CL:AIRE Conference - The Story of the Enabling Works at the Olympic Park 2010

  • 04 Nov 2010
  • One Great George Street, London, United Kingdom

Description

CL:AIRE has been given permission by London 2012 to tell the remarkable story of how a vast, contaminated, brownfield `megasite` in East London was prepared, cleaned and made fit for purpose - for the building of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games infrastructure.

This conference will bring together for the first time the specialist companies that were involved in remediating the Olympic Park site in preparation for creating and staging the London 2012 Games. Focusing on the technical aspects of this immense project, the conference will celebrate the achievements and successes of hundreds of experts working behind the scenes. It will look at how the remediation strategy was planned and implemented within a very tight timeframe, and examine the future legacy of the site. Topics include the awarding of the initial contracts, the demolition process, cleaning of the soil and groundwater, and how it was possible to re-use most of the material on site. From start to finish, the regeneration industry will see how the works came together in a way that represents a significant case study for `UK PLC`.
