It is clean but busy and has links everywhere. Ideal location with the City Sighseeing Bus around the corner, metro link at the top of the road and walking distance to Plaka.
I really enjoyed my time in this hotel. Personal are the nicest!!! :D good breakfast, good infraestructure, pretty close to the center and a really nice place in general! If I come back to Athens, I would stay there! Price-quality is totally worth it! If my trip to Greece was amazing it was, a big part, for this hotel. Thank you! :)
location. very accessible to all the sites in Athens and restaurants, shops, places to see is within walking distance.
the room was very nice with lots of space for 1 people and breakfast is delicious and view from the rooftop is magnificent.
if travelling to Greece in the future, will definitely stay at this hotel again.
I really like the hotel staff, they went out of their way to help us. Special thanks to Irene, who wanted to make sure we were enjoying our trip and to give us advice. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone. We had the best time in Greece. Big thank you to Athens star hotel!
This was probably the cleanest hotel we stayed at during our stay in Greece and that is saying a lot because we booked some exceptional stays. The location was very convenient and the bed was so comfortable.
The Attalos Hotel is in the best location in Athens to get around and experience a feel for the real Greece. The hotel and rooms are very clean and the staff are very friendly.
The rooms are immaculate and very clean.
The staff couldn’t do enough to help you. They were amazing.
The shower was amazing
The best hotel breakfast I’ve had in Greece
