Description
We have designed this course for primary care clinicians in the region including primary care pediatricians, family physicians, physician-associates, nurse practitioners who care for children or adolescents in primary care settings including acute care facilities. Topics were generated from gap analyses of knowledge, skills, practice, and outcomes, and they concern developmental screening, neonatal jaundice, developmental delay, adrenal disorders, otitis media, failure to thrive, migraine and chronic daily headache, pediatric mental health issues, sports injuries, brain tumors, persistent diarrhea, adolescent hypertension, childhood depression, sudden death in athletes, and pediatric resuscitation. Speakers hail from Mayo Clinic and Sanford Health and the event is sponsored in part from a generous gift from T Denny Sanford. Presentations will include twenty-minute interactive presentations with five minutes discussion to follow, two thirty-minute poster session of 30 minutes in length featuring joint research efforts at the two institutions, and a luncheon lecture:50 minutes in length with 10 minutes discussion to follow. The program will include pre- and post-testing with audience response as well as post-course follow-up to enable incorporation of learning into practice.
