Urgent Care, Sports Medicine and Primary Care: An Evidence-Based Trifecta

Following this course, the participant should be able to identify the diagnostic and therapeutic options for commonly seen disorders; apply an approach to exercise, sports participation and special problems in athletes such as the use of steroids and stimulants; implement proper treatment and follow-up or referral of the patient with injuries and fractures. This activity is expected to result in increased confidence in making an appropriate diagnosis and providing effective treatment and referral or follow-up care with the overall goal of improving patient outcomes.


The emphasis will be on current guidelines and evidence-based medicine, as indicated within each topic’s specific objectives. Since Sports Medicine and Urgent Care issues commonly present in many clinical settings to include EM, FM, UC and Pediatric EM, this course was designed as a review and update for all practitioners at the level of a practicing physician.
