This seminar provides an intensive and comprehensive review of selected topics in laboratory animal medicine and science. It is intended to serve the needs of veterinarians across a broad spectrum: clinical veterinarians, residents, training program directors, and faculty directors. The course includes lectures on animal models, animal diseases and husbandry, equipment, facility design, IACUC issues, pain management, statistics, and research methods.
Each participant should leave the course with a new working knowledge of specific changes to the field of laboratory animal medicine and science. Attendees will acquire new and current information on select animal models, animal husbandry and disease, and research programs that will enable them to better oversee the daily operations of laboratory animal facilities.
