Exhibition: A Little Bit of Warmth 2010

  • 01-21 Jun 2010
  • CSIRO Discovery - Black Mountain Laboratories, Canberra, Australia

Description

An exhibition by textile artists Ms Marie Henkel and Ms June Dorman.

Responding to the world financial crisis and looking at her stash of beautiful fibres, Ms Marie Henkel began knitting.

There were balls of brilliantly coloured wools and cool soft hues, multicoloured balls, textured, fine, bright and sparkly, thick and dull, but only one ball of each.

People gave her their left over wool. At the bottom of the chest where they were stored she found some from New Zealand, USA and other countries visited in years past. These rugs are the result of those inspirations.

Join us for a special opening afternoon tea on Saturday, 5 June at 3:00 pm.

There will be a floor talk from Ms Henkel on Wednesday, 9 June at 10:30am.

Textile enthusiasts might also be interested in Discovery`s other event, the Garden Tea Party: ACT Textile Arts Association (Canberra, 17 19 Sep 10).
