International Workshop on Organic Matter Spectroscopy 2013 (WOMS 2013)

  • 16-19 Jul 2013
  • Universite du Sud Toulon-Var, La Garde, France

Description

The International Workshop on Organic Matter Spectroscopy 2013 (WOMS 2013) is dedicated to advancements and trends in the characterization of dissolved organic matter (DOM) in inland and marine waters using spectroscopic techniques coupled with advanced image and signal processing tools, including topics such as:

  • Signal and image processing for fluorescence data
    • Reconstruction of the Fluorescence Emission-Excitation Matrices (EEM) of the separated
    • Pre- and post-processing (noise reduction, image filtering, smoothing, inner effect correction)
    • Best way to deal with a non-negative and/or sparse constraint
    • Fluorophores from few observations or with possible missing data
    • Best way to estimate the number of fluorophores in PARAFAC analysis
    • Best way to initialize the factorization algorithms
    • Detection/decision, estimation and clustering of fluorophores
  • Fluorescence measurements
    • Inner filtering effect correction methods and their domains of application
    • Physico-chemical parameters influencing the DOM spectroscopic measurements
    • Laser-induced, time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy and lifetime of fluorophores
    • Measurement standardization and calibration, instrumental corrections, use of standards
    • New real-time data processing
    • In situ fluorescence, sensors, on-line measurements for environmental monitoring
    • Could it be possible to build an international numeric library?
