Perfect location, super friendly and helpful owners and staff. They’ve put together an incredibly useful and detailed booked of restaurant and sightseeing recommendations, what to order, the restaurants specialty etc. Awesome balcony and rooftop with great views. Almost entirely foreigners so it’s very easy to meet people, relative to other hostels in China. Great common area. Free tea, homemade bread, and ice cream bars. In my top 5 best hostels ever.

They were extremely accommodating during the trip, willing to help whenever I needed it. Got robbed a few days into my stay at a bar, and one of the ladies went out of her way to come with me to the station and translate for the police officer. Never have I stayed somewhere where they went out of their way to that extent to make my trip to China comfortable.

Chongqing is absolutely an amazing city. so many places you can enjoy visit. People are friendly, chatty and helpful. getting around is easy with the rail/subway system. Didi is a good option too and easy to get around. We love Dai Jia Xiang most, what a gem. We had coffee and brewed tea there and enjoyed the river view and environment.

Chongqing, a vibrant metropolis in southwest China, offers a unique blend of ancient charm and modern dynamism. Known as the "Mountain City," its dramatic landscape is crisscrossed by the Yangtze and Jialing rivers, creating stunning cityscapes. Visitors can indulge in world-famous Chongqing hot pot, explore the historic Ciqikou Old Town, or take a scenic cruise through the Three Gorges. The city's futuristic skyline, exemplified by Hongyadong stilted buildings, contrasts beautifully with traditional tea houses and bustling street markets. With its spicy cuisine, rich history, and warm hospitality, Chongqing promises an unforgettable experience for any traveler seeking to discover the heart of China.

The topography is incredible; the downtown area is on a high ridge, in one place has an old ten story building complex (Hongyadong) from the waterfront to the top, with food, trinkets and huge crowds. There’s a real youth vibe to Chongqing. My favourite place was the Jiulonggpo area, where the buildings and local statues are covered in painted graffiti. The Sichuan Fine Arts museum in the area has four major modern art galleries, but outsiders are no longer allowed to visit, which sums up many of the contradictions of China today. There’s a mountain of history here too which I didn’t get time to explore. We mostly eat at cheap food-court type restaurants, or street stalls. Everything I read beforehand said the food is spicy, ie hot, and that’s kind of true, but I avoided hotpot and had nothing which was too hot; the spices just added to the flavour. With Maocai you can choose ingredients (vegetables, meat, noodles) to add into a kind of red, spicy soup, and you pay by weight. Chaocai and Hotpot are different styles. The metro system is amazingly efficient. Install Alipay, connect it to your credit card, and you can download the Chongqing metro app and use a QR code to pay: no buying tickets or queueing. If I had my time over I’d avoid the Three Gorges museum; nothing about the dam, the reasons for it, the problems it created. A very boring museum.

Great location. Wonderful rooms which were luxuriously large, clean and comfy. Staff were competent, and supported by very capable management, from arranging rooms for our group of 4 friends, to extending late checkout (when it became available). Jack Zhou went above and beyond by helping us out of a predicament we found ourselves in at the last minute - he was tactful, resourceful, and knowledgeable. Thanks and kudos to the Westin team! Will certainly recommend this hotel to anyone heading to Chongqing!

One of the best hotels I've had the opportunity to stay. Amazing view from the room on the 33th floor, super clean and cool designed, very central. Staff is going out of their way to help you out although the language barrier, very kind and nice people. Felt super welcome as a solo female traveler!

The hotel received me like a family member, and I was really grateful. Tired after returning from the trip, the manager gave me a massage service to relieve the fatigue of the day. The late check-out the next day, the service was very considerate, which doubled my good impression of Chongqing.
