Water in Mining 2010

  • 09-11 Jun 2010
  • Sheraton Santiago Hotel and Convention Center, Chile

Description

In a context of growing water scarcity and multi-users increasing demand, water has become a vital strategic resource for the mining industry which must guarantee its own long-term water supply and demonstrate a responsible and sustainable water management. Water plays a key role in virtually all mining activities and is typically the prime medium, together with air, that can carry pollutants into the broader environment. Efficient use of water in mining and metallurgical processes is still a priority concern for many mining projects but other important challenges have emerged in the last few years. Water and energy environmental linking, geochemical modeling for water quality prediction and control, ecological river flows and global integrated water management at basin scale are some of the "hottest" topics of interest to be discussed at WIM 2010 Congress. Don`t miss the chance to share your experience and discuss these crucial topics with your counterpart from many different countries.
