Ultrasound in the New Millennium: The Cancer Patient 2010

Description

The focus of this conference is to provide instruction in the routine and unique applications of ultrasound in the cancer patient. Presentations, both didactic and practical workshops, will cover a range of organ systems involving a variety of cancers with their respective diagnoses, management, complications and outcomes. Physicians and sonographers will also have an opportunity to participate in hands-on demonstrations on state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment, as well as to interact directly with the faculty.

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of this educational activity, participants should be able to
  • perform a diagnostic ultrasound examination for detection and/or diagnosis of common neoplasms in various organs and tissues;
  • describe the sonographic findings of commonly encountered cancers in their specific organ settings and related tissues;
  • describe potential diagnostic, management and interventional methods that can be incorporated into a treatment and management plan for improved patient outcomes; and
  • adjust machine settings, perform sonography with greater confidence, and optimize sonographic images after participating in workshops on basic imaging and transducer techniques.
