The meeting will consist of four half-day sessions beginning Thursday morning and concluding Saturday at noon. There will be three concurrent workshops on Thursday afternoon providing an opportunity to discuss topics in greater depth in smaller groups. This year we will hold a session featuring research presentations by nephrology fellows training in the Western United States. Meeting attendees are invited to sit in on this concurrent session and get a glimpse into the research of these energetic future nephrologists.
At the conclusion of this conference, participants should be able to:
- Interpret and assess questions faced by nephrologists on a daily basis
- Recognize new therapeutic strategies in patients with cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and chronic kidney disease
- Better evaluate how to build and maintain a successful peritoneal dialysis program for the care of patients with end-stage renal disease
- Better understand and utilize the newer technologies in the hemodialysis unit to improve the care of patients with end-stage renal disease treated by hemodialysis
- Apply new knowledge in daily practice regarding the management of anemia and vascular access in patients with end-stage renal disease
- Identify new and controversial issues presented in this year s nephrology literature
